The Retreat Is A Family Friendly Home In A Gated Community.

The Retreat is a beautiful luxury home located in a secluded and peaceful gated community on the north west side of San Antonio. The house is nestled among 300 year old oaks trees on nearly an acre of land. The single family home its a one story level and has 4 bedrooms, and 3 full baths. It includes a quiet reading/music area, two eating areas as well as a large bar counter in a large gourmet kitchen. The living room is an open floor plan where large family and friends can gather. The newly remodled large outdoor deck, overlooks an outdoor kitchen with BBQ grill and Fireplace. The house has a large back yard, with a koi fountain and pergola to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The retreat is tastefully decorated and fully stocked with linens, towels cleaning supplies, and laundry facilities that you may need during your stay. The house includes one King, three Queen, and one Full bed / futon in its bedrooms. There are two additional inflatable queen beds for your use if needed. The three bathrooms are complete with shower and tub and fully stocked with all the essentials. There are additional pillows and blankets to keep your and your family at a comfortable level.
Wi-Fi internet is available in the house, and two I-pads are supplied for your use while staying at The Retreat. Many shopping conveniences and restaurans are near by and easy freeway acces all near the house for your convenience. It is close to Lackland AFB, Sea World, Fiesta Texas, and The River Walk is only 15-20 minutes away. There are many shopping centers and restaurants to accommodate all your needs. Movie theaters, bowling alleys, and shooting complex range are all near by too.

The good - the sinks, showers, linens were all clean. We also had plenty of toilet paper and toiletries. However, the carpet and floors were filthy. There were 42 rugs in the house and 35 were dirty throw rugs/tripping hazards all over the filthy carpet. The site refers to a 'backyard oasis' but the outside is unusable. It is in dangerous condition, inground hot tub has 12 inches of green slime in the bottom, torn out deck, piles of construction material and branches, a gazebo thing in disrepair. The 'outdoor kitchen' is rusted and contains cobwebs. The spare propane tank was left IN THE HOUSE! There is no railing on the deck stairs, plus some wood is rotted. The chairs in the yard are falling apart. There were clothes in the master closet. The pantry was full of food plus some in the refrigerator. The fridge ice/water filter needed to be replaced so that was not useable. Also, the broiler on the oven doesn't work and the toaster oven has broken controls. The description listed smart tv, games but that was not the case. I received 2 different codes for the entry gate and the one for the house was wrong so I had to call the owner to gain access.
Overall the house is poorly maintained.
This grill is so rusted and dirty it is not useable.
These clothes were in the master closet when we got there.
The pantry is so full of food I could not put my things in.

I always look for the positives

Overall the house was very spacious and close to all the attractions that we were there for. But the negatives were, the housekeeping crew did not do a very good job of cleaning. There was an abundance of dead roaches along the walls throughout the house, not to mention all of the live ones that e had to deal with in the kitchen. I was not aware or informed that the back deck was in such a poor state of decay and rot. One half had been repaired but the other side was down right dangerous. I just would have appreciated a heads up about it. The deck was not a deal brea Though, but the roaches almost was. If those minor issues were dealt with, I would definitely rent this house out again. We had more than enough sleeping space for everyone! 8 adults, 4 kids

Family weekend

The house was in a beautiful neighborhood. However, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the house and the old unsafe deck on the back of the house. The house had a stale odor and dirty carpet throughout. There were small rugs placed randomly on the carpet throughout the house. I’m guessing to cover stains. We were too afraid to lift them up. The two bath towels that I selected in the bathroom had small balls of hair on them. The kitchen counters were sticky, there were greasy fingerprints and smudges on the microwave and wine refrigerator. At some point this was a nice home, but it was not cleaned well and needed repairs. When I pointed out some of my concerns, the response was I will let my house keepers and maintenance person know about it. This did not reassure me that things would be taken care of anytime soon.

Great Stay

We had a great time and enjoyed the home. The house is spacious and enough room for our group. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated having TVs in the bedrooms. We will definitely look for this property again if we’re in the area!

"The Retreat" in San Antonio, Texas

Our family stayed at "The Retreat" during the San Antonio leg of our Texas vacation. The house was perfectly located just a short drive to Sea World which was the main attraction for us. The house met all our needs 9 of us, and working with the owner was an absolute pleasure. When we emailed him a question, we had a response back in 30 minutes or less, he was very responsive. The pictures on the Vrbo website are exactly what you can expect when you arrive. We would definitely rent this house again, no regrets or issues during our stay.

Complete nightmare- BUGS, DIRT, BLOOD, MOLD, STAINS, DANGEROUS DECK

This was the absolute worst vacation rental I have ever stayed in. The carpet was disgusting, covered in dirt, stains, dog urine, and bugs. There were bugs everywhere. The WiFi did not work which meant none of the TVs worked because the cable and streaming services all ran on the WiFi. We could not use any of our devices. The back deck is extremely dangerous with nails sticking up and lose boards. It’s a drop several feet down if one of the boards were to break and one of us almost fell through. It was terrifying. There were caterpillars inside the house on the carpet. The host told me I would receive a full refund and that he would be firing his maintenance crew, which he then still charged me several hundred dollars. The Coi fish pond was full of algae and stagnant, with no sign of any live fish. All of the plants and flowers in the listing were dead. The gate code on the listing was incorrect causing a huge inconvenience. There was candy stuck in the carpet. There was a pillow with blood stains. The blankets were not soft at all and they smelled dirty. One of the bathroom floors were covered in dark mold around the toilet and bathtub. There were spots across the house that appeared to be dog urine. There were red stains on the carpet. I wish I could attach pictures to this review. I have pictures as proof, including the screenshot proof of the host lying to me regarding the full refund.

Horrible mosquitoes bring off ! & Be prepared for cleaning Fees .

The patio is beautiful which is the only reason i book .. EXCEPT IT SMELLS AWFUL .. lingers to the seating area by the entry door to the patio… so awful to the point one of my family members were sick to their stomach and had to go inside due to the coy pond , the water is green and .. fish are in there .. which is awful treatment .. After sitting on the patio for about 5 minutes all the way up my leg/thigh and bottom had mosquito bites .. my whole family’s skin just had bites everywhere we eventually had to go get off from Walmart and also fluid for the torches to keep them away but they were still there .. The patio has loose boards that sink in when you walk which is very dangerous and a major hazards towards the guest , I highly WOULDN'T recommend the patio during summer unless you want to scratch yourself every second .. it’s not pleasant at all .. The patio had beer tops left over from the previous guest .. the bathroom had about 5 used razors which i left on the counter for the owner to see being that’s disgusting and unsanitary .. My body is still very stiff from the mattresses.. being the cost of the rental nightly .. sleeping quality should be of importance to the owner … The trash was left over from previous guest missing trash day which caused us to have no where to dispose of our trash which was an inconvenience being the owner has no trash can in the home so we had to make trash cans by hanging trashbags on the door … only a small trash can in the home .. House also has a plumbing issue we had to manually fix the toilet because it kept rising up after using the bathroom ..The grass was extremely high being the cost of the rental the owner should’ve came before he had guest .. he asked to come the day we were there which was very unprofessional this Vrbo rental was booked way in advance and he knew we were coming …We were also charged for a glass of wine supposedly leftover .. but we cleaned the whole house … seems as if the owner was just looking to get extra money …. Just advice everything isn’t what it seems when looking at pictures .. you will wake up with body aches daily due to the mattress and the mosquitos are literally horrible .. If you can explore other options I advice you to do so.

Nice home in a nice neighborhood

The house was very nice, clean and comfortable. The home is located within a gated community that was easily accessed through great communication with the owner. Everything was well stocked and there are two coffee makers (drip and K-cup). Over all my family and I were very happy and surprised by the over all luxury of the home. We will definitely be back when we have to return the San Antonio area.

Gorgeous home

This home was perfect for our softball team to stay at. Plenty of room for us and perfect backyard to relax before and after our games. Beds were comfortable and everything was in excellent condition. Location was not to far from the fields we were playing at.

Retreat stay

Quiet neighborhood, spacious home and backyard, very relaxing. The fire pit was a great area for us to get together to talk, reminisce, and laugh on the crisp, cool nights.

Quiet little getaway

We had a great time staying at the retreat. The house is located in a beautiful gated neighborhood that is super quiet. The house is located far enough away from the city to avoid the noise and traffic but easily accessible to all the great San Antonio attractions. Home is adequately stocked with all the things we needed and is very comfortable. Home owner was responsive to any questions that I had. Would definitely recommend to friends!

Great Family Gateway Weekend

Great neighborhood, beautiful home inside and outside. Thank you to the owner for replying to my emails. Love the location. Enough room for everyone and they even have extra mattress if needed. I will definitely stay here again when visiting San Antonio. Muy bonita casa por dentro y por fuera. El vecindario esta precioso. Gracias al dueno por contestar mis correos. La ubicacion esta perfecta muy centrada. Hay espacio para que todos durmieran agusto y hasta tienen colchones inflables por si se necesitan. Claro que me volveria a quedar en esta casa.

Overall First Time VRBO stay

My overall experience was Awesome. This location is perfect for a vacation to Sea World. Only a 15 minute drive. Spring Break was great for my family.

Nice location

Great home for easy commute to SeaWorld. Did have to wash a few dishes before use but nothing we couldn’t handle. There was a broken chair upon our arrival and I was quick to let the property owner know. He seemed unaware and appreciated letting him know. I would recommend this property. The floor plan is awesome!

Rest and Relaxation in San Antonio, Close to All San Antonio Has to Offer

My family of 5 stayed in this beautiful home for an extended period of time. We were able to unpack and unwind in comfort. The home is beautifully appointed with all the necessities. There is an outdoor fireplace, a fire pit area, and an outdoor grill. All the essentials for a relaxing night under the Texas stars. There is plenty of parking in this ultra safe gated community. It a perfect place for an afternoon stroll. My wife took an evening run most nights and felt not only safe but welcomed by all of the friendly neighbors. The house is 15 minutes from Sea World, 25 minutes from Six Flags 30 minutes from the River Walk, and 30 minutes from Lachland, making it an ideal location for vacationers or families coming for military graduations. I highly recommend this property and highly recommend this homeowner. Thank you Roberto!

I thought this was an excellent place to stay. We had plenty of room for our big family. It also has a wonderful outdoor space. And a nice neighborhood in a gated community. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the trees just need trimmed above the driveway. But overall we loved the place.

I spend the last 8 years making the Retreat a paradise to enjoy with family and friends. I come from a large family (11 siblings) and have many family members that visited me during that time. The retreat offered us the perfect gathering pace for family groups. Now I want to share my house with visitors to enjoy what The Retreat has to offer.
