Get away from it all... escape to Bikini Bottom, our playground by the sea. Accessible only by 4WD, Bikini Bottom is located 9 miles up the beach from the end of Highway 12 and is well appointed to ensure your perfect vacation.

After leaving Highway 12, you will immediately feel your stress slip away as you drive along the beach and experience the serene beauty of the Northern Beaches. Along the way, you'll see natural dune lines decorated with sea oats bending in the offshore breezes.

Once you settle in to our beautiful Bikini Bottom, take a stroll along the gorgeous beach to unwind and collect shells left by the changing tides, watch the dolphins play and the pelicans glide, and if you are lucky get a peek at the wild horses and their families grazing in the dunes or playing along the shore. Return to take advantage of our many ocean facing decks or relax in the second floor hammock to listen to the rhythm of the waves crashing against the sand!

Your days at Bikini Bottom can be spent relaxing at the beach or pool, crabbing or surf fishing, walking for endless miles along the shore, or kayaking in the sound. You can also explore all that the Outer Banks has to offer. Shop at the many unique shopping areas in Corolla and Duck, climb the Corolla Lighthouse, or take a tour of the Historic Corolla Village. Many fine restaurants can also be found in these areas, or pick up some fresh fish and steaks and head back to Bikini Bottom to create your own masterpiece! Our grilling gazebo is a relaxing spot to hang out and enjoy a cold beverage while preparing your dinner by the sea.

The well appointed kitchen is a perfect compliment to the grilling gazebo. Enjoy meals in the dining room, at the bar, or enjoy the evening breeze on the screened porch! The master bedroom is also on the top floor, with a large tiled bathroom and private deck. Additionally, from the top floor you can sneak up even farther to the cozy Ship's Watch to relax, read, or take an afternoon nap! The second floor has another master bedroom with a private bathroom. Also located on the second floor are two additional bedrooms which share a full bathroom. All bedrooms have sliding glass doors which open to large decks. The ground floor has a queen sleep sofa, half bath, kitchenette (with refrigerator, microwave, sink and storage cabinets), television and dvd player. Outside, enjoy the large private swimming pool and hot tub. Also, enjoy our two person kayak to explore the canals and even out to the bay. Launch from the public boat launch just a couple of blocks away!

Enjoy all the amenities that we have provided to help make your vacation a spectacular one, but most of all relax and enjoy the unique beauty of Carova and all it has to offer....we know you'll be back! Note you must be 25 years of age to rent this property and signee must be vacationing on property... no friend groups sorry. Our house really is designed for a family vacation.

Well maintained and clean. A relaxing getaway.

We just returned from our second stay at this beautiful home, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The house is very well maintained, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway.During our stay, there was an unexpected issue with the air conditioning, but the owner was incredibly responsive and worked quickly to resolve it while we were still there. They kept in communication with us throughout the process and even provided compensation for the inconvenience, which we really appreciated.It’s clear the owner takes great pride in the property and genuinely cares about the comfort of their guests. We had a great experience both times we’ve stayed.

Amazing

Everything the owners stated was 100% accurate. We were 8 adults and 2 children and everyone had a fantastic and relaxing time. Any issues where immediately rectified and there were very few. We absolutely loved it.

Love this house

This is such a beautiful house. This is our second time staying here and it was great. Great pool hot tub access to the beach. Everything is as described. Kitchen has everything you need. Pool toys chairs and do much more. Will definitely stay here again. Michelle is a wonderful owner and so responsive. We had a blast.

Amazing!!!!!!

It was everything we hoped and more. Weather was beautiful, wild horses were stunning and we spotted them daily. The ocean and the beach were pristine. House had ample space, we enjoyed both the pool and the hot tub. The decks provided amazing views. And we made memories to last a lifetime. We definitely recommend!

Location, location, location

The property itself definitely needs some updates on the outside but inside was cozy. We seen horses daily. It takes no time to drive to the beach. We loved the deck coming off the living room where you have a beautiful view of everything.

Beautiful house, great location, amazing communication

We had the best time! We had an issue with water that was out of the control of the owner, but she was very quick to respond and had the issue handled and fixed extremely quickly! We were very impressed on how quickly the issue was resolved! We had a mix of kids with us ages 2, 6, 7, 8, and 10 and they all had fun. We would definitely love to stay again some time in the future.

OBX stay

The house was nice and just a block from the beach. The description was very accurate. First time staying up that far north. Only thing I did t like was traveling up and down beach to get to any stores or ice. Because the fire station ice machine was broke. The whole week we were there.

Amazing House with an Excellent Host!!

We’re a family of 5 and we stayed at Bikini Bottom for a week. Michelle was an exceptional hostess and was so prompt in answering all our questions. The house is stunning, clean, modern, and steps from beautiful Carova Beach. The pool and hot tub are 10/10! Can’t say enough great things about our experience here, we loved it so much we’re booking again for next year! The house has everything you will need, including a fully stocked kitchen, beach gear, and lots of space to spread out while relaxing at the house. Our favorites this week included sunrises on the beach (a must!!!), the wild horses everywhere (we saw them every day!!!), the pool and hot tub area and boating and jet skiing in town. Make sure you have a 4x4 as it’s several miles to reach the house. My husband really enjoyed driving on the beach, seeing the wild horses made it a fun adventure. Overall an excellent rental, highly recommend if you want something a little more quiet and secluded!!!

Vacation

We stayed at Bikini Bottom with our entire family of 10. The house was very spacious and provided lots of outdoor space as well! The house was very clean and the kitchen was stocked very well! We were apprehensive about the 9 mile drive in the sand but it turned out to be very manageable! Michelle was probably the most responsive host we’ve ever had! She responded to questions any time we asked! She went above and beyond to help with recommendations! We Would highly recommend this house for any family looking for complete relaxation!

4x4 Adventure

We had a wonderful week at Bikini Bottom. The location was great, once we realized we had booked a 4x4 beach house. SURPRISE! That mistake was 100% my fault and I’m so glad I made that “mistake”. It was an adventure and we would do it again. The pool was a wonderful amenity, as was the screened porch. The owners were in communication with us the entire week but not in an intrusive way. Have your cameras ready to take pictures of the wild horses.

Bikini Bottom is a MUST stay!

If you want the full 4x4 section of OBX experience this is the house to stay at! An easy 5 minute walk to the beach! You can also sit on any deck and hear the birds and the ocean. Be sure to catch the sunrise from the top deck, it's beautiful!! You can also see the wild horses often, they even came for a visit onto the property. The only issue we had was the air mattress would not stay blown up (we did try to patch it) and 2 of the beds seem to be broken (we tried our best to fix them). We had 12 people and this was the perfect house for us!! The pool and hot tub were amazing!!! We will totally keep this house in mind for our next OBX trip! 💜

It was great while it lasted! But two nights was not long enough!

We arrived on Sunday afternoon and on Monday we were told we HAD to evacuate Tuesday due to hurricane Forence. We were so disappointed because we were loving it there but knew it could turn into a dangerous situation so we packed up and left. The house was great. The location was great. Seeing the Mustangs was great! We will definitely return! I have never been so disappointed to end a vacation with my family, especially after spending only one full day there. My grandkids loved the beach and it was the first time they were at the ocean. Hopefully the house weathered the storm because we would love to go back!!

Had a great and wonderful time!

Pros: Quick drive to the beach. Secluded away from other houses. Beach was never too crowded. Plenty of bathrooms. Had extra beach chairs and boogie boards. Hot tub and pool were very nice. Cons: Internet didn't work the first day and a half. Cell service is very limited. The beds were not made, we had to make them ourselves. Couldn't find bedding for the pull out couch. Would've liked more games (pool table, foosball, etc). Not enough refrigerator space.

2023 family vacation

What a lovely, family-friendly home. You can tell there have been some great memories made here. There's something for everyone to do. We drove down to the beach once daily to bring the beach chairs and set up a tent, but it's definitely not a long walk. My father-in-law is not a huge fan of the beach but he was fishing, grilling, and the pool. He would have kayaked but he recently had knee surgery. We saw wild horses pretty much every day. We went to the fire station to get ice (life-saver!!) and we drove up to where you can find the best seashells....thank you for all the suggestions!

Bucket list

This was a bucket list vacation for us to stay in the OBX and see the wild horses roaming the beach. We had a great time exploring everything Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head had to offer. We watched the most beautiful sunrises in the mornings with the wild horses right there with us. We dug for sand fleas to use as bait for fishing (we didn't catch anything, but the kids had fun). We saw crabs and dolphins and we even saw a guy catch a stingray. We toured the lighthouse, rented a boat and explored the sound in Duck, ate at some great restaurants and hangout at the beach and pool. The house is located in a great spot that's far enough away from the busier part of the beach. As reference, we walked to Virginia beach that was approximately 2 miles. This property has everything you would need to have a great vacation. Sun, beach, pool, and wild horses what more do you need?! We will definitely be back. Thank you for letting us stay at your house.

Disappointed

There’s a lot with the cleaning service that is lacking. We also only got one parking pass and after contacting the owners no solution to a second pass was relayed. There were items that didn’t work or were broken. There were just several items that stacked up for us that made for a disappointing trip.

Paradise

This was our second stay in this home. It’s such a wonderful place to stay. Everything was perfect! This house had everything that you could possibly need to ensure a pleasant stay. The kitchen is well equipped with pots/ pans/ silverware, and everything needed to prepare meals. They provide nice chairs on each deck, It’s so relaxing to sit on them especially in the evenings listening to the ocean waves. The beach is a short walk away, we really enjoyed walking to it several times a day. If you just want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of a busy life and be at a place that you can get some real rest and relaxation this is it! The horses came through the yard everyday, it was so interesting to watch them. Michelle is very quick to respond to any questions that you may have. We had a small issue one day and she was very quick to respond back ensuring that everything was all right. We had a variety of age groups, it was perfect for all of us! Don’t hesitate to stay here, you won’t regret it!

Stunning Property!

This house was absolutely perfect for our family of 10 and left us wanting for nothing. From the short walk to the gorgeous beach, multiple decks from which to enjoy the view (including sunrises!), including a lovely screened-in porch with cozy seating, comfortable beds in the spacious bedrooms, wonderful pool and hot tub and well-stocked kitchen, we wanted for nothing during our stay. We found every kind of cookware and pans that we could have needed which is a big deal for a family that likes to cook like we do. We saw the horses daily on the beach, the walk to the beach and hanging out near the house. Michelle was readily available and responsive and a terrific host. A few insights to share - one, while we we were able to navigate the dune in our Subarus (Ascent and Outback), if you have the option to get there in a vehicle with higher clearance I would definitely suggest going that route. We were fortunate not to get stuck (experience driving in unplowed snow helped!) but all of the vehicles we did see requiring a tow were similar to ours. Two, the dune drive makes getting to and from town a bit of an undertaking so stock up on all of your groceries on the way if you can (truthfully, we didn't want to leave anyways!). Also, be forewarned that the traffic can be no joke. Three, make sure you plan to get up early at least a couple of mornings to watch the sunrise - it is WELL worth it! Finally, do not hesitate to book this property - you will not regret it!

Cute Place

We picked the last week of March going into April because was the week our daughter had Spring Break in high school. It was too cold to be on the beach that week even though it is normly low 70's according to what I read ahead of time, it was more like low 50's. No one's fault but Mother Nature. The pictures of the outside of the house looked better than what it actually was. It was somewhat run down in the outside. The inside pics were actually worse than what it was. It was lovely inside and it was stocked with everything that one would need to make good meals. We brought kitchen stuff down that was never used because they had everything! The porches were nice and perfect for a sunrise if bundled up! We loved the hot tub especially because we did not have the ocean because of the cold. We had to rent a Jeep and so glad we did. You definitely need 4 wheel drive to drive down the beach. Fun in itself! Not a lot opened or to do at this time of year which was fine because we just wanted to be away from everything.

Perfect House....Perfect Week

Our family has been going to the coast every year for as long as I can remember and we've always rented houses to stay in so we've had plenty of experiences to compare to. That being said, this is one of my favorite house and favorite beach to date. The description in the listing was very accurate. The owners were excellent to work with and answered questions promptly and accurately. The house was clean and very well laid out with great spaces inside and out for coming together as a group but also has plenty of room to get off by yourself when you need some downtime. The kitchen had everything we needed from cookware to dishes to small appliances. The house does have well water which has naturally high sulfur content but the filtration system for drinking water in the kitchen worked great so the water wasn't an issue. Bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. On the outside the pool, hot tub, and grilling area were just added bonuses. We saw wild horses from the deck everyday we were there and had deer in the yard on several occasions. Beach access by vehicle or foot was a piece of cake. I wish I could think of one thing to mention for improvement just to give the review more objectivity but there's not one thing I would change about the house or the location. We'll definitely rent this house again, hopefully as soon as this Fall.

Ah-Mazing

If you want to get away from it all, this is the house for you. Nine miles down a four-wheel-drive-only beach, which is seriously daunting the first few times. Don't worry, though. By the end of your stay, you'll be a pro. A couple days before checkin, I got a text from the owner, welcoming us, if you need anything, etc. It was a big relief having direct communication with her, and she was very prompt in her responses. We had two adults, four teens, and a tween staying in this house, and we were very comfortable, didn't feel at all like we were on top of each other all the time. This is the first time in my many years of renting vacation homes that I actually felt like I was living in a home. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Foil, cooking spray, sandwich bags, flashlights, food storage containers, and more. There were tons of books, board games, and coloring books with crayons. Lots of beach chairs, sand toys, and pool toys. We did try out the kayak with success! The only thing I would have liked better would be restaurants nearby. This is only a personal thing, I realize, but I really don't like to cook on vacation. There are restaurants in Corolla, but they are a half hour one way away, down the nine miles of bumpy beach. Luckily, there is also a great grocery store in Corolla. In all, this house was amazing!! We loved it so much and really didn't want to leave.

Shelton and I met at Virginia Tech and have recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! We have spent our entire married lives in Virginia Beach and have two great kids, Morgan and Trey. We all love the beach and we as parents love every opportunity to get away from it all with our kids and our close friends and family. Bikini Bottom is the perfect getaway!

In 2011, our son was lucky enough to visit the 4x4 beaches with a classmate. He came home insisting that we all go down and take a look. We have vacationed in the Outer Banks many times, but this was our first experience with the 4x4 area. Immediately after turning off of Highway 12, I fell in love. The wide open beach and the salt air took all our stress away and we immediately began searching for the perfect house for our family to get away from the hustle and bustle of Virginia Beach, but still enjoy the things we love...walking on the beach, collecting shells, paddleboarding and fishing. We are looking forward to opening our beach house to other families to enjoy the uniqueness of the Northern Beaches and creating a lifetime of memories.
