Pros: The layout, number and size of beds, number of bathrooms, kitchen/great room - all excellent and met our needs for 16 adults perfectly.Cons: Communication was lacking. I had to reach out several times to get information and I feel that the information should have been provided beforehand. For example: I called for the code to the house and was told it would be sent to me via text on the day I was to arrive. I had to call again as I was driving there, only to learn that my house was not going to be ready upon my arrival. Joe offered to buy dinner which was nice but then we get to our house only to find out we got moved to the house next door (both owned by you and identical in layout but still...).The other communication issue that stands out was the parking. We had arranged to use the neighboring house parking a week in advance as it was not rented out yet. When we arrived, the other house had been rented and we had no overflow parking- since I had made this arrangement with Joe, I would have expected that he would have let me know he rented out the house next door and we no longer had overflow parking as we then had to scramble to make other arrangements.One more side note: I had called to find out if we could bring our dog as she had just had knee surgery and just needed to be crated and loved on and was told that no pets were allowed in any of your properties. The house next door had FOUR dogs!!I did send a list of suggested household needs to Joe......

Nice place. Close to beach but no view. The trail from the street to the beach was difficult. At 72, I only navigated once with help. All else was great! Everyone had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful time with family. The large house made it easy for everyone to move around comfortably. We were disappointed with the lack of supplies. We spent time running to the store for garbage bags, foil, dish rags, dish towels, general cleaner, shampoo, soap for the showers and laundry soap. One towel and wash cloth was not quite enough for our 5 day stay so we needed to stop and do laundry.

It was a great property. Liked the baths with bedrooms. Not enough paper towels or trash bags. They don't travel well on planes!! We didn't realize there were only 3 pool towels.. again, space in luggage. The smoke alarms are super sensitive...just turn on a burner, and they go off!! A couple people didn't have access to the beach due to the climb, but the kids loved it; even flew new kites one evening. Everyone enjoyed the spa, but those covers are HEAVY! We even roasted marshmallow over the firepit. We had 15 people consisting of 4 generations from 4 states!! They enjoyed it enough, they want to do it again somewhere else.

Group of 13 ladies annual trip

The home is very clean. The beds are very comfortable. The fireplace is nice. There were enough dishes for 20 people. Our group has come to the beach annually for 28 years. We loved the size of this house. We loved the size of the table and the ability to all sit together for meals.The not so good: swim spa was not heated as well as the pool. We had to wait a day to soak. The cover was so heavy it took 4 people to uncover and cover the hot tub. The tub was dirty with sand and debris. 1 oven did not work, 1 microwave did not work, some tvs did not work, table and stove location caused a small fire. None of the toilets flushed properly. The back had to be taken off the toilets for every flush. Ther was only 6 partial rolls of toilet paper. There was not a blow dryer to be found out of 8 bathrooms. No DVD player in the living room. There were 2 wash clothes, a few hand towels and not enough towels for a house that sleeps 20. There was only 6 beach towels as well.We will not be revisiting this house.

Clean and well equipped.

Overall it was very nice and accommodated all our needs. We did have 3 small children in the group. The fact there were no screens on the upstairs windows is a hazard. For safety reasons, you really should get screens on them. Other than that, it was a great place to stay, and everyone I had contact with was very helpful.

Overall good

Had issues with the toilet in a downstairs bathroom, noisy kids playing in hot tub next to us, next to bedrooms, not enough kitchen towels for a large group & no dish cloth to wipe off huge kitchen table.

Quiet location, large home

This was a beautiful home. We only rented one side. Opening the windows lets cool air come in, and you should keep your windows open at night. However, the people who rented the house next door were partyiers—talking loudly and drinking until midnight for the first few nights. This made it hard for people whose rooms were closest to leave their windows open for fresh air. The furniture was fine. The beds are soft, which I like, but everyone has a favorite bed type. My main complaint is the kitchen fan. It did not work. Joe (the staff overseeing the property) immediately sent a worker to address it. Unfortunately, the worker said it was broken and needed a total replacement (which would take some time after we left, given the required time to get a replacement). That meant every day, at every meal (2-3 times a day), the smoke alarms would go off when we fried food or used the oven. When we boiled water for noodles, it did not go off. Other times, it went off. I hope this is fixed as it was inconvenient. The trick to reduce the length of noise was opening ALL the windows on the 1st floor and the door closest to the backyard/patio. We also had someone stand close to the smoke alarm closest to the back door and fan it to reduce the time it would go off. If the fan is fixed and there are quiet neighbors, the walk to the beach is worth it. Note: the walk isn't safe for someone with mobility issues as the area is currently being cared for to prevent erosion.

Nice House with 10 bedrooms.

Enjoyed having so many bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen was well set up for large group. Also enjoyed the big hot tub. Short walk to nice beach.

Christmas getaway

Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect for our large group of adults. The kitchen and large eating area was great. The living area was not large enough for the occupancy of the house. Fireplace did not work. Another table for smaller groups to play games would have been nice. Beach access was not great. Neighborhood ok. Property manager was outstanding and always available and helpful.

Surfer’s Beach Retreat Just a Fair Rental

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny, the location is good when speaking of it’s proximity to beaches, parks, attractions but the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired, trashy yards as you enter from the highway, very rundown houses/rentals and it was very concerning as we approached the house. Parking is very tight especially considering this place is supposed to accommodate 20 people and there is no on street parking. There is an identical unit next door, which they don’t tell you, you basically share the yard with. Our neighbors, were up until past midnight each night they were there with the flood lights on, which shone directly into 5 of the bedrooms. They were also loud and smoking all the time they were out there. We tried to intervene each night but got no where with them. When we arrived the garbage cans were over filled with bags of garbage all over the yard. We were instructed to put the cans out on Sunday night but not the overfill, which would have filled the 2 cans again and would have left us no room for our garbage. Some of our group got up and spoke with the garbage collectors and got them to take all of the extra bags which we had to gather and take out to the road to get collected. The second day were were there one of the on suite bathroom toilets backed up and we were accused of putting a diaper down the toilet, funny we didn’t have any children in diapers in our group. It took them 2 days to get that issue fixed. 2 smoke detectors were totally missing, one was in a bedroom. As mentioned in other reviews multiple windows, almost half, do not have screens. I specifically asked about that prior to our stay and was told that the upstairs windows should not be opened for “safety” because someone could fall out a window, even with a screen....and if we needed to be cooler we should use the air conditioning to cool down. Overall we enjoyed our stay, it was plenty of room for our large family! We had some questions at the very beginning and I called Joe and he took care of our requests right away! Loved our time together and the beautiful weather we were rewarded with!
