This delightful vacation home near Roche Harbor offers all the essentials to make your vacation memorable - a waterfront exposure, superb location, comfortable furnishings, wood-burning fireplace, communication and entertainment electronics - and a feel-good, unpretentious atmosphere that defines the classic Island lifestyle. This three bedroom (two queen beds and two twin beds) home faces south with a view across pristine Neil Bay, and features a great room with floor to ceiling windows that open onto a large bi-level deck. This is where you'll likely spend time catching the sun, enjoying morning coffee, dining on long summer evenings, and watching the eagle, geese, and other bird life explore the nearby salt-water lagoons.

This home is located in a desirable neighborhood on the NW side of San Juan Island, about a 20 minute drive from Friday Harbor and the ferry. You can walk to nearby Roche Harbor within 20 minutes, where you'll find an airstrip, kid's pool, post office, marina, market, artists kiosks, shops, and three restaurants.

If you plan to tour the islands by boat, you'll appreciate the convenience of tying it up to the 40 foot dock. But, do be aware that Neil Bay can go very shallow - tide charts must always be consulted before arrival and departures by private boat.

Please note this home has two steps to get to the entrance.

There were a few issues but the mgmt company addressed them or at least were willing to. I would stay there again.

Fantastic San Juan Escape

We loved having morning coffee on the deck overlooking Neil Bay and watching the abundant wildlife! We saw many harbor seals, deer and bald eagles! The deck made an excellent place for viewing the 4th of July fireworks that were ignited at Roche Harbor. The house is extremely clean and well kept with everything you need. We had a fabulous vacation!

Amazing location

We had an amazing time on Neil Bay! The proximity to Roche Harbor, the personal dock for our boat, the layout of the home, the ease of finding everything, and the view of the bay - all made our stay incredible. We will certainly be booking again. The only hangup we had was dancing around monitoring low tide (if you are a boater). Low tide was just 1' at times, so we had to make sure we weren't coming in or leaving around that time. Crabbing just outside of Neil Bay was pretty great too!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I will start with the Refrigerator, door does not close all the the way so hard to keep everything cold. The owner needs to talk to the the neighbor about working on (cars) at 2,3,4:00 in the morning.The same neighbor lets his (BARKING) dog out about 5:00 am so you can see not easy to get any sleep. I will tell you the home is very nice.Having the dock out front is really convenient.The home is minutes away from Roche Harbor (great fireworks)! Over all had a nice time. I will rent here again, but will bring ear plugs next time.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A doe and her fawn were resting next to the house when we drove up on our first day. Didn't budge an inch until we got our suitcases out of the card and started rolling toward the door. Their casual attitude told us we really on island time now! We saw deer almost daily, along with bald eagles and seals in the bay. The house was spotless when we arrived and had everything needed to make our stay relaxing and stress free. Beds and other furniture was very comfortable and the view of bay from the living area windows added to the relaxation. Most of our party of Texans had never seen tidal flows which raised/lowered the water level by 6 to 10 feet every day. Fascinating! The dock for the house always had good water, but lots of new sea life was revealed as the water came and went. In addition to other activities, while we were on the island we attended a wedding at the Roche Harbor Resort which was only minutes away. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we will check to see if it's available the next we're in the area.

Neil Bay - Close of September

The Davison Head property on Neil Bay was exceptionally peaceful and allowed an immediate connection with the natural surroundings - both wooded and aquatic. The birds, mammals, and sea life were all as advertised! It provided a beautiful space to connect with family throughout the day - for meals, casual conversations, and preparation for the next island adventure. We Love Neil Bay

This is our third rental on Neil Bay and by far our favorite. The large deck was like a magnet. The five of us spent many hours out there watching the wildlife and dining. The home is spacious, with comfortable furniture and beds, quality linens, light and airy bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. The location is perfect for walking, kayaking, and bike rides into Roche Harbor and surroundings. We had a wonderful time and hope to return!

Perfect Location

Our family gave it a 5-star rating because of its convenience to Roche Harbor (walking) and the good dock. We are a boating family - fishing, crabbing or exploring were our activities. We managed to get out of Neil Bay early a.m. before low tide and return in the evening at high tide. The kitchen/living arrangements were more than adequate for the evenings that we cooked in! All in all - it was a delightful experience and we are happy with our choice.

Return Visit…

This is the third time we’ve stayed at this excellent property. We love the protected moorage, wood fireplace, spacious accommodations and well equipped kitchen. It’s a nice walk into Roache Harbor. Note, the moorage can be less than 3 feet during zero or minus tides, so it’s not for larger boats…. Property management at this property is excellent!

Great shallow draft boat/dock property!

This is a very nicely appointed property Davidson Head near Roache Harbor that provides well protected moorage for boats that draw less than 24” of water at MLLW. We have a power catamaran so it just works for us…. We’ve stayed here a few times and find Northwest Island Escapes to be very professional and helpful. We’ve stayed in several of their managed properties with excellent experiences in each one. Doug & Sandy Thomas Bellingham WA

Perfect Getaway

This home is in a great location, right near Roche Harbor, but it is so quiet and peaceful. We loved relaxing with the beautiful bay view and the house had all the comforts of home. Northwest Island Escapes was great to rent from and they were very responsive to our needs.

Family Getaway for Memorial Day Weekend

My family and I came to Roche Harbor over Memorial Day weekend and had an amazing stay at this home. We were looking for beautiful views and access to nature, and this property delivered. The home is tucked away in the forest like most homes in the area and there are stunning views of the bay and forest on the other side of the water. The large windows in the living room and master bedroom provide great views. The private dock was a real treat for our family. Our kids spent hours fishing, catching crabs, and exploring at low tide. My wife and I enjoyed morning coffees and afternoon cocktails sitting on the deck and taking in the fresh air and the views. The home was comfortable and perfect for what we were looking for. It is an older home and there are some stains on the carpet in the bedrooms. It was no big deal for us. We were not able to figure out the television setup which might have been "user error", but we didn't miss the screens, it was more time to be outside or reading a book by the fire. This home is a great value. I highly recommend this home if you are looking for a relaxing vacation close to nature.

Beautiful and comfortable

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable home. The kids enjoyed exploring along the beach and the view from the deck was wonderful. Everything was really clean and comfortable. Would definitely consider staying again.

Perfect Family getaway

We had a lovely stay- so quiet and restful. The views were stunning and we enjoyed the fire table outside and fire inside. Beds were very comfortable and home very clean. We hope to return again!

Island paradise

We had a fantastic time here! The view from the house and the deck is outstanding. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with spices, appliances, pots and pans. The bedrooms were well laid out and super cozy. This was the perfect place to get away and enjoy the island quiet.

Great Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this house was awesome! Loved the views, the dock, the easy walk to Roche Harbor. We spent a lot of time in our kayaks and inflatable boat. We caught crab in Neil Bay. The water near the dock gets pretty shallow so a larger boat would probably not work. We loved the outdoor seating and the outdoor gas fireplace. There were 5 adults and plenty of room in the house. The interior is a bit older and could use some updating, but it was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location

Great place to stay, we had an hour delay to get in and then in the morning the coffee pot had a crack in it and coffee was everywhere. All and all it is an excellent place to stay.
