Charming home on Sugar Mountain with stream

Bigfoot's Creek is a quaint home on Sugar Mountain. A very unique property with a stream running under the front deck and a private gazebo in the sideyard. Truly a home for the outdoor lover with a wooded yard, streams, bridges, and a large deck with a gas firepit. Enter the home and walk into an open-concept living room/kitchen. The ambiance is set by the high tongue and groove ceilings, exposed beams, and large windows. The kitchen area is fully furnished and offers stainless steel appliances. With 5 bedrooms, there is plenty of sleeping space. The master bedroom has a king bed with an ensuite bath and a private deck entrance. There are four guest bedrooms, two with queen beds and two with bunk beds. There are 2 1/2 baths. The owner has stocked the home with plenty of board games to play when you are ready to come inside from your outdoor activities, and has added air conditioning.
Bigfoot's Creek is close to all the amenities that the mountain offers. In less than a 2-mile drive, you can go skiing, tubing, ice skating, golfing, tennis, biking, gem mining, mountain coaster, restaurants, shopping, and more.

This house was in a great location , however we would not stay again . We shared this space with two other couples . The bed space was limited . The host advertised two queen beds and one was clearly a double bed . Even upon leaving we found the sheets said double on them . We also found all beds to be very uncomfortable. The house was not clean , there was evidence of water damage throughout. The kitchen was well stocked and the creek under the house was very nice . There is a wood burning fireplace . You must provide the wood . Overall we had a great time but the beds certainly need to be replaced and the couch was broken as well .

Close to Sugar Mountain Sking

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As stated in several reviews the house is older. There was more than enough room for our family of 8. The heating worked well!! It was cold outside. Kitchen was well stocked. Views were gorgeous. There were games and books for downtime. A few issues. The repairs made seemed shoddy. The water in the master shower never got above lukewarm. The master patio nor the side door locked. I would recommend bringing a bag of ice as there were only ice trays. We also wanted to use the gas fire pit on the porch and called on friday to have it replaced as it was empty. When we left on Tuesday they still had not replaced it. We loved how close we were to the ski lodge. I will recommend renting your gear elsewhere as Sugar Mountain customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

This place is a fire hazard waiting to happen. Outlets sparking when plugging items in. Theres pre-existing water damgae all throughout the house. The kitchen wall is not level and is leaning thowards the living room. There is minimal hot water for showers. Shower heads were lose, spraying water on the mirror. There is a "mystery switch" at every light switch. Zero yard avlaible for kids to play in. The pictures advertised didnt reveal any of this. The beds are hard as rocks and the pillows are flat. Everyone that was with us including my wife and I woke up with stiff necks. The windows were open when we arrived as well as the house being unlocked yet those items are part of the check out procedures for checking prior to leaving. Im a cop who never gets to take vacations and now I see why I shouldnt even bother. Definitely not worth what we paid for.

Beautiful Weekend

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband wanted to getaway to the mountains for his birthday which happens to be a great time of year - October. We have stayed in several rentals in the Sugar Mtn, Beech Mtn, and Banner Elk area over the last few years and they have all been true to their listings, including this one. With 2 kids and MIL who often has to share a bed with a kid, this home provided enough rooms and more than enough beds for everyone to have their own bed and room. Having 3 bathrooms was awesome as well so that there was no fighting for bathroom time. If I had to say anything negative about our stay it would be that the house had an unusual amount of large flies that seemed to appear as the house warmed up. My guess is that a few flies got trapped in the house and over time their numbers increased and could t get out. It wasn’t a deal breaker for us, but we definitely could have used a fly swatter or two in the house to get rid of them. I might also suggest an upgrade to a larger TV in the living room to more closely match the size scale of the room which was spacious and open. Overall, we would DEFINITELY stay here again!

Everything was perfect. I would suggest the Owner add a more detail description of the properties amenities. We took our own grill cause one wasn’t listed and there was one at the property. As well as list out that there is a coffee maker and a keurig. We didn’t know so we couldn’t buy coffee prior to going to the house and then having to leave again. Mattresses in the rooms need to be replaced. The master was comfortable but the other beds had complaints. Over all it’s a beautiful cabin located in a very good location. It’s close to a lot of activities in the area and a close drive to towns near by.

We loved this place. The pictures dont do it justice. It's better in person. It is older but does provide a roof over your head and heat and air and that is all that really matters.

Reality company handling property very responsive. Let them know about bathroom doors not locking and dusty under stuff, and they said they would be on. Property (especially the stream) very nice & the set up of the bedrooms is great.

Location was great - especially if you ski. We were there in the summer and very nice hilly area. Property is a bit worn and not super clean. The lighting is terrible, cabinet fronts fell off (they repaired them), AC units very loud and ineffective in some rooms, bring your own kitchen utensils as the ones provided are very cheap. Property managers responsive but you can only do so much with a worn out property that hasn’t been well maintained.

This was a wonderful house for my family to get away from the heat of Charlotte. I had planned a lot of activities in the area, but my four city-fied kids spent more time exploring the creek and the wilderness behind the house than anything else. They loved it!This house was a great place to use a sort of a "homebase" for going around the high country. However, if you're looking for a place to stay in the summer where the house itself is main attraction, there are some things you should know about this one. First, there are dehumidifiers that run around the clock and add a lot of sensory overload to the environment. It didn't bother me, but if you have kids with sensory issues, this can really affect them and it makes it impossible to enjoy the sounds of nature from inside the house. They also make the hall light swing and bump around at night. Second, the bathrooms work but are pretty bare bones. Cracks in the tile, loose plumbing in the primary bathroom, and water spills out of the shower stall in the hall bath no matter what you do.Third, the kitchen and great room looks so cozy, but they are laid out kind of oddly in a way that doesn't take advantage of the space, and it just made it hard for seven people to cook and hang out without constantly bumping into each other.And, finally, the thing that I didn't expect is that there's no central air air-conditioning. I get that it's not really that hot up there, but the window units added to the noise inside.

Charming

House was in a great location for our trip. It fit our needs. There are some cosmetic issues in the house but nothing that would keep me from recommending a stay. We enjoyed the creek that runs across the property.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was nice by a rambling stream and close to nearby attractions . The home is not well-maintained with broken handles to adjust the windows opening and closing.The beds were uncomfortable and caused back issues. The furniture was old and not entirely pleasant to use. The gates to the deck were broken and we’re not good for those with small children. Emailing the property management about issues was non productive.

Great location

We really enjoyed our stay. The stream out front was beautiful and our kids enjoyed playing around it while we were there. The house was comfortable with lots of games and puzzles and the location was awesome. Very central and close to all the things we wanted to do and see. The house could stand a little updating/love with the master shower being tricky and just some chipping paint and wear around the house but all of that was quite minor. We would happily stay again.

Location and size were great. We were without internet from Fri nite to Sunday AM and had no TV while there. The shower in the master BR did not work. One of the kitchen chairs had a broken leg. There was dog hair in the LR. The deck was very dirty! Broken can opener in the kitchen and no scissors. Can opener was replaced. Poor lighting. Bedrooms were lovely.

So convenient for the slopes

We had a great time! The house was tiny but somehow still had plenty of room for all 10 of us! The squirrel that hangs on a swing in the kitchen was the highlight of the weekend.

Comfortable

This was our 3rd time staying here and we were so glad to see that they had upgraded the TV. Now if they can just do the same with the living room furniture and full size mattress in the first bedroom, it would be great! Saw a few of what looked like rat droppings in the back of some of the cabinets but overall everything else was clean. Excellent location as long as you don't get too much snow!
