Beautiful Garden Hawaiian Condo on the Kona Coast

The property is gated and is located close to amenities. The community salt-water lap pool includes two whirlpools, changing rooms, and space to relax surrounded by immaculately groomed grounds with an abundance of fragrant island foliage. It is a child-safe pool and offers great opportunities for family enjoyment.

You will also find a lovely covered community outdoor/picnic area, complete with gas grills. For your convenience, access to an onsite, 24-hour fitness center and business center is also included in your rental.

Within short walking distance are beaches, shops, restaurants, bars, and many other amenities. Across the street you will find the Hilton Waikoloa Village with spa, shopping, nine restaurants, and the Dolphin Quest Learning Center (terrific for kids and adults alike)! Also within easy walking distance are: Marriott’s newly refurbished Waikoloa Beach Resort & Spa, “A-Bay' (a white sand beach, named one of Hawaii’s finest beaches with great snorkeling and frequent sea turtle sightings), petroglyph trails, the King’s Shops (with Roy’s, Merriman’s Café, Coach, Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, Macys, and many others) and the new Queen’s Market Place which offers additional shopping, Starbucks, a large gourmet grocery and many dining opportunities.

For golf enthusiasts, premier golfing is practically on your doorstep. Just next door is the Waikoloa Beach Resort’s Beach Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., featuring a spectacular ocean front par five on the 502-yard 15th hole. The course is literally carved from the lava flow in the area. You are also within walking distance of the Waikoloa Kings’ Course designed by British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish.

Perfect condo in paradise

Our stay here was everything we could have hoped for during our time in Hawaii. Great location walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the Hilton conference center. This place is a little larger than the photos suggest too! The hosts were great to communicate with and I couldn't imagine a better place to stay in this area.

Vacation

Great place-spacious,airy. Can walk to shops and beach is 10” walk. Everything was great except I left a pouch behind containing about 200 worth of sun block and moisturizers that host was gracious enough to let us back in after check out 3 hrs earlier. Upon arrival, apt had already been cleaned, beds made and linens changed. Pouch was not there.

Highly recommend!

We had wonderful experience staying at Gretchen's condo. The listing and check in instructions were accurate and detailed. The condo is very well stocked and clean. Vista Waikoloa has very clean, well maintained, heated pool and two hot tubs which we fully enjoyed. We usually stay at Kolea resort, but found Vista Waikoloa be equally enjoyable. Unfortunately, our toddler scratched TV screen with crayons bad enough so it had to be replaced. Despite this inconvenience for the host, Gretchen's communication with us remained courteous and complete which we greatly appreciated.

beautiful location

This is the perfect spot if you are attending a conference nearby and want a walkable location at a much lower cost than resort hotels! OR just a great location! Everything was clean and the location is quiet and lovely! Our host was very communicative and helpful! This unit is steps from the pool which was wonderful!

Perfect vacation home

We have stayed here before and definitely will again! This condo is so welcoming and relaxing. We love being on the ground floor as my boyfriend has back issues and stairs are a pain! Close to the pool and we love the lanai! Owners are super responsive to any questions we had. Loved our visit!

Great stay!

Nice property with a great location. There are many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance (0.5 miles or less). Our host was quick to respond to emails and was very helpful. Would highly recommend!

Peaceful Retreat

The area is very quiet and convenient to the local amenities. We were pleased with how well appointed the kitchen is, and enjoyed the privacy of the outdoor sitting/dining areas. None of the walking paths go directly in front of this location, which is nice. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there.

Wonderful Waikoloa condo!

The condo was exactly as described on the website, everything was awesome. Great location, close drive to the very best sandy beaches. Very short walk to the pool and the awesome hot tubs. The condo was very clean and all of the appliances worked great. Gretchen promptly answered all of our questions, including providing helpful local information. We enjoyed having beach chairs and towels available for our use. We would definitely rebook this property.

Fantastic vacation Stay

Staying here was an absolute pleasure. The unit was spacious, very clean and had everything you could want. It was close to the beach, shopping and numerous restaurants. I had several communications with the owner who was very accommodating and gracious. They also provided a comprehensive welcome binder full of very useful information and brochures for all the activities and sightseeing on the island. When I return to the Big Island I will try and make arrangements to stay here again.

Well-equipped house

We loved the house hosted by Gretchen and Bob. It is in a wonderful complex, clean, spacious and well-equipped for hanging out on the beach, picnics and cooking. I would highly recommend this house.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your vacation home! This house was perfect! Lots of space, great location near pool and beach! Had all the beach amenitites we didnt pack! We actually split our time between between this place and 1 other and commented multiple times how we wished we had just stayed at yours! Mahalo!

Great location

Wonderful stay, we loved the short walk to see the sunsets and the closeness to shopping. The pool and hot tubs were great, we met some wonderful people there. Also, the community barbeques were very good. The condo is on the first floor and the way it is situated, we did not get much of the cross breeze, it is good to have the A/C when it got hot. Overall, the kitchen had what we needed, however some of the items are a bit old. Also, there was a lot of food left in the refrigerator that we had to toss out when we arrived. There was a large closet with lots of beach equipment which was great, but some of the items are getting old and a bit rusty (beach chairs and umbrella). Overall, we liked the condo and would stay again.

Perfect home away from home!

This is a very spacious condo in a great location. You can walk to the Hilton Waikoloa, Marriott, Kings Shop and Queens Marketplace. We had a car during our whole stay and parking is really close to loading/unloading. The nice pool/spa area is right outside from one of the two lanai areas. We cooked most of our breakfasts because it’s hard to get out of the house in the mornings with a 2-year old and dined out the rest of the meals, but the kitchen has everything you would need to make meals (rice cooker, well stocked pantry, lots of dishes, dishwasher, etc). The washer/dryer made it so easy to wash towels/beach clothes, and the beach snorkeling gears are more than enough for a family of 4. The bathrooms are more than sufficient for us including the big tub for the baby. They could use an upgrade but I hope they don’t before my next visit because they can double what they charge if/when they do! For what they charge now, you get so much more than what you pay for. Pictures Can Be Deceiving!

Upon arriving, we realized that the condo was not what we expected. Entering the condo was a door-mate that was worn and torn (I almost tripped). Here is a list of what disappointed us: 1. Ice maker was frozen 2. Walls we’re scuffed and needed painting 3. The owner controlled the use of the air conditioning and although he said, opening the bedroom windows would cool off the room during the night, there was often no breeze plus the window sills were black with an accumulation of dust and grim. (I would like to send photos of this) 4. The bed linens and towels are old and dingy, making what should have been a luxurious stay seem uncomfortable. 5. The barbecue and outdoor refrigerator were filthy beyond description (I also have photos of the barbecue that I think you should see.) 6. We paid top dollar for this condo and expected luxury.. Even at half the price we would had expected comfort and cleanliness. This Condo was unacceptable! 7. The only saving grace was a lovely convent location. 8. We would not stay there again and would not recommend to anyone.

Condo not as described

We chose this condo because of the location, high ratings, pictures and comments that it has a "gourmet kitchen." The location was fine. The condo didn't look like the pictures. There was no dining room set (the owners had ordered a new one and it hadn't arrived - they didn't tell us ahead of time). There was no working coffee maker. The kitchen knives were barely usable and the utensils and pots and pans were a mishmash - some usable but definitely NOT gourmet. The refrigerator and shelves had a lot of food, some of which was pretty old, and some marked for the condo owners (not really an issue, but the first time I'd run into that). They had beach supplies, but some were pretty ratty - one beach umbrella that worked for two barely. We found more beach stuff under the bed in the master bedroom, along with dead bugs (several inch long centipede and cockroaches). The bedspread in the master bedroom was stained. Fortunately, the washer and dryer worked great and we washed our sheets immediately. The artificial plants had a lot of dust on them (time for new ones, perhaps?) Overall, the condo was tired looking. The owners responded to questions quickly, but we were basically told it is what it is. Hawaii was lovely, as always, but I would not recommend this condo.

Not the greatest :(

First, the good stuff: 1. Location - Loved the location on the island as we have been here before and knew we liked the Kohala area beaches. Short drive to the best! 2. The area - Well maintained grounds, walking paths, and beautiful fishponds to wander by. A-bay (close by) is nice and relaxing. 3. Quiet - We were impressed with just how quiet this property is. Extremely relaxing to sit by the pool and read, or take a jacuzzi. The pool area is very nice. No noise when sleeping 4. Condo well-equipped - I don't believe we were lacking for anything that we needed in the condo. Plenty of paper supplies, towels, laundry items, pots/pans, spices, utensils. This includes a closet on the lanai which is stuffed with beach equipment. Chairs, umbrella, beach mats, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, ice chests & more. 5. The rental price - This is a nice price for the area. Unfortunately, there are some cons: 1. There was only one set of keys to the condo when the paperwork indicated there would be two. Luckily, there is the set in the lock box if it is needed. We notified the property manager immediately as we were concerned we would be charged for the missing set, and also about the phone (see #2) 2. There is no working phone in the condo. We realize we are in the age of cell phones; however, not EVERYONE, including elderly folks, has a cell phone. Prop.Mgr told us he would be by the next day with another set of keys & to check the phone. Never saw or heard from him again. 3. The beds are very uncomfortable and need replacing badly. 4. The second bedroom has no dresser for clothing. The drawers that are there are filled with a menagerie of office supplies for the computer area in the room. 5. The seats of the dining room chairs are in bad need of a cleaning. 6. The laminated wood flooring and area rugs are very nice, but the whole unit is worn and in need of TLC/repair/replacement/updating. The lamp closest to the slider in the master bedroom works; however, the bulb is laying sideways, being held on by the electrical cords. Possible fire hazard. 7. The washer and dryer are small and can't accommodate large loads. I put two beach towels in the washer (beautiful, thick ones provided by the owners :) and the washer was full. This creates a problem when instructions say to only leave one wash load for the maid. NOT possible when you have to leave early in the morning (sheets, towels).

Ground Floor Unit with beautiful foliage and lovely lanai

This unit at VISTA was in a good location for an 89 yo with Parking and pool vicinity. Loved the lanais and foliage surrounding it. The unit does need a deep cleaning. Plenty of pots, pans and dishes. Appreciated the owners stocking the unit with paper goods and supplies. One of the toilets had problems, that my son continued to repair. Bucket under the sink collected water that smelled and had to be emptied regularly. Could hear the people upstairs moving furniture at 5:30 am and walking alot. Otherwise a very nice unit for our three week stay.

We live, work, and have raised our family in Anchorage, Alaska. We have five children ranging in age from 24 to 46 and four teenage grandchildren. We are both very active in the community but not so active we can’t escape to The Big Island for a some aloha spirit.

We particularly love The Big Island with its variety of climate, vegetation, wonderful beaches, and many things to do.

When we decided to buy in Hawaii, we looked at several properties. We didn’t get the same “island feeling” in the other units. The best way to describe it is the feeling of “aloha.” Walking into our condo and opening the lanai doors to the beautiful garden brings an amazing sense of peace, relaxation and anticipation of fun.

The location is perfect for exploring the beaches and towns on the sunny Kohala Coast. With the beautiful beach at A-Bay, fine dining and a variety of shops all within walking distance many needs can be met without ever having to leave the resort area. It is a haven whether you want to kick back and do nothing or venture out and do everything

The mature landscaping is amazing. The pool is salt water, heated, big enough for lap swimming and there are two fabulous hot tubs. The unit is ground floor so not having to carry groceries, or beach gear upstairs is great.
