The two bedroom, 2 bath apartment (downstairs unit) at this ,,delightful beach front property is spacious, attractively furnished and right on the beach! It has a spacious living/dining room, fully equipped kitchenette and wide patio looking straight on to the Caribbean sea. In addition to the consistent tradewinds Runaway Bay normally has, the apartment has ceiling fans and optional a/c in the bedrooms - small extra charge.

Lovely location - tired property

Starting with the good - location is great. Beach is right there and the private beach is beautiful. The staff is great! From the security guards to the cleaning crew, everyone was cordial and happy to help out.The bad - the apartment wasn’t clean when we arrived. Like hair in the drain dirty. The kitchen was pretty empty, no mixing bowls for example and a bunch of really old appliances - coffee maker barely functioned. Beds were really comfortable and the AC worked greats

Just A Few Steps From The Ocean

You cannot get a better location than this property! We stayed in apartment 5 on the ground level. We were just steps from the beach and location. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Tried several nearby restaurants and was only disappointed in one meal in 8 days. The Casa Roots on the property was great (need reservations). Enjoyed a very causal restaurant down the road called Putters, the coldest beer you can find. I had planned this trip for about a year and everything was up to our expectations EXCEPT the roads were treacherous! We rented a car at the airport and within 1 mile we hit a pothole so deep we blew a tire. We spent every road trip dodging holes, plus there were very few road signs marking the roads. A must if you rent a car is to get one the sets up higher. the speed bumps are also massive! We ended up not seeing Devils Bridge because we were tired of driving on the terrible roads! Such a beautiful island with so much to see just wish they would repair their roads. Luckily we could go back to The Barrymore Apartments to relax and enjoy the few.

Beautiful quiet and tranquil.

The apartment was as stated. Right on the beach with white sandy beach and still aqua water. The accommodation had everything you could need with a fab restaurant next door. Amazing atmosphere. Great food. If you want to be off the main strip on Dickinson Bay and be just outside all the activities then Runaway beach at Barrymore apartments is the place to book. Everything is in walking distance that you could need and Linda and Brian did everything they could to make sure we had a wonderful time.

Fantastic!

We stayed on the ground floor oceanfront apartment. The unit was in great shape. New flooring had recently been installed and the interior and exterior painted. The beds were comfortable and the furniture was very nice. The view was fantastic and you can't get any closer to the beach! The staff was awesome!!! Jeremiah and the rest of the staff were very help and friendly. They made you feel so welcome!!!

Lovely beachfront apartment

The apartment was freshly painted and decorated. it was very clean and well-equipped. the location could not be beat for access to Cedar Valley Golf club. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Looks better than it is

We stayed here for week in March. Overall the villa was disappointing and in a disappointing location - not worth the money. The villa was clearly "worn-out", the furnishings shabby and the equipment on its last legs (literally - we had one of the four dining chairs that would have collapsed if anyone sat on it) - its been a long time since money was spent on it. We had a number of issues with things being broken or not working. The owner was on site but never came to see us, but the maintenance man was friendly and very helpful in replacing or fixing stuff. The best bit was the fact the front of the villa was directly on the beach, which was lovely, and just like the picture it was no more than 50 feet or so from the water's edge. The stretch of beach in front of us was lovely. The photo's (showing and endless stretch of beach) are misleading though as the beach is cut-off some 50 metres to the right and 250 metres to the left as a result of the beach being washed away several years ago in a storm and requiring barriers to be built to protect properties and prevent them being washed away. The general vicinity is run down, the roads are falling apart and there are a number of derelict buildings around that just underline that this area has seen better days and is on a continuing process of decline. On several occasions we lost mains power and whilst this is not uncommon, the back up generator was, like the rest of the place, an old cronk, and although it was some distance from our villa we could hear it thumping away and smell the diesel fumes (god knows when it was last serviced !) - nearby properties had much newer (sound attenuated) generators

Beautiful beach...casual accommodations

We stayed for 7 nights in the bottom apt. We wanted beachfront and it was! beautiful white sand and only a few people on the beach that stayed in the same complex. Something not seen in the pictures, is an oil barge that is off shore and large barges come in daily to deliver oil for the island. But, overall, the view is still amazing. Bring bug spray, lot's of mosquitos!

Great Time

Both units are great...simple, very efficient and clean with a nice quiet beach only steps away! The on-site staff is very friendly and the price for this little gem is really nice. An ideal place to bring friends/family and rent both units. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Brian

Amazing Beachfront 10 steps from your front door!

This ground floor 2 bedroom apartment is located on beautiful grounds in a quiet location. The area is close to grocery stores, night life and more touristy beaches where you can access more water activities, bars and restaurants. The apartment itself is lovely with separate bathrooms for each of the bedrooms, the kitchen is adequately stocked with utensils and there is staff on the grounds at all times in case you need assistance. The beach is gorgeous! We explored many of the beaches on the island and still found that Runaway Beach was one of our favorites! It is just a lovely, lovely beach and you literally walk 10 steps out of your patio door and there you are. The only negative thing is because the weather is so warm and beautiful, we always had the windows open. Sometimes it was very easy to hear what was going on in other apartments and they can hear what's going on in yours. However, it was a very small concern and we spent most of our day outside on the beach anyway. Staff on the grounds are wonderful and there is a very good restaurant beside the apartments. It truly was a wonderful place to stay and wouldn't hesitate to return!

An Enjoyable Experience

My son, father and I stayed for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. The apartment was comfortable, clean and well fitted out and with access to the ocean mere steps away. Access to the local supermarket, ATM, etc was 10 minutes within reach by car. Do try the Italian restaurant next door, both food and service were excellent! Would definitely recommend to travelers wishing to vacation a little off the beaten track versus amidst the hustle and bustle of traditional hotels. Not recommended for those traveling alone as the location is somewhat isolated.
