Exciting new upgrades for the 2025 season. Experience the luxury of a brand-new dock and bulkhead, perfect for enhancing your outdoor living. Step inside to discover stunning new interior carpeting and upholstery that elevate the ambiance of every room. Head in the direction of the spectacular Compass Rose. This uniquely designed home calls the Brigands Bay waterfront home. Compass Rose has every amenity. The ground level has good parking, an outdoor shower, a renter's storage cage, a basketball hoop, and a large boat dock. The all-weather entry leads to a recreation room with a pool table and a TV or to the lower vestibule with a half bath. The first level has three waterfront bedrooms with decks and two baths. The first bedroom has a private bath. The second-level great room has tall ceilings, expansive sun decks, and bragging rights to the island's best views. A comfortable glass-walled living area catches all east-facing and water views. The dining area with an adjacent hot tub room follows the sun from rising to set. The excellent kitchen with a breakfast bar is great for everything from crepes to crabs. A large third-level bedroom, with a private bath and a TV and DVD player, has world-class views. Explore the beautiful canals and sound of Brigands Bay with the two provided kayaks. If you're lost in a sea of vacation selections, try the Compass Rose!

Things to know:
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.


Please note: Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on the weather.

Great Home would rent again. Love the location.

Home was exactly as listed. Trees need to be trimmed over driveway. Would definitely stay here again.

1st time ever in NC outer banks, it was nice.

The area was nice and relaxing. Fishing was a bust. The home is beautiful just needs a bit more TLC .

Would stay here again

Fishing off the dock was our favorite thing to do on this trip. The dock is spacious. Caught a 28" speckled trout there. Enjoyed taking the kayaks out as well. The house could use some updates but, the price is great for value. We were comfortable.

Fantastic views

Nice house , plenty room great for family. Kids would love it. Great to have your own dock for kayak & small boat. Great for cast netting your own bait. The stairs will give you workout but that's ok. All and all nice house great location quit and private.

Vacation

Besides not having enough sheets until Thursday afternoon when they magically appeared on the deck and baby gates not working and several doors that were broken it was beautiful! It felt like home and the view was perfect. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone who wants to enjoy the outer banks. Am planning on staying again next year. Thanks

House review

The location was wonderful. The mattresses need to be updated. First level bedrooms air conditioning wasn’t the best and we tried to use ceiling fans but they would make clicking sounds. The canal was great for outdoor water activities.

Relaxing

We loved staying in this home for a week! Very relaxing and beautiful on the water! Very minor maintenance things and they did call us two times stating we were getting a new microwave and felt done in the pool table and both times nobody showed up (not a big deal as it wasnt anything urgent) other then that, we plan to go back to this house every year!

We have a very relaxing week, thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities, jacuzzi, kayak, pool table, kitchen with a beautiful view of the ocean, bed is comfortable, bathrooms are clean. Spent a lot of times on the deck for the beautiful sunrise and dock. The area is peaceful, we walked and feel safe. Visited close by churches too. I emailed minor things and they responded/showed up the same day. We will definitely be back to stay.

Very nice home however could of used a little TLC. The kitchen cabinets were full of items that didn't leave any space for our purchased groceries. The toilets were a little challenging initially but we figured them out. The home was a little hard to find as the name and number of the rental was really hard to see from the road. Otherwise, very pleased!

Arrived to a dirty home, no internet our entire trip!

First impression was not good. House was very dirty upon arrival, spent day of arrival shopping for cleaning supplies and then cleaning. Home definitely needs some maintenance done, many things broken or not in working order. No internet our entire time there, with three teenagers that was not good!!! On a positive note it was a beautiful location right on the sound, water was very warm!

Great house

Well appointed. Very spacious. Very clean. Be prepared to climb stairs. I knew what I was booking and the stairs were part of it. Just wanted to alert people that might have elderly, handicapped or bad knees. However, for everyone else the house was very welcoming. Located in a quiet neighborhood on the canals. Plenty of space for everyone. The A/C was fantastic on all floors. The rooms were a great size. The owner should really include a photo of all the kitchen utensils they provide. I brought stuff from home because you never know what to expect when renting a vacation house but I never used my own items. They did a great job of stocking the kitchen so you could really cook. Fantastic experience. Would rent again. 😊

A vacation house

Compass Rose was a spacious vacation home, on the sound. The neighborhood was quiet except for the work men. The beds were comfy. The management company only supplies one smallish towel per person, which is not sufficient. Pillow cases and sheets were also limited. No sheets for the sofa bed. Pillow shams are not sent to be cleaned so if they are used as pillow cases , not really covid safe. The home had some security issues which were promptly fixed: railings were loose and broken on widows deck. Air conditioning filters were filthy. Outdoor Door handles are worn and loose. The cooking pots need updating… very used. This house does not have an elevator so its a long hike up to the top floor master bedroom! Overall it was spacious and comfy and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Views with much needed interior updates

Due to a storm we had to move houses. This was not the house that we had originally picked but Hatteras Realty did a great job finding us a new location that was not flooded due to the storm. They did the best they could to be accommodating. The house Compass Rose is ok. The view of the sound channels and the 360 Panoramic view from the top deck is stunning. The house left much to be desired. The house was not properly cleaned, the beds were not made so I had to make the beds. Not a big issue but when going into the master bathroom the toilet had not been flushed (you can imagine what was in there). This signified that the bathrooms had not been cleaned either. There was some TP and paper towels and they had put clean towels in the bedrooms but thats about it. The house has a lot of potential but not well taken care of and needs some serious upgrades. Also if you are a light sleeper note that the bedrooms are on the second floor with the kitchen and livingroom on the 3rd so it can be noisy.

Nice house uncomfortable furniture

First time staying canal front and wasn’t too bad, no snakes or buggy. The dock and cleaning station were nice. Driveway is narrow for pickups, it would be doubtful if a DRW truck would fit. There beer bottles left in the pool table room and smelled of cigarettes, there was also trash left in the sink of the cleaning station and a pile of charcoal left in the grill. Only slept in the top floor bedroom and it was really uncomfortable, my back hurt all week from the mattress, the couches in the living were as well, made from dimensional lumber. Kitchen was less than expected, no rhyme or reason on where anything was and there was pot that was cracked in a couple places. The staff from Vacasa were easy to get a hold of and they offered to come clean the pool table room, grill, and cleaning station but I declined because I was on vacation and didn’t feel like having someone come over. The A/C and fans worked great and that was really the only high point of the house. Upgrade the mattresses, furniture, and kitchen pots and pans and this place would be an easy 4-5/5 rating. Would not recommend.

The worst stay in a Hatteras Hime ever this vacation

I found roaches all over the house. I walked away from my coffee for just a few minutes to come back and see a small roach sharing my morning coffee. I taken pictures and sent them to Hatteras Realty. I called the Saturday we got there and a kind lady Sheena said she would call and possibly get us moved to another place. She called a hour later to say the manager said there was nothing they could do. My daughter, my grandson and husband has little bites all over them. Called the manager (which made me feel like a I was wrong for calling and complaining) the next day after getting here and he said it was a holiday and that there was nothing he could do but put a ticket in to have only the cleaning fee removed because I had to clean the bathrooms. Windows are code with not having screens and he would I am guessing put a ticket in for the roaches for the next guests. It’s check out day and nothing was resolved or compensated for our vacation that turned into controlling roaches and scrubbing down the house and eating out most of the time just because. The bathroom with shower had dirt and public hair on the shower, someone’s Dry URINE (body fluids) from I am guessing the last guests on the back of the toilet. (I had to clean it up) because they sent no one out to clean it for us, The pantry door was completely off leaning into the pantry for 6 days before someone came out to ONLY fix the door and change the filters for the next guests. The enclosed room with glass windows and walls had windows with no screens for having little ones and windows that when you opened they did not stay and one that did stay open, with no screens that children will try to put their arms out of slams down without warning which to me is a big hazard and can do harm to anyone choosing to look out it or having the arms hanging out beings no screens are in them for small ones to do so. It gets so hot in the room with no way to get fresh air in there but to take chairs to prop open the outside door. I know there is more to this list but I am tired of writing and I am just disappointed and may go through another Realtor next time. We wanted to rebook with them and now it doesn’t look that way….

We are so sorry you were unhappy, Catherine. It sounds as though your experience did not meet anybody's expectations. We did offer to send housekeeping out after refunding your cleaning fee and were disappointed you did not accept our offer. Pest control did respond and treat the rental, and maintenance was happy to fix the pantry door for you. The homeowner has contracted someone to fix the windows. Thank you for giving us the chance to host you, and we hope to be able to impress you next time.
