Best ground floor updated condo!

We had the best time here! Extremely clean and had brand new couch! Kitchen had so many amenities and pantry and fridge had unopened items which were a plus as well! Best location with new modern sliding glass doors out to the property! Cindy was a quick and responsive host! We’ll definitely be booking again in a few months!

Great stay!!!

Our stay at this Condo was great! The pictures are accurate, but everything looks even better in person. The beds were comfortable and everything in the unit worked as it should. The view from the lanai is breathtaking and the grounds of the Whaler are amazing! Hopefully we'll be able to come back and visit again!

Family Trip

Wonderful accommodations

This property has such easy access to everything and the room was set up very well for our family of four. We moved from another unit halfway through our stay and Cindy was incredibly accommodating - got us in early so we weren’t displaced for the hours between checkout of the other room to check in of this room. Can’t wait to return!

Nice Unit

The unit was great and the property manager was very helpful. She allowed us to enter the unit an hour early which allowed us to unpack and enjoy the area when we arrived.

Wonderful Unit at the Whaler

We have stayed at the Whaler a number of times and in some cases we walked in to a very dated unit. Not so in this case! Well appointed and beautifully decorated, we were very impressed with everything. Cindy is a pleasure to work with and we will definitely be back!

Great for first family vacation

We stayed at Cindy's place for our first trip as a family, with our 3.5 month daughter and everything was perfect! The ground floor location made it super convenient to get to / from the beach, walking path, and whaler's village with baby in tow. The free laundry is also just around the corner from the unit so that made things really easy as well. Cindy also provided lots of amenities to make our stay super easy and enjoyable - beach chairs, a brand new pack n play for baby, as well as necessities like soap & detergent. We'd love to return to this amazing location and beautiful property!

Paradise!

You can't beat the location of this condo. Bottom floor is great if you have kiddos, ours were in and out all day either in the pool, beach, playing soccer on the lawn, or shopping at Whalers. If you have kids this place is ideal. Cindy was great checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. The unit is fully stocked for cooking, with more amenities than you would think. She had beach umbrellas, chairs, snorkel gear, a cooler, etc. Would definitely stay here again!

A Wonderful Time

The property is beautiful, the condo is very well-maintained and chock full of useful items. It was so convenient to have a fully equipped kitchen. Everything felt very spacious, there were two of us this trip, but there was room for four with the Murphy bed. We felt spoiled staying here, SO much better than a hotel room. We loved being able to walk out the condo to feed the koi fish and grab a coffee from the lobby. It was perfect to be right on the beach and having Whaler Village next door was super convenient. You could grab something quick at the ABC store, go shopping for gifts or clothing, or sample the great restaurants. The beach boardwalk is beautiful to stroll/jog and Lahaina is a short drive away. We loved our first time in Maui very much, and hope to return soon!

Beautiful family vacation!

This was our first trip to Hawaii. We have traveled to many places but never Hawaii. We are in love with Maui! it was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. A perfect trip for a family of four with two teenagers. I cannot say enough about the entire experience dealing with Cindy. Her communication with us from the beginning has been seamless. Her condominium was so welcoming and felt like you were at home! The location was superb, the condo was extremely clean, the bedding was so comfortable, the closet space was incredible, the terrace was fantastic! loved waking up and sitting on the terrace drinking my coffee. We loved everything about it and cannot wait to return.

The Perfect Vacation Rental

We were so thrilled with this rental from beginning to the end of our vacation. My oldest son was getting married on Maui and I needed multiple rentals to accommodate our large family. I rented this unit for my younger son, his wife and 10-month old baby. I had never stayed at The Whaler but we couldn't have been happier. This first floor unit with a patio was great for them to take the stroller in and out. Easy access to the pool and beach. Walk to Whaler's Village. Check-in was a breeze. The comment from the front desk staff "This owner does everything right" and that was spot-on. Unit was ready on time & even had pack-n-play for baby. Cindy checked in with us mid-week to see if we needed anything. We didn't. She had already thought of it all! This unit could have worked just as well for my husband & I or my mom + aunt & uncle. Not all rentals are created equal - this one is top-notch! We have been coming to Maui for 40+ years. We will be back.

Take me Back!!

This was our first time visiting Maui and we wish we could stay forever. We visited in August and the condo was perfect for us! It was comfortable, spacious, clean and the kitchen was well stocked. It had everything that we needed and more. There were even beach chairs and a boogie boards on the lanai. We really appreciated not having to rent these for the stay. Our aunt stayed with her grandchildren in another condo and she had to rent these items because they weren’t provided by her owner. She kept telling us how lucky we were because of all the amenities that our owner provided for us. Speaking of owners, Cindy was great! She called before our trip to answer any questions and called during our stay to make sure we were enjoying the condo. She was always easily accessible but we had no issues at all during our stay. The location of the condo on the ground floor was the best. Loved having our own private entrance to the grounds and the beach right off the Lanai. The Whaler itself is in a perfect location with just a short walk along the boardwalk to restaurants, shopping, and family entertainment at The Whalers Village. The beach in front of the Whaler is amazing, plenty of beach for the kids to enjoy. Snorkeling and cliff jumping at Black Rock is also within walking distance. We even saw a few turtles! I could go on and on with this review but will end with, our stay was perfect! Thank you Cindy for the wonderful memories our family will have from our stay at your condo. We will definitely be back… Mahalo! 🌺

Shares a wall with very noisy elevators.

For our honeymoon we decided to book this unit because it was in a great location for us to walk around and enjoy Kaanapali. The major problem is that this units main bedroom shares a wall with the elevators. Since it’s a ground floor unit everyone in this entire building goes up and down to this floor all day and night. We were woken up at 6:30am to the dings of the elevator and loud system running. We could not sleep through it. I contacted the owner and she mentioned that they sleep with the AC on full blast so it doesn’t bother them. We don’t sleep with the AC on, and even if we did, we would still be able to hear it. She also said the building is supposed to slow the elevators down between 10pm-8am. This was not disclosed to us. We would not want to be woken up to the elevators even at 8am, we came to Maui to enjoy our honeymoon and relax. The owner also suggested maybe we sleep in the queen size Murphy bed in the living room instead. This is not what we paid over $6,000 for. She said she sent us a map showing where the unit was located by the elevator, but no mention it shared a wall with it. We ended up having to move units the second day we were there to a different one in the same building. We were offered no refund unless they could rebook, but they didn’t, so she kept all of our money. I want everyone to be aware of this, because regardless of other reviewers say it was very loud and not what we were expecting.

This is a very unfortunate review. We could take exception to several of the comments made, but choose not to. We will let the other 60 plus 5 star reviews speak for themselves and lots of repeat customers for the last 25 years. We will state categorically, we have NEVER misrepresented ourselves to anyone. (Map of the building along with all the photos clearly states where the elevator is located) This customer, just packed up and left after 1 night then let us know they checked out then bashes us. We will always strive to satisfy all customers. I guess you just can’t please everyone , but we will continue to try. Only guests that have paid thru Vrbo can leave negative or positive reviews and cannot be taken down.

Another nice stay, except....

My family and I stayed in Whaler 119 again for the second time (see original post May 2016). Again, we really enjoyed our visit and all the conveniences that a ground floor condo provides, as well as the close proximity to the Village next door. I have been visiting the Whaler for 17 years, my extended family for over 25 years. We can honestly say that the Whaler is the best. As advertised, the condo has one king bed in the bedroom and one murphy bed in the living area. We have a tall teenager and a taller than average younger daughter. My extended family, 25-year+ oceanfront TI-owners, let us borrow their rollaway bed so that my daughter could sleep more comfortably rather than sleeping with her tall, bed-hogging teenage brother. This was the second time we did this, the first being in 2016 when we stayed in 119 the first time. Our visit in 119 was very enjoyable and going smoothly without any hiccups. That is until I received a text and call from Cindy early morning on the second to last day of our stay (13 days total). I was informed that one of the her friends arrived at the Whaler the day prior (to her call) and "noticed" a rollaway bed near the sliding glass door to the patio. She asked why the rollaway was in the condo and how did it get in there. I told her that it was for my daughter to sleep on and it was moved in from our family's unit upstairs. She also asked how it fit, and I responded that it fit perfectly next to the murphy bed and sliding door. At that point I was asked firmly by Cindy to remove the rollaway bed that day, the condo sleeps 4 people, but if one of my children would like to sleep in the rollaway in my family's condo they can do that. Of course I apologized and didn't realize that my moving a rollaway to the condo would be such a concern. I was told that the rollaway shouldn't be in there as it might "damage" things. Per Cindy's request, I returned it right away. I took responsibility and apologized. One may wonder why this is such a big deal. In the big scheme of things it really isn't, my kids got along just fine. It didn't ruin our trip or really inconvence us (much). However, I do have a BIG concern about others spying on me and my family. I'd like to think my family and I are very respectful and honest. But to have this happen, a friend "peering" in on us is very disturbing and disappointing. If anything, all it really did was teach my children to be respectful of others privacy and not be a snitch.

We very much appreciate the kind review. That said, we are compelled to respond to the “peering” comment. Yes, Another FULL SHARE OWNER notified us that a rollaway bed was in the unit. (We did not know about the rollaway bed in 2016) Actually anyone entering Tower 1 would notice, as the bed was placed against the glass slider door facing outside. No one was specifically monitoring our condo. We have gone to great expense ( unlike many other owners )to appoint our home to accommodate up to four guests. We advertise as such. Frankly it never occurred to us that we had to specifically request that guests not bring any additional furniture, surfboards etc. into our home. ( We also have a huge couch) The reason is it can chip or nick any cabinets, paint or other furniture. We have now Specifically put this in our letter we send out to guests. I would also respectfully say that the comment about teaching kids not to be a snitch is in itself disrespectful and wholly irresponsible! All people should be taught to feel free to notify responsible party’s of any anomaly’s they feel appropriate. That is in fact what transpired in this case. , Mahalo Cindy

Paradise in Paradise

From the time we opened the door til we ad to leave it was paradise. The condo is very comfortable, well laid out and very well supplied, we wanted for nothing. The staff at the Whaler are friendly, accommodating and very efficient, we now have lots of new friends. The condo owner Cindy was very helpful and friendly, and very pleasant to talk to, and was very prompt to return calls. Thanks for the use of the pool toys, chairs, and water stations, saved lots of money. The location to the beach and pool, a short hop skip and a jump. We enjoyed the beach very much, the waves, the water, Black Rock lots of honu, turtles, and fishies.... Mornings were spent with the frogs and birds, and coffee on the lanai, with the warm sun. We would end the day watching the close of the day beach diver at Black Rock, and wait for the frogs to serenade and entertain us on the lawn. A big shout out to Safeway, Prison Pizza, best on Maui, and they deliver free... Joeys kitchen, Loco Moco, The Poke shop, shrimp tacos, Baskin Robbins, and ABC store. The feeling of ohana, family was well represented at the whaler, and the beaches, and all the activities we were involved with... Great choice in Kaanapali

First time VRBO user and could not be more pleased. My wife and I have been to Kaanapali about 10 times and usually stay in the hotels nearby. This condo was perfect with the full kitchen. The unit on the first floor was ideal as no elevators needed and right by the path to the beach. Actually surprised at how large the unit was. The kitchen and living room are completely separate from the hallway to bathroom and master bedroom and the kids were able to sleep on the murphy bed and have their own space. Big difference from a tiny hotel room. Cindy was clear in communication, very prompt in responses and a pleasure to work with. We will be back next year to stay in 119 once again. Thanks Cindy!

Great Stay

This was by far the best stay we have enjoyed in Maui, the unit is clean, comfortable, and well sized with great amenities. The Whaler property is beautifully maintained and the Staff was always friendly and courteous. This will be the first of many stays for us in this unit. I highly recommend!

Great Family Unit!

I love the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach! The first floor location was wonderful for children and adults alike. Close to the lobby, fish pond, pool and beach it makes a perfect location for family fun and relaxation. The unit is well appointed with comfortable furniture and attractive attire. My son and his family stayed in the unit this year and I hope to make plans to rent it again next year.

Perfect stay

This unit is perfect. Easy access to all amenities. The lanai onto the lawn is perfect. The unit was immaculate. The Murphy bed was very comfortable and very easy to use. The grounds are also very well maintained and the amenities excellent. Loved it and will stay there again.

Senior graduation trip

The condo and complex were excellent. We did not want to leave. The only slight inconvenience was the elevator noise in the bedroom but white noise really helped with that.

Home away from home.

This property had everything we needed for a family of four, and then some. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, and more. The location is conveniently located within the Whaler property–just steps away from the front desk, pool, and beach. The ground floor, walk-out patio to the grass and walking path were great for the kids. We found the property was very clean with plenty of room for the four of us. Communication was prompt and helpful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Convenient and well maintained ground floor unit

The owners were excellent communicators. We’ve stayed at the Whaler many times and this is now our favorite unit!

The location of the Whaler is only 2 miles from Lahaina. There are so many restaurants if you do not want to leave the resort area. I love the flowers, birds, ocean, blue sky and the tropical feeling of being on this wonderful island in paradise. This is a very romantic destination for a wedding or honeymoon!

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The Whaler is right on the ocean and the back of the complex is on the Kaanapali golf course. It does not get any better than that. Right next door is Whalers village with shopping, bars and restaurants. The Sheraton is two properties away with GREAT snorkeling at the famous Black Rock. Whale season is the end of November to the beginning of April and that is something special to view.
