Welcome to The Whale’s Tale by Shoreside Sanctuaries – a spacious waterfront home in Gig Harbor that’s perfect for families, groups, or anyone who enjoys great views, good coffee, and relaxing while someone else deals with the minions, I mean children. Wink wink, Ya gotta love em'!
Less than an hour from Seattle, this 3,400-square-foot home sits on nearly half an acre overlooking Mt. Rainier, Raft Island, and Henderson Bay. Whether you’re spotting orcas, grilling on the deck, or hiding with a book and a latte, you’ll have plenty of space to do your thing.
🛏️ Sleeping arrangements:
2 king bedrooms
1 queen bedroom
1 office with a queen sleeper sofa
3 full bathrooms + a half bath Real beds. Real privacy. No bunk beds or air mattresses.
🛋️ Room to relax:
The open living area has hardwood floors, big windows, a cozy bay seat, and an electric fireplace. There’s room to gather—or to escape from the group for a few quiet minutes of sanity.
☕ Coffee snobs welcome:
We take our caffeine seriously.
You ’ll find a full espresso setup including:
A top notch espresso make with QR code instructions
A single-serve brewer
French press
Vietnamese phin filter
Pour-over kit
Plus plenty of mugs, so no one’s stuck drinking from a measuring cup.
🍳 Kitchen perks:
Large island, induction cooktop, granite counters, and stocked for REAL cooking. Whether you’re making seafood pasta or just plating up takeout like a pro, you’re covered.

Deck and balcony overlook a garden, fire pit, and the bay. Grill, dine outside, toss a Frisbee, or just sit back and soak it in. The private neighborhood beach is just a 5-minute walk—gate key included.

About Shoreside Sanctuaries:
After years of working corporate jobs in the city, where we rarely had time to truly enjoy family, friends, or life, we decided to uproot our lives and embark on a new adventure in the Pacific Northwest. While we bounced around before landing, we were determined to find a sanctuary—a place where, regardless of our jobs or the stresses of life, we could find relief and peace as soon as we walked through the door. That place became The Whale's Tale.
Living in this beautiful shoreside sanctuary inspired us to purchase another waterfront property, which we now share with family, friends, and guests like you. Although we still have jobs outside of our vacation rentals, Shoreside Sanctuaries is our passion. We love creating spaces where people can gather, relax, heal, and create lasting memories OR their own "Whale of a Tale" if you will. I know some of you were thinking we just misspelt that. ;)

The Whale's Tale is truly a sanctuary space. There is something about it that just brings a sense of peace. While it's only 20 minutes from all of the things most people are used to in the city, you feel far away from the hustle and bustle. The second you walk outside, you're immersed in nature. The smell of pines, the ocean, fresh flowers in the spring and cool rain in the winter. The sound of the waves, the wind rustling through the trees, and the songs of a hundred birds. Inside you'll find a clean and modern aesthetic with tasteful decor and thoughtful amenities. Did we mention our bar set up is also on point? Perfectly located between downtown Seattle, Olympia, and the peninsula’s breath taking Olympic National Forest ( all approximately an hour’s drive from each), the world is your oyster. In fact, some of the finest oysters can be found less than a mile from the house at Minter Oyster Company. Want to see some Salmon, we've got a hatchery less than a mile away too. Between it's location, the house itself and the exquisite exterior the better question would be, "Why not this Property?"
