Welcome to Beach Retreat West. This 2nd row duplex has it all. Enjoy great ocean and sound views without the oceanfront rental prices. This home is in excellent condition, with over 2000 sq. feet of living space. View the ocean or sound from every single room in the house. Walk out onto the decks, and the ocean views will take your breath away. I promise, once you have been here for a week, or two, you will never want to leave.

You will wake up in the mornings, walk out onto the decks, and gaze out over the beautiful Crystal Coast. Take a deep breath and you will smell Emerald Isle's salty air. This home has four bedroom, with queen beds (all with deck/balcony access), a kids' loft/entertainment area (four twin beds), with TV/VCR/DVD. There is also a large collection of books, movies, games, puzzles, and a stereo system all there for your enjoyment.

Cook all your favorite foods in the fully stocked kitchen, while you look out the window at the ocean. Dine in and entertain in the large, open living/ dining room. Watch t.v on the flat screen TV, while relaxing on the couch.

Step out on the deck the take in the gorgeous views of the beach from both directions. If you watch carefully, you may even catch a glimpse of dolphin swimming by. If the sun gets too hot for you on top, stroll downstairs, where you can enjoy a covered deck that provides lots of shade.

One of my favorite amenities with this home is the beach access. There is a wooden walkway directly across the street that leads you straight to the beach. This is extremely important if you are like me, with five kids and it seems like you bring everything but the kitchen sink with you. We always have so much to carry back and forth, that having the convenience of the beach access is priceless.

Finally, after a fun-filled day on the beach, put the kids to bed and walk back out onto the deck. Sit back and look at the moon as it shines over the ocean. This view will just put an exclamation point on your day. Get a good night sleep and get ready to do it all over again tomorrow.

Wonderful place

This duplex was awesome! We had so much space (bigger than it looks online), extremely clean and comfortable! It was across the street from the beach access and yet you could still see & hear the ocean and it wasnā€™t crowded! The owner was extremely fast at replying to my silly questions and the only issue is we had to leave! We will definitely be renting this in the future!

The house was perfect and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so close to the beach with easy access. Robin was very responsive to all questions and check in/out was a breeze. There is also a Dollar General really close by for anything extra we needed.

Perfect Location, great indoor space and nice decks

We loved that we could cross the street and immediately be on the beach. The houseā€™s outdoor shower, foot wash station, and washer/dryer on the bottom floor were all really helpful after lots of beach time. The space was clean and had a great kitchen and common area space. You can see parts of the ocean from the upper deck, and watch the moon rise over the water. Check in/out was easy.

Wonderful time!

The VRBO listing describes it to a T! Plenty of room for cars (6) and very close to the beach! Quiet neighborhood. Yes-there are a lot of stairs. No problem for us (oldest was in late 60s) but if someone has limited mobility it wouldnā€™t be a best pick. Can easily see the ocean on upper floors. (Enjoy your morning coffee). All appliances were working (sad that I have to say this-our last place at Nags Head managed by a realty company had broken washer before we walked in..and was not fixed or compensated.). The family all agreed this was our best vaca home in 4 years.

Perfect Location

Great location. Just across from the beach access. Very clean unit with comfortable furniture. Kitchen had all we needed including crockpot, griddle, air fryer, hot air pop corn maker and toaster oven. Great patio with ocean views and an ocean breeze to gather in the evening. There is also plenty of patio to get a little alone time. The kitchenware is standard VRBO stuff. Nothing special but there is plenty of it. Many of the glasses have hard water stains. They are clean though. The only minor issue we had is that the charcoal grill is very small. Communication with the owners was great and they were very helpful. Overall, I definitely recommend Beach Retreat West.

A great comfortable place for large groups of people

We enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend at this place . We all liked that and we enjoyed every bit of it. I will highly recommend that place.

Great Beach House

The house was just perfect, furnishings were nice. The beach access was across the street. You had an ocean view from the deck. We would definingly consider this house again. The owner responded quickly to my messages. The only negative is if someone has a problem with stairs there are a lot.

Our experience

The house itself is really nice, beautifully decorated and there is plenty of space for the whole family. There are several sets of steps and it is kinda of exhausted to go from one level to another, so be prepared. The location is great, just a very short walk from the beach. Overall, we did enjoyed our stay, but did have some issues. The house was not ready by the time we had to check in(4pm), the cleaning ladies were in a rush still cleaning and by the time we went in we realized that it wasnā€™t dust well and the floors were not well cleaned. We could feel some sand on our feet and we found sand in every bathroom specially in the corners. We had to vacuum ourselves. Before leaving, cleaning crew told us that they had left the bath towels in the dryer and ask us if we could get them out for us to use. There were only seven towels for our family of twelve. The cleaning company owner realized that there were only seven and told me that he was gonna bring the rest in the morning. Well, it was 10:30am the next day and the towels werenā€™t being delivered yet, so I got in touch with the property manager and after a while the rest of the towels were delivered. Itā€™ll be great if every bed had a blanket just in case itā€™s needed. One last thing, I donā€™t understand why charge so much in cleaning and linen fees if we basically leave the house clean with all the rules posted to follow. We loved Emerald Island and our stayed at the house besides this couple of issues.

Celebration of Life

Beach Retreat West was the perfect beach house for the 11 of us (ages 10 to 80) to get together for a celebration of life event for my Mom who recently passed away. She loved the beach and there was no better way to celebrate her than to all get together for a beach vacation on her behalf! The house was the perfect size for everyone to spend time together and when you needed a little time to yourself there was plenty of space to do so and getting to the beach was just a quick walk across the street! Robin was a wonderful host, quickly answering any questions we had. Thank you Robin for sharing your home with us for this very special time!

Beach retreat- what a treat!

Our family vacation was amazing. The location is optimal, house is clean and perfect for our family of 11. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies. The beach access was convenient for easy access to the beautiful beaches of the island. We will definitely be back!

Best next to beach front

Finally a house where everyone had a bed in an appropriate room! The huge ā€œatticā€ bedroom with 2 singles at each end was a perfect spot for kids to sleep and play. All the other bedrooms were pleasant. The main living area was a good size, the kitchen well equipped with pots, etc. I wish there had been 2 more chairs to put at the dining table so 8 adults could have sat together rather than 2 having to sit at the ā€œkidsā€™ā€ counter. The decks were great, especially the lower one outside 2 of the bedrooms which was a comfortably furnished shady hideaway. Ample parking. Best outdoor shower! And best of all, the house was only 1 house away from the beach access!

I have been vacationing at Emerald Isle for over 30 years. My family always looked forward to our summer vacations. We knew that every year would be memorable.
Now that I am grown up, married and have a family of my own, the tradition of vacationing in Emerald Isle continues. My children love to come to the beach. They have a great time. We all do!
When we are not at the beach, we reside in the foothills of North Carolina. We have five beautiful children, who keep us very busy with school and sports.
It has always been a dream of ours to have our own place at the beach. This past spring (2011), our dream came true. We are very excited about sharing our home away from home with you!

Emerald Isle has the most beautiful beaches anywhere. You can enjoy yourself on the beach without all the crowds. Take a short drive to nearby areas, where you can shop, dine, and take in the local scenery. Don't forget to visit the NC Aquarium. This is a fantastic place to bring the family and to learn all about the different regions in NC and the animals that inhabit them.

We love to hang out on the deck, drink our morning coffee, and watch the waves crash onto the beach.
We spend our days on the beach, enjoying the sand, sun, and water. My kids love to take turns burying each other in the sand and surf fishing with Dad!
We love to take long walks down the beach, watching the seagulls flying overhead, while the water washes up over our feet.
At night, the kids go back down to the beach where they like to go 'crab hunting'.
I always told my husband that this was my paradise and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I hope you feel the same once you experienced Emerald Isle.
