We had several bad reviews in a row, and we are remedying the problems We changed cleaning personnel. We dealt with the mice and are continually monitoring potential entry points. Since then through another website, we have had four stellar reviews. We have included them in descriptions with the bad review… for VRBO customers were having a special rate from now through December in order to say that we are on top of these issues. Thank you!
Romantic...Private...Honeymoon...Anniversary...or just because. You want to get away! Hemlock Hollow is located on 5 wonderfully wooded acres.

Great for Bird watching! Winter is Hawks, Owls, and woodpeckers. Recently a Peregrine Falcon was spotted on Tanners Ridge Road. He Flew Right in front of my Truck chasing a song bird. Vero's and Warblers, phoebes are among our visitors in the Spring.

Hemlock Hollow..is a 2 bedroom Custom Built Log home with Cathedral Ceilings and a Two-Person indoor Whirlpool Tub....and a Hot tub on Expanded Deck!....

Marvelously secluded, Hemlock Hollow is nestled in a High Mountain Hollow next to a Babbling Brook..... The Cabin is located just outside the Shenandoah National Park near Big Meadows. Cabin is a 1 1/2 mile hike from skyline drive via Tanner's Ridge road gate. Foot, Mountain Bike, and Hoarse traffic allowed via this access.

Watch the sunset from the covered porch...Take in nature from the outside breakfast nook bridging the porch and deck...... Relax on deck to catch the sparkling night sky after grilling dinner.... Maybe you'd rather just sit around the campfire....

...There's plenty to do with hiking to Big Meadows or fishing in the nearby private pond. All the activities of Luray and the Shenandoah Valley are just 20 minute drive away....

Hemlock Hollow is... Americans with Disabilities Act, ( or ADA) Compliant. There are 29 Cleverly built-in ADA features. ....The ADA features work well with Families with young Children, 0-5 and toddlers....

We have a camp fire ring a few steps from the Deck. Free use of Downed wood. Within 10 minutes of foraging you will get all the wood needed. This also helps prevents wild fires.

In the past pandemic years we have had inconsistent reviews. Several issues are supply chain related. With hot tubs we have replaced 5 control panels, three pumps, and 1 main panel.

In several instances there has been a lack of understanding. Hot tubs cannot overcome all weather at all times. At temperatures below 50f, if the lid is left off, the tub will cool. At 10f the tub will cool rapidly.

Hot tubs heat at a constant rate. Turning up the temperature does not make the tub heat faster. The tub will heat until it satisfies the temperature sensor. We have several point of use instructions. Guest are responsible for management of the tub during the length of the contract.

Patience and logic are needed in operating all of the devices within the building... Please take a deep breath, read the instructions, or take a minute to figure out to your understanding how something works.

The cabin was a nice getaway. It would have been better if the jets in the hot tub and/or the jetted tub actually worked. It was a bit dusty upon arrival as if no one has been there in awhile. We enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was exactly what we wanted! The hot tub was the main reason for choosing the location and we used it the whole time there. The grill was very nice and we were able to cook the whole trip. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and we loved the openess of the common area. We enjoyed the firepit and how secluded the property was. The owner answered all my questions very quickly and even offered to come help us with an issue we had. We loved having coffee outside on the porch in the mornings. I would advise anyone coming in snow or ice to be aware you are on a mountain and at times we had to use 4wd in our pickup truck and this was during beautiful weather. There was some great places to visit in nearby Luray, and host helped us with suggestions on grocery store and things to do. There was a TV in living room and we were able to access WiFi.

Beautiful secluded location. Love the hot tub. Could use dim lighting at night by hot tub. Also jets in bathtub dint work. Not sure how to cut on. But loved it all. Thanks. My girl enjoyed herself

The property is absolutely beautiful. The road to the property can be a bit difficult to maneuver, since it is so secluded. That's exactly what I wanted though. I booked this cabin explicitly for the hot tub on the deck - for my husband. He has back issues & after our 7 hour drive, he needed it. I checked with the owner a few days before to make sure the hot tub would be operational and he said yes it would. Then, a day or so later he told me that the "backup" hot tub was in place. He didn't mention that it was an inflatable hot tub. My husband was less than pleased. The cabin had some minor issues. Some repairs need to be done, the furniture isn't comfortable ( a futon for a couch, plastic dining chairs, etc) but those features weren't much of an issue since we weren't there much. There is no shower, so keep that in mind. There is a jetted tub with a shower head attachment, but no real shower. If you like a rustic setting, it's great. If we go to that area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again - as long as the real hot tub is in place. As it was for this past weekend, the price point was way too high for what we got.

Much needed TLC

This cabin needs much work, i understand where it is you will have mice and critters but the cabin has alot of mouse droppings that are not cleaned up , the pots and pans to use for cooking are in poor condition, we weren't able to use the grill no propane, the microwave had mouse droppings coming out of the vent , the wooden deck has boards coming up , and the door lock is not very secure . I wouldn't even say the cabin needs updating it needs TLC and more attention to detail. There is no comfortable place to sit it has a futon and a corner made couche that isn't very comfortable. We did contact the host because the microwave stopped working he was very nice and offered to come and help as he was on the way it started to work. At the time we didn't mention things that we found since it wasn't all at once. I didn't feel right about calling him everytime we noticed something my husband and i just made the best of what we had since we are 6 hours away we couldn't just pack up. So when we left i texted him to tell him. I just hope that he checks everything out and changes will be made. Also if you are a shower person. There is a hot tube in the bathroom but no shower on the hot tub is a shower hose . So if you aren't a tub person you may want to consider that. As i said i didn't contact the host everytime something happened cause i would have contacted him more than one time over the course of 4 days. I did ask for what he felt was a far refund but no refund .

Worst experience ever

There was no stay. The property owner did not provide a code to access the property. There was a backup plan communicated that I trusted would be honored. It was not. There was a phone at the back of the house, but there was no dial tone for this non-working phone. I took a picture of the 2 toll free numbers so I could drive back out to where I had cell phone service. Once there, no one answered the phone on either number. No one returned my call as I had requested, either. If that wasn’t bad enough, VRBO has done nothing to help except act in abusive, unethical, and unprofessional ways- more than implying that my inability to access the property was my fault. Unbelievable. VRBO took my money and has done nothing but give me the runaround since that time.

Unfortunately I was very unpleased with this place. There is absolutely no view, the cabin is sitting on a hill in the woods. The campfire ring is also sitting directly on the hill. The hot tub is not HOT. The cabin is infested with wasps. I killed about 7 during my stay, one being in the bed sheets, and as I laid down it stung me on my arm! There is mouse poop everywhere, I laid awake one night just listening to the mice! There is no shower!!!! Only a jacuzzi tub. The whole place is just dirty. You can tell just by looking up at the ceiling, and especially outside at the window frames, the entire place is just kinda rigged together. I would not recommend!! Definitely not worth even half the money.

No frills….just chillz

We had a great time getting away and having a secluded, private and peaceful place to stay. We drove around Shenandoah’s Sky Line Dr and came back to amazing weather and spent a few hours in the hot tub. Accessing the property was easy peasy and the property manager was super quick to respond to any questions. Very relaxing, exactly what we needed! With that being said…the cleanliness was my biggest issue. The futon in the living room is red with black stains all over it, just filthy. We had to cover it with a comforter to sit on it without being grossed out. It wouldn’t be too big of an issue if it wasn’t the only comfortable place to sit in the room aside from the wooden bench with the thinnest cushions on it. The mats on the floor in the bedroom were a bath mat on one side and a toilet mat on the other, I couldn’t help but wonder how old and dirty these may be. Cabinet door in one bedroom was broken and hanging from one hinge. It would be a nice cabin that I would come back to with a little TLC and some more comfortable seating in the living room.

Nature’s retreat

Secluded cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. The host was very communicative/helpful, check-in was easy, and we were pleased with the property. Additionally, we enjoyed hikes, scenic views, and spied on playful wildlife.

We had a great time here. Very secluded, nice looking cabin, hot tub, and close to Luray, which my wife has never been so we went there on her birthday. All in all it was a nice escape and we would go back again. However there are some things you need to know before booking. 1. There is WiFi, but the password isn't provided so you have to ask. I recommend asking before you go, since there is absolutely no cell service there. 2. No cell service. There is supposed to be a land line, but you couldn't make calls only recieve calls. 3. The only communication we had with Patrick was through the VRBO website, even though we told him we had no cell service and he had to call us on the cabin phone. He still answered on the VRBO site. In order to get cell service to check the website we had to drive all the way back to the entrance of the community. Thankfully he did respond to my message on the VRBO site, but again, we had to drive to find cellular service. It took us two hours to get set up and comfortable. 4. The hot tub was clean, full, and nice. We enjoyed it two nights while we were there, the third night snowed and we just didn't feel like going out in it. The only issue is that the jets are extremely weak, not like my hot tub at all. 5. Two person whirlpool tub. Ver spacious, clean, and it looked nice. The only problem we had was that the jets did not work. We tried everything but it still didn't work. The wife still loved it. I would go back.

Tranquil and quiet, the cabin in well used but completely clean and stocked. There is no phone service. The hot tub worked perfect and the view is spectacular.

Cabin in the woods

Spend the Easter weekend with the family in the cabin, and we got what we where looking for. If you want to get away from things this place is right, no cell service (Verizon, ATT), but there's WiFi if you want to stay connected or want to prevent some meltdowns, sat TV and Netflix are available You're away from everything, off a gravel road with some nice ditches, so don't bring your lowered sport car, and I'm not sure if there's any grub-hub coming out there, so make sure you bring what you need. The well water from the tap is fine. Now, this is a wood cabin, the doors might to close 100% and there are some gaps in the walls and you will hear what's going on in the neighboring rooms. Also, you're in the wood, there will be bugs and critters you will have to live with it, and as you're in a forrest you're not having much of a view but trees and sky. Now, to the reason many are looking for this cabin, yes, the hot tub works, but it's running on 110V, changing water temps will take a while. When arrived it was at 86F, getting it up to 104F took until the next day, it was freezing overnight, what probably didn't help to heat up faster. As a verdict, we expected all of this, hence we enjoyed our stay a lot, and my son is asking when we're going back to the cabin.

The place was perfect for us to stay away from our life routine, a perfect place for silence.

Thank you Mr. Patrick to give us the right directions to arrive safe... for me was a great experience to be there. Sadly Wifi not so good, the place looks clean, but not so clean. Need to check with cleaning company to do a better job, very shallow. Hot tube, cool, perfect and nice...

Star Gazing is exceptional from the Deck on a clear night. ...being in the Hot Tub on a clear night is simply an amazing experience.
