Oceanfront rental

It was just great! Right on the ocean- we watched the surfers each morning. Just the right size for 2 people- 1 bedroom/1 bath. Plenty big enough kitchen. Cute little patio. Two (very small) complaints- water didn't stay hot enough for a whole hot tub full. But still nice. And there was not enough light in bedroom to read by. But all in all, delightful property and would stay here again!

Good memories

Reviewer Comments: My mom, sister and I had stayed at this complex often for the past 26 yrs and some of the stays were in #17, which was “Helen’s condo).. always a lovely place. This November when I walked in, it looked very much the same but also had not been taken care of. Peeling paint on the slider areas and windows, tape on the sliders, a really worn out sisal rug leading to balcony. Stains in the couch cushions etc. Another issue was no instructions for operating the tvs. Kevin came over and fixed/explained operation but next day could not get l. r. set to work. The view and easy walk in to the unit is a major good feature! The unit was well equipped and comfortable. The staff at Stubbs was wonderful and efficient. A nice welcome basket was appreciated. One drawback that Stubbs could not control was the renovation going on next door. Pretty constant drilling and hammering was not very peaceful! The unit had been cleaned well etc. it was a great visit but appearance and maintenance disappointing. Would recommend to friends with caveat of appearance.

A couple of concerns: Both sliding doors, one to the balcony oceanfront and the balcony off the master bedroom Do Not Lock. We had hiking sticks that we placed for security. The place was comfortable and clean for the most part. The couch is really soiled and should be replaced. The sliding door to the deck could also use some attention. The requisite meeting with the community ambassador was unpleasant. The message we took away from the meeting was "we don't really want you here and we don't trust you."

The views are spectacular and to watch the clouds over the ocean and storms move in is so magical!. We love the close access to the beach and the pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean. Stubbs is very helpful and helps with any needs. It's a great home away from home and we look forward to our next visit. We wish were still there and walking on the beach as we came home to Utah to snow!!!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unfortunately, the condo association was performing maintenance on piping, etc, which required us to use a porto-potty in the garage for 3 days. And yes, I understand this was thru no fault of the Stubbs rental company. They were apologetic and gave us a partial refund of our payments, so they DID try to help out. Our unit needed a serious deep cleaning, as it was starting to look rather worn, considering the $$$ paid for the unit. Best of all was the ocean view, with the amenities of Solana Beach close by. We would rent again from Stubbs, but a different unit.

It would be great to have it back, or a ceiling fan. Two of the small light bulbs above the mirror were burned out. Made it more challenging to put makeup on. If you have any rentals with air conditioning, let me know. It gets rather damp and a little stuffy without it. This is a minor detail, but the hot tub is uncomfortably hot, almost burning. Just an FYI.

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a beautifully appointed condo with a spectaculer view of the Pacific Ocean just outside our Living Room window. We enjoyed the cool ocean breezes and the sound of the breaking waves from our oceanfront balcony. The kitchen was completely stocked with all necessary dishes and untensils. There was an abundant supply of immaculate bed linens and towels. It was a pleasure to stay in this unit. Our only complaints were a "too-soft" king-size mattress, and a non-functional sofa bed with a slipcover full of animal hairs that we suspect to be cat hairs. This was a problem because of allergies. Everything else was clean and neat and quite lovely.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I recently stayed at DMST17. This is my second go around at this property. Upon arrival, management was helpful with the check/in process, providing me with adequate information on how to the get to property, etc. Once I arrived at the property, the view is breathtaking. I had been looking forward to this stay with my family for a year, since our last stay was so pleasant. However, as we were settling in, I started to realize certain things about this property, namely it was just plain dirty. There were ants, a dirty floor mat in the shower, pistachio shells on the floor in the living room from prior guests, appliances were sticky with a film on them and closet doors that were off the tracks and would not open. One was just broken. Two of the three vanity lights were burnt out as well. I have a toddler who still likes to crawl around, so it even made matters worst. Upon noticing everything around us, we started by taking down the bed and washing everything, because who knows when the last time was that they were washed. My wife then tried to vacuum, but the vacuum canister was full and had to be emptied. Even after emptying it, the vacuum still did not work. After spending several hours wiping, washing and cleaning, we finally settled in. We tried to hang some towels in the bathroom, but one of the bath hooks was broken, and fell off. There was just a dirty feeling whenever we came home to our property. After all our cleaning, we decided to just stay and accept it, rather have to make other accommodations. Upon checkout, I mentioned the problems I had with the cleanliness of the property to management, and was met with a surprising remark of, yeah, it's that time of the year. Am I supposed to assume the rentals get cleaned once a year, and August is the dirty time? I plan to come back to the San Diego area again, but I can honestly say I will do further research, for a vacation rental company. I did recommend Dave Stubbs to the Donnelly family

View from the front room and balcony was excellent; my wife enjoyed watching the ocean surf and it was refreshing to hear the soft roar of the ocean. We could walk to the bus stop which took us to Torrey Pines. Amenities of the unit were very good. I would recommend this unit to my friends.

Great Fall Escape in Sunny Solana Beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent a wonderful week at Sea La Vie in beautiful Solana Beach/Del Mar. It was a return to our favorite Southern California region, having lived in Poway for seven years previously. The location was ideal with easy access to Del Mar, Encinitas, La Jolla, Interstate 5, and all the other wonderful places in the San Diego area. The condo overlooked Solana Beach with a location where daily from sunup to sundown, surfers filled the sea and dogs from nearby dog beach chased one another in and out of the waves. The condo (with covered parking) was very accessible from Via de la Valle, and also had a beautiful pool, hot tub and easy access to the beach. The condo was fully furnished, including beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys (if you have kiddos) and anything else needed for a great day at the beach. We like to cook, and enjoyed all the kitchen amenities. There were a couple of cabinets that needed a little work on the latches and a sliding screen door that kept jumping its track, but the view and the attached balcony made those small flaws easy to overlook. Ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room helped on the warmer days, so beware that there is no AC if you there when heat is expected. The location did provide some great ocean breezes. Even though some of the condo felt a little dated, it was clean, the initial supply of paper towels, etc., was sufficient for the week and free access to the complex's laundry was a nice added benefit. It was also nice knowing the management team was just up the street should we have any special issues (which we did not!) Sea La Vie was a wonderful escape in a beautiful location!

Otherwise the deferred maintenance - tired furniture, broken kitchen faucet and declining refrigerator and dishwasher; old bed and stained bed linens; broken shutters and patio door; dirty rugs and smelly pillows; falling towel and shower curtain rods - not to mention loud upstairs tenants and their barking dog - made this a less than relaxing vacation experience.

Beautiful stay

This property was absolutely fabulous. It is very thoughtfully put together. I enjoyed the master bedroom and my 23 year old slept comfortably on the blow up bed. Plenty of pillows and blankets to be really cozy. The pool and jacuzzi were very clean - and very close to this unit. But the best part was the ocean. Sometimes we chose to sit on the balcony to enjoy the cool air, and other times we sat inside. Either way, we were able to enjoy the waves, clouds, birds and surfers :) The sound of the waves were wonderful to fall asleep to. Planning on using this rental again!

Exceeded my expectations

Walking into the unit to the ocean views was a literal thrill! I spent hours sitting at the windows watching the surfers, dolphins, sea lions, pelicans and sea gulls. At this time of year there was much coastal fog, known as "the marine layer", but that didn't stop me from joining the other beach walkers and dogs. The unit was cute and clean. Great location! The real estate management company, Stubbs, was easy to work with and always helpful!
