16 Live Oak is a charming and well-appointed beach cottage that is perfect for family and friends. Live Oak cottages are 5 beach bungalows located right off of Ocean Blvd. and within walking distance to the beach and village! 16 Live Oak offers wide plank pine flooring with an open and spacious floor plan to suit all! The cottage has four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. The master bedroom is located on the main floor with a king size bed, custom designed linens, Sterns & Foster mattress, sitting area with chaise lounge overlooking the pool and hot tub and master bath with double sink area, tub and shower. There are two bedrooms upstairs, both with queen size beds and a large bathroom with double sinks, tub and shower to share. The guesthouse is nestled in the treetops and may be accessed from the main home or from a private stairway off of the pool area. The guesthouse has twin beds, a bathroom and a galley kitchen. The front porch with its rocking chairs at the entrance provides a comfortable, quiet area to drink that morning cup of coffee or evening cooler as you watch the sunrise and set. The dining area is separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar with stools, keeping you engaged in conversation as you prepare meals. The oversized pine dining table is a perfect place for any meal or game time with family and friends! The kitchen is fully furnished and equipped with updated appliances, which includes gas range and stove, large stainless refrigerator with icemaker, above counter, built-in microwave with countertop night lighting. The beautiful custom cabinetry above the bar area displays the abundant 'coastal style' porcelain and glass serving pieces with inset lighting. The spacious family room is the central area of the cottage for relaxation with your family and friends. The family room is beautifully appointed with vaulted ceilings, gas fireplace and LCD television with DVD, cable and secure Wi-Fi. The goose-down sofa, club chairs and artwork are a luxury for all to enjoy! The abundant floor to ceiling windows allows as much natural light as you desire and/or for privacy, all windows have custom plantation shutters.
The lovely brick patio and privacy wall surrounds the soaking pool and heated whirlpool. The pool area may be accessed from the family room, guesthouse or the porch area off of the master bedroom. Enjoy Adirondack style seating and a large covered patio with dining table and chairs.
16 Live Oak Place is truly an experience that will create many family memories. The homeowners manage the beach cottage and they will do everything to ensure your stay is unforgettable. This will be the vacation your family will talk about for years!

Great place for families

The house was very comfortable with plenty of parking, even for my trailer and golf cart. It was nice to have the separate guest house, the kids stayed there. The pool and hot tub were great, and the house was well stocked with everything.

Beautiful spacious home perfect for a family vacation!

We absolutely loved this house, the pool and the spa! It was spacious, clean, cozy, and helped us create beautiful beach memories. Great for two families

We have been coming to SSI for the last 7 years! This was our favorite property so far! Enough room for two families and room to spare. We loved the outdoor area for late evenings. Our teens took over the guest house and we all enjoyed the trip! Jennifer was amazing and stayed in touch prior to our arrival and during our stay!

Great property, lots of room to spread out and relax. Loved the seashell decor throughout the house. The pool and spa were enjoyed by all! Some issues with the spa were immediately fixed, owner was very involved getting the repairs scheduled and helped keep our vacation on track. Loved SSI & Jekyll!!

Perfect Location

We have rented several places on the island and the location of this one was great. Short walk to the beach and shopping in the village. Had issues with the hot tub upon arrival but the owner was super responsive and fixed right away. The house electrical is older so not as easy to control the hot tub and figure out the lights with many light switches. The wifi did not work in the guest house but we did not reach out to the owner about that because we ended up not using that space. Location is absolutely perfect. We brought our dog and he enjoyed the sunrise as much as I did.

Awesome home from Great owners

Every year we spend the week after Christmas on vacation in a rental house. This year was awesome. The house was exactly as stated, but better. It was in perfect condition and the heated spa was wonderful. We had plenty of room and a fenced in yard for our 2 dachshunds. Everything from sitting in the den to sleeping was comfortable and welcoming. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but very close to excellent restaurants, shops, and the pier. We were able to go fishing from the pier and playing on the beach which is right down the road. After a hard day of play and eating great food, a quick dip in the spa and a great sleep to end the perfect day. We are looking forward to next year if everything works out. My 6 year did not want to leave which tells it all.

My Truth

For an older property it was just OK. We noticed a cracked window on front porch before we entered. Also one porch window was open about 4 inches at the top. We closed it but could not get the window to lock. The closet where the air condition/heating blower are located on the 1st floor hall is filthy. The doors for the closets upstairs were off the rails so we just left them alone and lived out of suitcases. There was a lot of damage to paint on the doors. The air conditioner worked and the hot water for bathes was OK. So all in all for 5 nights we managed OK. The house is farther to the each access than we thought.

Perfect Thanksgiving week

Our extended family stayed at the St. Simons house over Thanksgiving week & it was great! The house was a good size for 6 of us. The kitchen was well-equipped for holiday cooking & nice meals together. We spent much of our time visiting on the front porch & most of our time was spent at the house. We had plenty of comfortable space for 2 singles & 2 couples. Everything was as pictured.

October Family Trip

Overall a great week with my family. Main perk was having our dogs with us. The house was in a great location. Easy walk to the beach and village. My brother in law stayed in the attached guest house and could not use the shower ( too small )..other than that the house was perfect for us to hang out, read on the front porch and play games in the den. ( 7 adults ) looking forward to next year!!

Perfect vacation house

This house was perfect for our group. It was me and my wife, our two adult kids and their friends as well as another couple. The outside pool area was perfect for hanging out in the evening. Beach was walkable but we rented a golf cart. Highly recommended when visiting the island. We stayed for a week and we never actually had to get in a car. The downtown area was also just a short walk (real quick golf cart ride) from the house. Property contact was incredibly responsive and house was very clean and everything was in working order. Would highly recommend this property.

Hello, we are the Ward's! We have two grown daughters who are both married with children. Kimberly lives in Macon Ga with her husband Wade and daughter Banks and Jennifer resides in Birmingham AL with her husband Alan and twins, Emy and Mac. We live in Macon where I was raised and where we raised our children. Both of our children are graduates from UGA and we are full fledged Bulldog fans!

Growing up in Macon GA, our family vacationed in St. Simons Island ever since I can remember. My grandmother lived on the island for many years and was a real estate broker with Parker & Kaufman. St. Simons Island has always been a home away from home for our family and we have always dreamed of owning our own home on the island.
The first time we laid our eyes on the Cottages at Live Oak, we knew this was the home for our growing family! Our grandchildren love their visits to SSI, just as our children did and the memories we have already created are irreplaceable!
The pool and hot tub were a must! As much as we all enjoy days at the beach, it is nice having the option of late afternoon swims and relaxing in the heated whirlpool. The location of 16 Live Oak could not be more perfect. We walk to the village for breakfast in the mornings and we walk to the pier in the evenings. The village area is our family's favorite place! It's a great place to walk in and out of quaint shops, dine at family owned restaurants, eat the best ice cream and sweets and our family favorite, walking on the pier and watching families crabbing or fishing. The views of Jekyll and Cumberland Island are beautiful from the pier and you always see amazing wildlife!
The beach is within walking distance of our cottage or makes for a great bike ride for sight seeing along the way! Our favorite part of the beach is East Beach. Many times because of the unique tides the island is known for, there are large sandbars right off of the shore or tidal pools on the beach. Our grandchildren will spend all day in the tidal pools chasing small fish and collecting sand dollars!

The design of the home is an open concept with vaulted ceilings allowing for families to gather comfortably.
The downstairs expansive master bedroom and reading nook, allows for privacy and comfort. We invested in a Sterns & Foster pillow top mattress, which sleeps wonderfully! All the bedrooms have custom linens, white matelasse's and down pillows. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you could ever need. We have a collection of coastal inspired serving pieces that really make you feel at home!
