The house is close to the Zoo and Bolba park which makes our trip very easy. Love the kitchen! We made breakfast at your house and had great family time together. Ann is great and always checking in with us. Thank you so much Ann we had a great time!

Thank you so much for being our guest. Yes! you are correct, our location is only 5 minute drive to the Zoo and Balboa Park Museums. 10 minutes to the Airport. Our Hillcrest neighborhood is full of restaurants you can walk to. Hope you had a chance to try several of them. As you mentioned, the Hillcrest Bungalow is a great place for family travel. We have many Business/Convention Center guests stay too because we are so close to downtown for their meetings and work. Please come back and stay with us again. Great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay in the Bungalow. Very clean property with two nice outdoor spaces. Ann communicated well prior to the stay. Highly recommend!

The place was perfect! Spacious, comfortable, and with everything you needed. University Hill is quiet and clean. The bungalow isnt far from anywhere we wanted to go. Mrs. Ann was professional and warm and I would definitely return!

Lovely Stay with Personal Touches

Hillcrest Bungalow is a lovely property with all the creature comforts. The owner generously provides extremely comfortable beds with soft linens, fluffy white towels, and a beautifully appointed home including the kitchen and outdoor spaces. She even had a holiday tree, decorations and a special Christmas morning drop-off so we felt festive being away from home for the holidays. Wonderful place and stellar host. Thank you!

Great location and perfect fit for us

We fully enjoyed our visit in San Diego and our host was a huge help with dinning and information on sight seeing major attractions. House was spotless, kitchen was well stocked and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Neighborhood was perfect for our Norwich puppy walks. We will be back to visit this winter from Taos New Mexico. Great Stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hillcrest Bungalow. The house is well appointed and in excellent condition. The beds are super comfy! The location is perfect. The zoo and Balboa Park are a very short drive or a long walk. Beaches, The Gaslamp, and Old Town are all short drives. There are a lot of really good restaurants within walking distance. Or, if you want to take advantage of the fantastic kitchen, there is a Sprouts and a Whole Foods close by. We would definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing stay at Hillcrest Bungalow! Ann, our host, was incredibly responsive and genuinely dedicated to ensuring we had a wonderful time in San Diego. The house was beautifully upgraded and had an impressively equipped kitchen with everything you could ever need. The attention to detail and thoughtful amenities made our stay truly enjoyable. Great spot for a weekend getaway

Fantastic, central location for San Diego. 15-20 minutes from most attractions (beach, Sea World, Zoo, etc). Several restaurants/shops within walking distance (~15 min). Dedicated tandem parking space a huge plus, as there wasn't a lot of off street parking. Appliances (Viking kitchen, very new washer/dryer, tankless water heater) all made the stay a bit easier. Would definitely recommend! Ann is a great host and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable.

Cozy Bungalow

This charming and very cozy bungalow is in a great location and has a wonderful set-up with the two spacious bedrooms and Jack and Jill bathroom. Loved the front and back patios….and the common living room, dining area and kitchen spaces were very lovely and homey. Had everything we needed. I think the bed/bedding were more comfy than my own! Slept like a baby! It was perfect for the three of us. Ann was a gem to work with. Very communicative, personable and helpful. Wasn’t really a fan of having to pick up the keys in a different location for check-in but check-out was seamless and all the positives of the house/stay certainly outweigh that one hiccup. Would definitely go back! Absolutely loved our trip and stay! :)

Perfect location

The Hillcrest house was ideally located to connect to all of your San Diego experiences in the central part of the city. Great restaurants around there, access to a lot of new things happening including bars and restaurants.The beds are really comfortable and Ann is a wonderful host. There are a few things that could be changed: lockbox did not work according to the code so we were struggling with the late-night check in. Also it's hard to get a hold of the owner after 10 PM. So that needs to be addressed; however it's a wonderful place comfortable for two people or four. I would definitely go back. Thank you so much.

Thank you Paul for taking the time to post a review. You are echoing many of our guests comments, that our location is the key to "All things San Diego" I'm sorry you had trouble with the lock box. No other guest has mentioned it being difficult to open, but I will definitely have a look at it. I do live down the street, and am available 24/7 to assist guests with anything, at anytime. With that said, when a call at night for help is necessary, I would encourage a guest to, keep calling until you wake me up! I don't mind at all, but need a little extra assistance at that time of night :)

Awesome location/off street parking

We loved the house, the bed was so very comfortable and the location was truly close to everything we went to. With that said, we also found the floors to be dirty, and lots of spiderwebs outside as well as ants in the kitchen. The house needs a deep clean which I’m sure Ann will do, and is a great setup for a small family or a couple to get away. Spacious and nicely set up and includes a washer and dryer and beach towels and everything a kitchen should have if you want to cook! We had a wonderful time in San Diego Ann, thanks for having us! Best Staycation Location for Our Family!

Had a great time with my small family here for Thanksgiving! Amazing kitchen, comfortable beds, and a sweet tv area perfect for catching up. Even my mom’s Westie was right at home, and he’s only slept at two houses total before this. :) Would definitely recommend for some cozy family time together,

Fabulous location, amazing bungalow!

The Hillcrest bungalow was the perfect spot for our family vacation to San Diego!! The location was ideal, close to everything we wanted to visit! The beds were as comfortable as my bed at home! (amazing sheets). Anne thought of everything for this home, from the gourmet kitchen to the cozy blankets! The house was even decorated for Christmas which added such a nice touch! Custom service was outstanding with an in person delivery of paper goods when we ran out!! I highly recommend this property!!

Very nice property convenient to many activities

My family and I stayed at the Hillcrest Bungalow for 6 nights. Its a wonderfully decorated 2 bedroom bungalow, and very consistent with the description. It is in a quiet neighborhood that seemed convenient to many of the sights one would want to see in San Diego-- Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, old town San Diego, the Seaport Village and Mission Beach, among other things. It has a great kitchen, very up-to-date and a driveway so no worries as to parking. Because of its close proximity to downtown and to shopping and restaurants it could serve as a base to see many things in the San Diego area. The owner was also very responsive and answered all my questions about the area and the property. Instructions as to check in and check out were clear. I would definitely consider staying here again. There is a warning about neighbors being sensitive to noise so if you are likely to have a big crowd that might be something to consider. For us, it was not a problem and it was nice that the neighborhood was peaceful. Having not booked through VBRO regularly, I was not focused on the service fee for booking through the listings on the website. It seems a bit hefty to me, but I understand it also acts as some protection to the consumer. But it is something to keep in mind if you are on a budget. Also, this particular property, unlike some others I looked at on the website, has a no-refund policy, so if you think you're plans could change or if you do not want to pay the entire fee well in advance with no cancellation available, this aspect of this property would be something to pay attention to. Again, a terrific stay and very clean and beautiful place.

The Bungalows city center location in the neighborhood of the iconic Balboa Park, and Zoo is definately a bonus. I just completely renovated that property to be my someday "forever home", but in the meantime i'm so glad that our many guests have enjoyed cooking family meals in it's Chefs Kitchen. Best home away from home ever!!

I don't have enough great things to say, not only about this fabulous find, but Ann, the amazing owner of this property, as well as Hillcrest House Bed and Breakfast! We stayed our first night at the B n B, which we thoroughly enjoyed. During our brief stay there, Ann took the time to share with us great places to go from dining to sipping to sighseeing! She is a wealth of information and the best hostess ever! ( Her breakfast at the B n B is a delight as well!) This house is better equipped then any I have ever seen! Plus it is immaculate and extremely comfortable! Very central to everything as well. Don't miss out on staying here if you have the opportunity! Fabulous Find!!!

This house is located in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to restaurants, bus stop, and supermarkets. The house is well kept, well stocked, clean, and comfortable. Ann, the owner, could not have been more helpful with suggestions, directions, and transportation. I would rent this house again in a heart beat and will certainly recommend it to any friends or family members coming to San Diego!!

Family Holiday Celebration

The house was perfect for our family combined Thanksgiving/Christmas celebration. Ann had decorated the house for Christmas and it put us all in the spirit of the season, in spite of the warm weather and sunny days. The kitchen is fully equipped and delightful to work in. Ann has thought of everything to make this bungalow a perfect second home. It's very clean, in a quiet neighborhood, and close to everything that matters to us. We were so delighted with our stay, we've already booked another visit!

Best Bungalow!

This bungalow blew my mind! The whole place was so amazing! The beds were great! It was hard to get out of bed each day because they were so comfortable! I love to cook and this kitchen is my DREAM kitchen. I am so lucky to have been able to find this place. Ann is the most hospitable person I have ever met. She makes sure that your stay is wonderful and if you have any questions you can contact her and she will respond very quickly. The neighborhood is pretty quiet. I cannot wait to stay here again!
