Family summer getaway

Property was perfect except for a few needed repairs, nothing that affected our comfort. Enjoyed hiking and exploring the area. A beautiful valley.

Beautiful Canaan valley!

Canaan Valley is our favorite place in WV! The weather is amazing and the views are breath taking! If you stay at Rock Wall Inn your going to be in the center of just about everything you want to do! It’s an excellent cabin, very clean, spacious and has all the comforts one needs while in the mountains. My family of 5 and another family of 5 stayed comfortably for 4 days.

Enjoyed Stay

We really enjoyed our trip. The house has so much space that we really enjoyed the stay! The kitchen was a joy to cook in, which made cooking for Thanksgiving a joy! Also, enjoyed the hot tub and a visit to Backwater Falls!! Enjoyed the trip with my two sons and my friend and her husband came and visit for an evening and morning! Really enjoyable!! ❤️

Canaan Valley Stay

We travel with motorcycles and this is perfect for three to 4 motorcycles to park in the garage. House is large so we have plenty of space. Inside and outside amenities are perfect.

Nice stay

House was clean and as advertised. It served nicely for a week of motorcycle riding. The eating choices are a bit sparse in the area but the house had a restaurant right up the street and Davis was a 20 minute drive. That was a real plus!

Rock Wall Inn

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Rock Wall Inn for 4 nights in mid-July. The house was the perfect size for our stay. The location is readily accessible and easy to find. The home was clean and well organized. The kitchen has ample dishes, pots and pans, and accessories (although I recommend adding a complete set of dry measuring cups and a rolling pin). We enjoyed hiking each day--Douglas Falls, Seneca Rocks and Splash Dam South, where we picked enough wild blueberries and a few black raspberries for a pie. Corn hole at Big Timber Brewing was a hit, and Sirianni's Pizza is a MUST for our visits. TipTop Coffee in Thomas gets repeat business during our stay. The garage is a plus, and there is a large amount of dry firewood available for the fire pit. Hot tub was nice too. The upstairs bedrooms are very warm in the summer despite air conditioning, and there are no bedroom ceiling fans. For a summer stay, I suggest bringing a couple of fans, or the owners should provide fans for guests to use. (I brought 2 with me based on other reviews, and I'm glad I did.)

Only hiccup we encountered was the keurig didn’t work and we had brought specialty drinks for it. Nice house, great location

Very nice modern house with an open floor plan and cathedral ceilings. Kicthen is well stocked with all the tools you'll need. Gas stove, toaster, coffee maker, microwave are all there as appliances. Nice deck with a well maintained hot tub. All linens, towels, paper towels, TP included. 1/4 mile from the main parking lot at Timberline. Check in/out was super easy at the Best of Canaan realty office about mile away. 2 things that would make this great get away even nicer - a fireplace and some privacy for the hot tub...neighbors are close by.

Timberline Mtn ski trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We drove almost 6 hours from Conover NC to stay at Rock Wall Inn and ski/snowboard Timberline Mtn. The house is literally 2 minutes from the entrance of timberline ski resort. The house was very clean and had everything we needed as far as pots and pans, coffee maker, ski boot warmers etc.. The beds were comfortable and linens also clean. The house was nicely decorated and the overall layout worked well. The garage was also a bonus. There were a few areas that could use some improvements. The front yard was littered with cigarette butts, the hot tub jacuzzi lights did not work, the top rack of the dish washer was broken, the single recliner did not recline while plugged in, and the grill was dirty and caused a small grease fire which was contained.

Fun family vacation spot but a little hot upstairs at times.

We spent the week in this beautiful cabin and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I checked to ensure it was air conditioned because we had a 4-year-old and a 4-month old that nappes in the heat of the day. The listing said AC, but it was only downstairs (2 bedrooms are upstairs). This resulted in the air being cold downstairs to try to cool the upstairs a little during the day. We also had to go buy fans for upstairs. At night it wasn't too bad with the windows and fans on, but it was still cold downstairs. Please list this so people will bring fans, and plan accordingly or purchase fans for bedrooms and baths upstairs. Additionally, the electricity went off the first evening we were there for a few hours. There were no flashlights or candles anywhere in the cabin and no place in the area had them to purchase. When I checked with the management company, they had no suggestions. She said, " it was dark at her house too." I understand that is out of her control, but I bet she had flashlights, candles or something. We had small children, so they were a little scared. Luckily, it was time for bed so we used our phones to get them ready for bed and it came back on before morning. I think the management company should have a plan for such instances or there should be flashlights and batteries in the cabin, at the very least. Otherwise, we loved this cabin and the area. I would stay here again, but I would bring my own flashlights and fans, knowing what I know now.

Reviewer Comments: Most things about the house were good but there were a few things that were big issues for our group. First the good: The house was generally clean - there was a little dust but it looked like nothing more than what you would find in any house that had sat unoccupied for a bit. The kitchen was spacious and there were adequate pots and pans for most uses. Dining room table was large enough to actually hold a good number of people. Beds were comfortable and furniture seemed to all be in really good shape.The minor bad: There are spiders and spiderwebs around the outside. It seems they definitely spray or something because they seem to stay outside. There's not that many of them but they are around. I mention this only because it's a trigger for some. And The refrigerator really is pretty loud and smelled a bit when first opened. It's obvious that something spoiled in it at some point and leaked into the cooler vents. The smell wasn't terrible but was noticeable. The bad: The 'rock wall' that gives this house it's name comes down the wall and then juts several feet out into the living room on the floor - and the stones stuck up probably 2 inches from the floor - too far into the living room. It was a pretty big tripping hazard and was a detraction from the rest of the house as you had to be extra careful where you were walking in the living room. I wouldn't recommend for anyone with small children, the elderly or anyone with mobility issues. The other bad thing were the bathtubs. They were much more narrow than average but that wasn't the real problem. The real problem is that they slope in from both sides. Enough so that I couldn't even put my feet side-by-side without being on the slope. Combined with being completely smooth (ie no grip etching.) This was another hazard that keeps me from recommending it unless you are short with small feet. All of that said, for the right group, this house would be perfectl

Great Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location was great, house was spacious and clean. There was a new cafe/grocery store within walking distance. Our only issue was that the WiFi did not work so we could not watch TV and in this area there is not much to do at night. We called and emailed the company in charge to get the WiFi fixed and there was a lack of communication. Seemed like they were only available during office hours so we waited until then to call and they said they would send someone from maintenance and call the provider and when we returned that evening WiFi was not fixed. No response to emails after that. Upon check out they agreed that they dropped the ball on communication but that did not make up for it in my opinion.

Great Place!

Stayed here for 6 nights with 4 friends on an annual guys trip. Was impressed by how clean the house was and how well everything was kept. Probably the best equipped kitchen we have seen. Bedrooms were all nice and large (especially upstairs) and beds were very comfortable. As others have mentioned, there is no AC upstairs but turning on the fans in the 2-story family room really circulates the air well. Hot tub was a very nice extra as was having use of the garage (those of us with nicer cars appreciated it greatly). Only thing we would have liked to see would be some extra towels for the bathrooms (we were provided just about one towel per person) and some extra paper towels for the kitchen as only one roll was provided. Other than that, we all agreed this may be the first place we visit twice! Surrounding area had a lot of things to do. Many beautiful, winding, well-maintained roads for bikers or sports car drivers. Davis and Thomas are hopping towns (from Thurs-Sun) with a number of shops and restaurants. Blackwater Falls was beautiful, as are some of the hiking trails right near the house. We also visited Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob, which are both within an hour of the house.
