Escape to our classic jersey shore waterfront cottage in the heart of Bay Head, perfectly nestled on Scow Ditch, which leads into Twilight Lake and Barnegat Bay. This is a rare opportunity to stay in a peaceful yet walkable location—just minutes from the beach, shops, and the charm of downtown Bay Head.

The cottage comfortably sleeps six guests and features:
* 3 bedrooms (2 with full beds, 1 with two twins), including one bedroom and a half bath on the first floor—ideal for guests needing easy access.
* A full bath upstairs with shower.
* Outdoor hot water shower—perfect after a beach day.
* Fully equipped kitchen: gas stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, and more.
* Washer/dryer, window A/C units, and dining room for family meals.
* Private yard with gas grill, plus both street and off-street parking.
* 4 beach badges provided (required for ages 12+ to enter beach with life guard). Additional daily badges may be purchased by the renter at the BHIA office down the road.

LOCATION HIGHLIGHT:
* Steps from Twilight Lake, walking distance to Bay Head beaches, downtown cafés, shops, and ice cream, and just minutes from the Bay Head train station. Nearby is a public park, playground, and tennis/pickleball courts.
We are dog-friendly up to 20 pounds (with owner approval) for a $200 fee per dog.
The front house on the property is also available to rent and sleeps 8-10 (VRBO #165058).

The cottage is run down, mice infested and overall, needs ALOT of work..it needs painting, a deep cl

The beds were comfy, the shower is great, the tv is great, the WiFi was less than acceptable.. The location was perfect...away from Rt 35 and on a lagoon which was very quiet. So if the landlord can slap some paint on the interior., clean up the outside, it would be a real GEM!

Quaint Cottage in Excellent Location

Exactly as described. Quaint, clean comfortable cottage in an excellent location. 2 Bocks from the beach. 1 block form restaurants and shops but very very private! Will book again.

Great location, house old and showing it

The house was so close to the beach! Screened in Portch was great for an evening cocktail when the kids were asleep. House was a little disappointing. Not as clean as we hoped (hairballs, dirt in the walls). There were aunts but the house is quite old and so close to water it was to be exspected.

Nice cottage near the beach

Everything was smooth. Beach was a few blocks away and was spectacular! Owner provided 4 beach badges which was perfect. Cottage fit our needs. We were able to find restaurants close by with outdoor seating. Bay head is a very nice town. Highly recommend!

Great Place

This is a great place to stay, we had a really awesome vacation. My husband & I took our 2yr old daughter and dog. The house is literally on the water so not exactly toddler friendly but it's still really cool to step outside into the front yard and be right on the bay. Its really nice sitting on the front porch at night too. Just beware of the town swan! He won't leave you alone if you feed him just one time and he hissed at our dogs constantly. The location is amazing, really upscale nice safe quiet part of town. I loved being 2 blocks from the beach and there's a great park only a block away. The house isn't glamorous but its a great little quant cottage style house and perfect for our needs with kids/pets. Such a beautiful area, and beach was clean and ocean water was perfect! I would stay here again!

Great place for the weekend

Had a great time staying at the property. The owners were very accommodating and were open to last minute extensions for our stay which was really nice of them. They also allowed dogs which was so convenient and our dog loved the open space. Overall a great house for the weekend while we spent most of our time at Asbury Park, it was a nice place to come back and spend our evenings in.

We did not stay in the property due to the health hazard it possessed. We are seeking a refund! What a shame.

Quaint Cottage

Private, quiet, spacious cottage. Walking distance to the beach and several restaurants. Canal on side of cottage perfect space for fishing/crabbing. Lovely stay.

Awesome!

This is an affirmation of all the positive reviews about the quaint but lovely cottage beside a scowl ditch. My family had the most relaxing vacation ever. Love the location, just a short walk to the shops, restaurants, beach. Amusement park in Point Pleasant is just a short drive. Oh yes, we had lots of fun crabbing as well. The cottage had everything we needed. Can't wait to go back next summer...our place to go for a perfect vacation. .

Something for everyone

This cottage was clean and had a great location. There was something for everyone. My elderly mother in law enjoyed the first floor bedroom with a window facing the water. She also loved the enclosed porch. My two teenage children loved Jenkinson's boardwalk and amusement park which was only a 10 minute drive down the road. The bay head beach was so clean and not crowded at all. It was a two block walk from the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed, all in working order. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils, etc. There was a washer/dryer and dishwasher. My family would stay here again.

Great location!

House could not be in a better location to access the beach and downtown Bay Head on foot. It has pretty much everything you need for a low-key, beach/fishing vacation. The house is quite old but is in OK repair considering. Hot water was no longer a problem as has been noted in earlier reviews. Owner is very responsive.

Great location

We had a great time here. My only complaints would be the shower pressure is extremely low. Hot water runs out very quickly. Aside from that, location is great and would stay again.

Overall a great stay

This is a nice rental, for the money. Only issue is the insufficient amount of hot water. ( runs out into second shower) need to wait at least 30 min between showers The house is older but we loved the feel of it. Was very clean on arival and all questions answered promptly. Thank you !!

cottage on the scow ditch

This cottage served as home base for two families of three (3 kids, 3 adults) for a week and we had a nice time. Two of three bedrooms had AC, which was nice. The screened porch was great for hanging out and playing cards, and there is a table and chairs where we could sit outside and eat. It's about two blocks from the beach which was so convenient. We also enjoyed crabbing on the the scow ditch off the side of the house. The owner was responsive to our needs but not around. Some of the windows were missing curtains, which are great for keeping the heat out during the day. For the price per night, it seemed like things like that should be taken care of. But on the whole, it was a functoinal place for the six of us and I would stay here again.

Another fabulous vacation at the best location in Bay Head!

Our annual trip to the cottage on Scowl Ditch was another success!!!! Love the new bathroom upstairs and the new cushions on the couches. Loved the addition of more outdoor seating. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you :)

Comfortable, cozy cottage

We absolutely loved this property! We had no trouble whatsoever, and never needed to contact the owner, although he was always available. The sweep-out cottage has all the basic necessities without any of the frills. Peaceful, private and roomy; a casual and charming house, and the window a/c units did the job. Comfortably sleeps 2 couples and 2 kids. We happily spent the most relaxing week fishing and crabbing right from our backyard and enjoying the beautiful ocean less than 2 blocks away, We would definitely come back here! Thanks!
