Recoleta, the city's swanky neighborhood, is an easy 15 walk away along beautiful tree-lined streets and French-style buildings. Four subway lines within a three-block radius connect you to the rest of the city's popular areas: Palermo, Puerto Madero, San Telmo, and Boca.

Talcahuano is a busy commercial street known for its many musical instrument establishments and colorful, artsy, individualistic neighbors. North, it leads straight into Recoleta; go four blocks south, and you come to Avenida de Mayo—the city's most beautiful avenue, flanked at one end by the Parliament (capitol building) and the other by the Casa Rosada (the presidential mansion).
