Sea view Holiday Home with pool - Halcyon Heights Private Residence

The “vista mare” (sea view) apartment is located in Dickenson Bay - 10 minutes walk to the beach - in a private residence complex with a lovely (recently renovated) pool, a beautiful garden and security.

Overlooking the bay and the sea, it has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a nice big veranda where to enjoy breakfast and sunsets. Both the bedrooms have AC and internet is fast and reliable. There are at least 3 restaurants at walking distance, plus a small grocery shop. The big supermarket is only few minutes drive away.

The owner leaves on the island and is always available to welcome you and to assist to rent a car, book tours and restaurants and give you any kind of suggestions about the beautiful island of Antigua. Languages spoken: english, italian, french, spanish.

Perfect Antigua base

This property was perfect for the three of us for eight nights. Nice outside area, great pool, quiet and close to Dickenson beach. We rented a car at the airport and drove all over the island with no issues. I would recommend Vista Mare in Halcyon Heights 100%. Thanks Simonetta

What a view!

The view is spectacular, the sunsets are amazing. It's a short walk to the beach and all the action. The host is awesome.

Breathtaking ocean views!

Host is lovely, helpful and easy to get hold of. Location is fabulous for views across the sea from the veranda. Restaurant behind the apartment is a hive of activity. We self catered which worked out great. As much of the supermarket food is imported we brought quite a lot with us to keep costs down. Island is beautiful with very friendly helpful.licals. Views from Pearns Point ate amazing! Had a wonderful dtay!!!!

Excellent view - cute condo

Amazing views from sunrise to sunset. Cute condo (bigger than I expected). Simonetta was lovely and ensured my stay was enjoyable. She is very helpful! I will stay again in the future.

Fantastic location

My family and I had a amazing stay at this condo. The space felt like home and the host was very accommodating. From the beginning of out trip she was in contact and offered transportation from the airport. Entering the condo was flawless. The location was perfect and close to beaches, restaurants and downtown. We had a very good experience despite the fact that we were there for a funeral. I definitely recommend this condo and location for any future stays. Entering the condo was flawless

A great place for vacations

The host provided a trusted taxi at the airport, met us, and explained the property features. There are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious kitchen, living room, and a great terrace with amazing sunsets. There are a coffee machine, toster, utensils, and everything you need at the kitchen. The beach is 10 mins walking down the hill. There are at least 2 great places to eat: pizza and more at Bella Vita and variety of food at Bay House (just behind the apartment). You can rent a car to drive around at Down West car rental (make sure you are a relly good driver). Beaches are amazing on the island, but prices look too high. I'm glad we stopped at this place. It must be one of the best options for price/quality criteria. Thanks the host for provided accomodation and I can recommend it for everyone!

We arrived late in the day just moments before the sunset. Simonetta met us in the parking lot & swiftly brought us around to the westerly side of the villa to see the sun setting on the ocean! She kindly assisted us in booking Eli’s Eco Tour and responded same day with any questions we had. The property was clean, had all the essentials to prepare meals, 2 spacious bedrooms & bathrooms and a large outdoor covered patio with a million dollar view of the ocean! The property is a short 15min walk down a hill to the gorgeous Dickinson Bay beach where there are beach front pubs, local kiosks with handmade crafts & an abundance of beach chairs/umbrellas for rent. Location was perfect being located 20mins drive to/from the Airport & approx 10mins to a large supercentre grocery store. It was so peaceful in the morning and felt like home coming back to everyday! Everything was superfantabulous and we are grateful to have found an extremely comfortable home away from home with an incredible hostess in Simonetta!

Overall, the location of the apartment is excellent, and the pool area is both beautiful and well-maintained. However, I encountered several issues during my stay that warrant attention. Firstly, the cleanliness of the apartment did not meet expectations, particularly in areas such as the worktops, behind the hob, and the floors Additionally, there was a significant problem with the refrigerator, which failed to maintain a consistent temperature, resulting in spoiled food. Although I communicated this issue to the hostIt was not addressed until four days before my departure, when the fridge was finally replaced. We provided a list of the spoiled food. These were not replaced.I recommend that guests bring their own towels, as the provided towels are mismatched and of subpar absorbency. Furthermore, the apartment would greatly benefit from the installation of air conditioning in the main living space and kitchen, as the current lighting is inadequate. Although floor lamps are available, they do not significantly enhance illumination and contribute additional heat in a hot environmentThe smaller bedroom lacks natural daylight, and there is noticeable noise from restaurant staff and furniture movement particularly between 6:30am a 11:00pm. Additionally, the bathroom features cracked tiles on the splashback, and some fixtures are loose, which require maintenance; outside furniture including soft furnishings. The Vista Mare listing lacks accuracy.

Dear Marcia, thank you for your detailed feedback about your stay. “Vista mare” apartment has never received a bad review about the level of cleanliness, but I will for sure take note of your comment and try to improve the cleaning standards. Regarding the fridge: it was replaced with a brand new one 3 hours after your initial complaint. The listing description of the apartment is very specific regarding the presence of AC units in the bedrooms only. I am sorry if you didnt read carefully before you booked. I would anyway recommend that - next time you plan your vacation - you also plan a better budget and you book a 5 stars Hotel where the towels will be fluffy enough, the color tone will match and your highest expectations will have a better chance to be met. “ Vista mare” apartment is appreciated by people who come to enjoy their vacation in comfortable accommodation and discover the beauty the islands of Antigua and Barbuda have to offer.

The positive and negative

Simonetta is lovely, she is helpful and available.The interior and furnishings although very clean were abit tired but despite this had a cosy feel. The view from the patio is breathtaking and the highlight of our stay especially at sunset. Unfortunately the mosquito screens around the windows/door were ill fitting so we did get a few biites. The most negative point for us was the loud music/party noise coming from the hotel literally right behind us often going on until late and noise started again with shouting and car doors banging at 7am as hotel workers arrived for work. Having no glass on the windows, which is common in the tropics, the noise couldn’t be blocked out, it is definitely worse in the back bedroom. Past reviews barely mentioned this as being problematic but we were a 70 year old mum and her daughter looking for relaxation so this may not be a problem for other people. Also the house next to us was being renovated so there was unwanted daytime noise from that too, because of this we spent less time enjoying our patio than we wanted. For these reasons alone we wouldn’t go back but others may not find them an issue.

Thank you for your review Kathrine. I am sorry that the restaurant on the hill was noisy when you were here. The antiguan law says that music and noise should stop at 11 at night, but then there is the staff tidying up and nothing can be done for that. Most of the guests are not bothered by that. High on the Heights

Great location and spectacular view. During the day felt more like a private resort with our own private pool. This time of year constant breeze no AC needed. A home away from home.

Fully equipped, spotlessly clean

Fabulous communication from booking through to departure. Simonetta answered my many questions, sorted taxis and met us on arrival. The apartment has everything you need and the pool area is great. It’s true that the hill up from beach is pretty steep but you can get taxis. Other reviews mentioned the noise from the hotel behind the apartment - it didn’t bother us and was more than made up for as the terrace at the front of the partment is so peaceful and the view outstanding. Highly recommend the Italian restaurant a little way down the hill. You need a car or use taxis for shopping and to get to the wider selection of restaurants in the bay although we are in our 60s and did walk up the hill so it can’t be that bad! Thank you for letting us stay.

A great way to unwind after a long sail

After a long sail and a need to relax the apartment was a perfect place to absorb the tranquility of the island. Situated near the crest of the hill, the constant breeze was cooling and the view was spectacular. A great stay.
