Located in Barton City Mi on tranquil ~200 acre Jewell Lake, (sandy bottom/great play area!) in the heart of the Huron National Forest. +/- 900 ft2 knotty pine cabin on very quite dead end road, sleeps 7, 2 bedrooms with 1 Queen Bed, 1 Full/Bunk, and sleeper sofa, all linens provided. 1 full bath with towels. Kitchen stocked with staples (coffee, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, spices), new pots/pans, microwave, stove, fridge, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, blender. Large knotty pine living room with great view of the lake, Free WIFI, Flat Screen TV with Roku, Blu-ray, and 2 fire places (1 with gas log for spring/fall use). Large attached Deck with Gas Grill, picnic table, deck chairs and great view of the lake or lakeside benches to enjoy the fire pit . Dock with 12ft aluminum boat with oars, kayak and 4 adult PFD's included.
Typical rental week is Saturday to Saturday (check in 4pm, check out 10am)

The welcome basket was a nice feature upon arrival. We refilled it after enjoying a few of the items. One chair needed some care as it was very well worn. We enjoyed our stay visiting other areas and liked being able to travel & include our pet.

Cabin was very clean, well supplied and just what we were hoping for. Its location suited our excursion needs and the availability of a row boat gave us chance to do some fishing on the lake. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Everything as described and then some! a very quiet and relaxing week. Charming, comfortable cottage and lake front. We had the lake to ourselves all week until Friday (Labor Day weekend).

Amazing property and location. Lake house is perfect, clean, comfortable, well stocked, and well kept. Very impressive yard, plush grass. Great dock, easy entry to water, perfect swimming area. The deck at the house is large and comfortable, breeze seemed to allow towards house which kept things cool. The nicest grill I’ve seen at a rental property by far. Great fishing at the lake, great hiking nearby at Reid Lake. Very short walk to bar, diner, and market. Nice pickleball court at close park, wish brought our paddles. Will return and recommend to friends.

We had a great time meeting up with our adult children for some R & R. The lake was beautiful, & the area is secluded. We were able to ride our bikes around. There are many trails in the National Forest to explore. We went to Stugeon Point Lighthouse, Alpena, & Hale which were all within an hour of there. We mostly grilled our food at the cabin but did eat at the nearby restaurant & bar. Both places had good food. It was especially nice that we could bring our dogs along! The lake was a little hard for our 13 year old dog to get into though as there are rocks right by shore & she wasn’t able to navigate the dock steps. 1 dog was able to learn how to ride in a kayakThe sunsets were absolutely amazing!Watching the mist come off the lake in the morning was just as beautiful!

Had a wonderful time. Cabin is beautiful and well maintained, had to spend a day inside due to storms but didn't mind with all the games and movies to entertain. The private beach area and lake were both perfect, enjoyed kayaking around the lake at sunset. Had a great breakfast at the hammer and nail, highly recommend. Overall a wonderful experience, would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet lake house!

A very quiet stay on a very beautiful lake, just perfect for us and our dog. You can swim or fish right from the dock, and the kayaks and rowboats make the rest of the lake accessible.

Nice getaway

Great little cabin, nice area and the lake is beautiful. We had a lot of fun fishing and caught quite a few bass and panfish. Ken is a great host and responds promply should you need anything. Highly recommended!

Cozy cottage on beautiful lake

We really enjoyed our stay. It is in a quiet location. (We were there early June.) We appreciated that the cottage had all of the staples. There is a quaint store within walking distance. We used the kayaks and rowboat and enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner on the deck. We ran into a couple small items that the host addressed right away (great communication).

Perfect family (and pup) getaway

My family was able to immediately slow down from the hustle of everyday life when we arrived at the Knotty Pine Retreat. The cottage had everything we needed and it was a comfortable stay in every regard. (My daughter misses “that couch” - best napping spot around!) The lakefront was our favorite place to read, wade, and sit around the fire; the kayaks and row boats got daily use. Walking to the nearby park and grabbing brunch at Hammer and Nail are among other highlights of our trip. Ken was the perfect responsive host - thank you for allowing our pup to join us too! We took many memories with us and are so grateful for this space to just “be” this week.

Great place - fun ice fishing

This is a wonderful place - just as advertised! Clean and cozy - we loved the gas fireplace. Ken was great to work with before and during our stay - very responsive. He went out of his way to help us and recommended local bait shops, type of fish in the lake, and where to find them! We had fun! We recommend this cabin! Also we recommend Hammer & Nail restaurant right around the corner - fantastic food and service.

Amazing little cottage on the lake!

Beautiful view in a quiet little town and if you are into golf there are quite a few extremely nice courses out that way! We played white pine national and red hawk golf club and they were the two nicest courses we have played in Michigan so far! Awesome small town bars and beautiful almost everywhere you drive! Will definitely be coming back when the warmer weather hits again!

Fall Colors Getaway

Cabin is spacious and clean. Great location and comfortable beds. Nice deck and gas grill although we didn't use the propane grill, it's nice to know it's there for possible future stay. Loved the fireplace. Sofa was rough on our backs but chairs were comfy. Check out time being 10AM is a bit early, 11AM would be much more accommodating.

Peace & tranquility

This vrbo has everything essential that you need. The view of the lake is great and it was so quiet and peaceful. I took my dog and she enjoyed the lake along with Sturgeon Point State Park. We had the beach to ourselves and it was sandy so the dog really enjoyed it. Nice big yard too!

One week of bliss!

Property and overlook was beautiful I laid in bed when I woke up, looked out and just immersed myself in that little piece of heaven. I really really needed that!! Thank you so very much for sharing❤️ When your coffee maker “dies” You may want to think About a single cup coffee maker that uses pods You don’t waste grounds and I-think it makes a better cup of coffee Just a thought.. Faster too Thank thank you again Our next visit won’t come soon enough!! Your welcome basket was so cute and.KIND We truly have been telling everyone how much we loved it! Our thanks again! Hi, I am Ken, and with my wife Michelle, we are offering this cabin for rent. We live in South Lyon and are 'up north' most weekends (we have a cabin across the lake from this rental). We have 2 college age boys and 2 English Setters.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

Michelle and I purchased this cabin in the fall of 2013 to 'keep it in the family'. We built a cabin on the other side of the lake in 2000, however from the time I was a baby I was coming up to this 'side of the lake'. This cabin is next to other family members and was very important to us to keep it in the family. I have 2 boys that will eventually end up with this place. In the interim we have chosen to rent this so others can enjoy the area/cabin/lake as I have for 50yrs.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

This is a very family friendly location. Lots of room to enjoy the outdoors with the large lot, fire pit, deck, lakeside bench. There is a hiking trail around the lake, accessible from the end of the road, as well as Reid Lake nature area 3miles away. The 'ball diamond' is located in the park 1 block away with 'old fashion' playground equipment, a basketball court, horseshoe pits and is the 'center' of the Biggest 4th in the North.
