Lakefront Cottage on Lake Lure

Snug Cove cottage is nestled along the shores of Lake Lure in Snug Harbor Cove.

The cottage is two levels, separated into three large bedrooms. The first and second floor both have a full sized bathroom with tub/ shower. The kitchen, living room with large stone fireplace and eating area are all located on the first floor. The cottage has multi-zone heating throughout.

The cottage will sleep up to seven people comfortably.

The modern boathouse located directly on the shores of Lake Lure, offers splendid views of Lake Lure and Snug Harbor Cove. In addition to great views of Lake Lure, the boathouse has plentiful decks and platforms for sunbathing, diving and access to one of the best fishing coves on Lake Lure.

Water sports, hiking, shopping and dining are conveniently located around Lake Lure, a beautiful western North Carolina vacation destination.

Due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene to the region in 2024, please check with the Town of Lake Lure for the latest updates about the condition of the lake and lake access. Use and access to the inside of the boathouse is not allowed (outer deck/dock area and rooftop deck may be used).

Location, Location, Location

Spectacular water access with a boathouse full of water sports equipment! Beautiful views of the lake in a quiet cove. The house was very nice with upgraded kitchen and bathrooms. Restaurants, grocery store, gas, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure beach all within 5 minutes. Relaxation plus! We’ll be back!

Perfect Lakeside Cottage

My son and I stayed on Snug Cove Cottage for 4 days after Labor Day. The photos on the site do not do it justice. It is rustic and has a great floorplan. The view and boathouse are very nice. My son loved using his paddleboard several times daily. Loved our mini vacation here!

Great get away

We loved relaxing at the boathouse and swimming in the lake. The boathouse was well stocked! House was cozy with a great view.

Fabulous in Every Way!

This is a very special property -- right on the lake, totally comfortable and charming, with plenty of space for the four of us (and more, if your group includes children). The owner has done upgrades over the years and pays special care that everything is in order. The internet went out (throughout the neighborhood) for a day, and the owner was right on top of it, contacting the provider and being totally responsive to our calls. We are happy campers!!!

Perfect lake getaway

We loved staying in this cozy house for a few days on Lake Lure. The boat house was stocked with floats and stand-up paddle boards, and the kids enjoyed jumping off the roof of the boat house into the water. The kitchen was well stocked, and the bedrooms were cozy. Everything was simple, but just what we needed. The only downside was that the tv was not a Smart tv, so we couldn't access our Netflix or Hulu accounts. It would be great to replace the current tv with a newer one for this reason. Thanks!

Great Getaway

It was absolutely wonderful. The only problem was, I was confused because in the photo, I couldn't see the cabin that well. Maybe post more pictures of the cabin. Otherwise, it was great and would stay there again.

Perfect getaway

Joan’s lake house was a perfect long weekend getaway for me and a family member. Direct access to the lake allowed us to be on our paddleboards everyday. They also have two paddleboards, a kayak and a canoe in their boathouse if you don’t have your own equipment. There is an upper deck on top of the boathouse that is so cool to sit on and overlook the lake and surrounding mountains. Their house was clean and had everything we needed. Joan was a super friendly and amazing host and so responsive prior to and during our trip. I highly recommend her place, and when I come back to Lake Lure, I will definitely be renting her place again!

Fall Getaway

Amazing views of fall foliage from this wonderful cabin and boathouse on the lake! The cabin was even nicer than we expected. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Cabin in conveniently located. We visited Chimney Rock, local shops & restaurants,gem mining, the Flowering Bridge, Sky Top Apple Orchard (30 min) and Western NC Nature Center.(45 min). Joan responded quickly to any questions we had.

All around tranquil environment

This place had everything we were looking for in a nice, quiet lake house. Small, but good use of space for two couples to comfortably enjoy. The house was very clean and the few questions we had for the property owner were met with a prompt phone call and/or message over the app. I would have been content just hanging out at the house and on the boat house deck every day, but we had big daily plans of visiting Ashville, Hendersonville and Chimney Rock. It is a nostalgic place you might have grew up visiting as a kid. Its what a cabin on the lake should be, and we look forward to our next visit when we'll spend more time at the house and lake. Thank you for sharing it with us.

We had a wonderful line of communication with our property owner; however, when we entered the house, I was stunned at how old and outdated the furniture was! It would certainly improve the home if there was a new couch and chairs. When we arrived and I got over the shock of the furniture, I went into the downstairs bedroom and found the bed only halfway made. Why? The lake area was pleasant but we were unable to open the door to access any of the equipment. So . . .

Just what I paid for

The cabin was quaint, homey and enough space for our family of 4. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils. The appliances were clean as well as the bathrooms. There were some cobwebs but it’s the mountains and we anticipated a few based off other reviews. The driveway was tight with our large truck as well as steep which made for some fun and wrecks for the kids on bikes. Overall it was great stay with easy checkout requests and we’d love to go back. The dock and swimming access along with the water equipment were just what we wanted.

Lake Lure a Hidden Gem

Clean, comfortable and cozy cottage on the lake. Absolutely perfect for Lake Lure and the Village at Chimney Rock State Park. If you like tranquility this private lake experience will deliver. Find a friend with a boat or rent one. The lake tour is worth it.

Lake house

A great location. It was a bit more rustic than I expected, and there were a lot of cobwebs on the property. The canoe was unusable and one of the paddle boards was missing a skeg. We were excited to get on the lake with these water toys, so kinda disappointing. I would return if these things were addressed. If you go, be sure to check out the Flower Bridge nearby in Chimney rock!

This was our third stay here and the accommodations were fantastic in every way, but the location and especially the views were even better. Three Days in a Cozy Cottage by the Lake

My family and I had a lovely, peaceful time in this clean, cozy, well-equiprd cottage by the lake. My nephew and two grandnephews are from Belgium so the area around Lake Lure was a new experience for them. They enjoyed the canoe and the available equipment in the boathouse and we rented a motor boat; scooting around the lake was really fun. The owner was approachable and answered all my questions. The kitchen had everything we needed.. Thank you to VRBO and Joan.
