You do not have to be an owl to know this recently upgraded Canaan Valley home is an incredibly wise lodging choice! For your next trip to the mountains plan to be completely comfortable and conveniently located in this recently “reloved” two-story home. Nestled in the trees on Cabin Mountain in the gated Old Timberline community, Little Owl Lodge offers a well-equipped kitchen with seats for dining inside and out. Evenings are the perfect time to gather around the woodburning fireplace for a movie or board game. Your well behaved canine is welcome! Nature awaits right outside the door! Kids will love exploring amongst the trees for hours. It is a quick trip to Blackwater Falls, Timberline Mountain, and Canaan Resort from this cozy four-bedroom cabin. Little Owl Lodge provides easy access to Dolly Sods and requires four-wheel drive vehicles , good tires, and possibly tire chains for winter access.

The property is located in a very picturesque setting. The house itself was clean and well stocked.The number of bedrooms with bathrooms attached (with radiant heat flooring) was an attractive feature. Each room has its own mini split air conditioner/heater and the bed was comfortable. We hope to be back next year!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 4 bedrooms and 4 separate bathrooms. Great for two families. Everyone had their own space. Unfortunately mini-split heaters weren't working so we had to use base board heating, which was a bit dusty. Living room furniture a bit dated. Loved the record player and record collection - added to the charm. Lots of hooks in hallway to hang up all the snow gear. Steep driveway, but no problem with 4-wheel drive.

The new, larger TV runs Roku and was accessible - with a little effort - to use with our own subscriptions. This is a great place to stay.

Impressive Updates to Timberline Vacation Home

A great getaway

Great house with enough bathrooms and bedrooms for 7 of us. All that you may need is already included. They have 2 lakes and a pond if you’re into fishing (don’t even need to buy license). Close drive to many hikes and beautiful waterfalls! Would come back again.

Nice house

This is a nice house for a multi-generational family. The driveway up to the house is scary when it it is very snowy and icy. There is a nice collection of LPs and an LP-player if you like Jonny Cash, Emmy Lou and others, which we do.

New Year at Little Owl

Little Owl Lodge is a cute little property tucked up in the woods in old Timberline. The space is really well laid out for gathering and spending time with friends. A total of four couples and three small dogs stayed and everyone felt comfortable and at home. It is a huge plus that every bedroom has its own bathroom! We enjoyed listening to records and sitting by the fire. The house is an excellent value for the price and I would rebook a stay there in the future.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was perfect for our group of 7. Be prepared to have 4 wheel drive for the driveway. The only disappointments were the main bedroom downstairs was missing its controller to the wall unit and it was HOT in the room at night. The main adult rooms also didn’t have TV’s. For two couples at night this was a little disappointing but nothing major. Pans to cook with could use replacing. There is also a soft spot on the deck, please use caution, we moved the table over it so no one would walk on it. The bathrooms were gorgeous and heated floors in winter would be absolutely amazing to experience. The pictures of this house need updated. It’s way better in person! Sky light windows, beautiful bathrooms, the master upstairs is massive, the open layout of the downstairs is wonderful. Its location is great! We would stay here again with a few minor updates.

They’ve never been so relaxed and not edgy and barking all the time. I wish the porch did have a gate so you could let the dogs out without worrying about them, but I did move some furniture to where they could go outside on the porch. I love having a bathroom in every bedroom. That was very nice. I just wish there was Wi-Fi because I had to use my hotspot the whole time but that’s OK. Very private setting. Loved it !!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Timberline is a lovely area and Little Owl Lodge is one beautiful place! We were five ladies and we like to cook and eat. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with essentials. The house is good for lounging and card playing. The bedrooms were comfortable. The whole house needs a little TLC, but with new owners, I’m sure it will be taken care of soon! Close to parks and hiking trails. It’s nice to walk the roads and see other homes nearby! We had no internet but they tried to fix it for us promptly, three times. The whole development recently had new internet company and having a little trouble. That was a little disappointing.
