It is a quick walk to Spruce Island Lake and a sure guarantee that wildlife lovers and photography enthusiasts will be overwhelmed with the abundance of nature. Although it might be tough to talk the gang out of the yard, once inside there is ample space for family style feasts and friendly socializing. Timeless offers six private bedrooms divided between the main house and the ā€œcarriage houseā€, perfect for segregating ages or dividing two families. Both houses offer cable TV and gas fireplaces. The main house also features a pool table, Jacuzzi tub and WIFI. Enjoy the convenience of the fully-equipped kitchen and all the comforts of this one of a kind Canaan Valley home.

The views are endless here ,we love to hike and fish and just paddle around the lake plus so close to 2 state parks you should not be bored. Loved the addition of the basketball hoop ! We also like to take the grandkids bike riding and the house and area are perfect for that. The pots and pans could use some updating and a king size bed upstairs would be a plus. The staff is always very helpful with any need we have.

The property was absolutely beautiful and my family enjoyed every bit of it. The views from the living room were spectacular! You could see the ski slopes of Timberline. The deer wondered around the property. I had been to Canaan multiple times during the summer when I was younger, but never experienced it as an adult. Overall, the BEST vacation ever!

Having a separate adjacent house where our son, duaghter in law and grnadkids stayed was great. Onlyt negative is that bsathrooms and ddecor are not luxuriousa - fixtures are out of date; mediocre pictures on walls. But these negatives are more than offset by up to date kitchen and comfy living room furniture.

Great view, wonderful neighborhood

Our family of 9 enjoyed our stay at timeless. We loved the view of the mountain. Easy access to Dolly Sods in the community. Abundance of animals, Bald eagles, coyote, owls, deer, fox and much more. Lots of trails to hike and bike in the area. Many great waterfalls to see. The house needs some upkeep. The kitchen had an abundance of ants where the wall was a little rotted behind the sink. The 2 twin mattresses are totally shot, and the bunks were not too good. Some of the window blinds are beat up. Both of the houses have a great layout. We would return for another vacation at Timeless. The house just needs a little TLC.

Nice to see upgrades in the kitchen. The carriage house needs some TLC. Bunk beds need replaced. Donā€™t feel save having kids sleep in them. Heater in bathroom didnā€™t work and toilets needed repaired. Minor things but critical.

Reviewer Comments: My husband and I travel to Canaan Valley to stay in Timberline every October, this year we also talked our friend group of 12 to come down for our annual ā€œFriendsgivingā€ trip. The house was amazing and fit each couple perfectly. We loved the open concept of the living area as we were all able to be together while we were preparing the meal. The view was spectacular, my husband and I have stayed at the top of the mountain, in many different rentals throughout Old Timberline and I have to say this house is our new favorite. It snowed most of the day our first full day down and seeing the view of the snow covered mountain made our holiday trip so cozy and comforting. We enjoyed our stay very very much.

Less windy than the cabins we usually stay in up the mountain but still has access to Dolly Sods. With two houses in this rental, we could put all our kids(ages14-20) in one house and the adults could stay in the big house.It could have been a little cleaner but it wasnā€™t problematic for us(just plastic water bottles and trash under my bed and couch from the previous tenants and some dust bunnies)Best of Canaan is always very helpful and friendly. We would love to return to this property either to hike again or XC ski.

More color this year. Glad to see new washer and dryer, and some updates (kitchen backsplash, bathroom in cottage partially updated, new bunks, new towels). Would love to see new mattresses in several BR......lower BRs in main house, for example. Occasional chairs in LR are very uncomfortable but .......Itā€™s not enough to stop us from coming back! The owner has made some updates to some of the furniture and it was nice to be able to sit around the fireplace with family and friends and relax. You cannot get a better view off the deck and there were plenty of deer that came to visit every day. Did plenty of hiking and exploring up at Dolly Sods and over North Fork Mountain and ate at several great places in the area. Sirianni's, Mama Mia's, and Canaan Lodge were wonderful. Property was clean and well-maintained and suited our needs well. The staff at Best of Canaan are truly the BEST! We love to see their smiling faces every time we are there and consider all of you our extended family!

We could not have found a better location and rental organization with "Best of Canaan". The ladies at the office were helpful and responsive to our situation and needs, and quick to respond to our questions and urgencies (like promptly having a replacement propane tank when the first one ran out). We are already considering the same unit for next year. We hiked the Dolly Sods with our two-year old in the kiddy back pack, fished in the lake, and visited our family's homesteads. A great time was had by all.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was pretty nice and had beautiful views. There was a lot of room for our extended family. And the area was nice as well. There's a nice trail going around the lake, and you can fish w/o a license since it's private. No swimming, though. Gladly, too. My 4-yo was wading in sandals and when we came in and took her sandals off, there was a leech attached to her foot. And we saw 3-/4-foot fish, and some snakes and snapping turtles. We did kayak, though. Patrick with Blackwater Outdoor Adventures rented them to us for the week and even delivered and picked them up. I'm not usually one to write reviews, let alone complain about a place, but we weren't very pleased with the rental company. Firstly, my husband called to ask about a fire pit. He was told there wasn't one and that we couldn't have a fire other than in places designated for a fire. So we went out and bought one of those free-standing ones, and when we got there, there WAS a firepit. If they had the knowledge of the property that they should've, it would've saved us the time getting one and having to take it back and all the room wasted in the car there and back. Secondly, one of the things they claimed was great was the yard, and when we got there on Sunday the grass wasn't cut/was high. It was a concern of mine having the tall grasses with toddlers running around in a nature preserve with all the deer and ticks, and also wanting to play games out in the yard. They didn't get someone out there to cut it until Thursday. Thirdly, when we got there the sheets on our bed & my sister's smelled funny and had some "stains". We took the sheets off and washed them, and the "stains" were gone...yeah, gross. The property managers response was-maybe they overloaded the washing machine, which they tend to do....still gross. I will say that other than the sheets, though, the place seemed pretty clean, but the sheets made me wonder. Definitely not a good experience with the rental company.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It started out not great even checking in. I had talked to people associated with the property multiple times and it was known by all that it was a surprise for my wifeā€™s 40th birthday. The lady at the guard shed asked about the other seven vehicles arriving and even after I asked her to drop it she continued on- it went entirely over her head. While the view was beautiful, and basic needs were met it was sub- par at best for what youā€™d expect for the price and destination. There were pee stains on blankets, trash stuffed in the back of closets and left under chairs. Upon arrival the freezer door was pretty much broken, so we were as gentle as possible but still, not entirely sure why that wouldnā€™t be something that would be kept up on. It could definitely use a good scrub down from top to bottom. The windows looked like they hadnā€™t been cleaned in several stays, Childs hands are fine as we all have them - but they werenā€™t with us this weekend and there were small prints caked on every window and door. Main house bathroom downstairs- toilet issues. Not sure if itā€™s something with the seal but it would barely flush- and the water backed up all the way up onto the sink drain each time it did. Could use a fresh coat of paint in every room and some heavy dusting. Cobwebs were everywhere. Door locks are also a little iffy and arenā€™t that secure.
