Truman Annex Best Location in Town

We stick to a Saturday check in during the in season months (Jan-April)

Greetings from Paradise, where the temperature is 82 degrees, water temperature 80, and the wind SE at 10, just enough breeze to blow sand in my margarita.

'Margarita Villas' are located in historic Old Town in a beautiful, very private gated compound that has won awards as the best development in Florida. (And yes it does have a blender).

It’s just off Duval Street, with its bustling shops and nightlife; yet quiet and private. Fort Zachary Taylor on the south side of the property has one of our most picturesque beaches located among the tall whispering pines of the uplands; the view of the reef and the turquoise waters is magnificent.

The heated pool is conveniently located nearby so you are never far from a refreshing dip or just 'conching out' in the sun.

There are two bedrooms and one baths; the master bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, the other, two twins. French doors in the living room open onto the garden deck for outdoor dining or to catch the tropical breezes. Outdoor porch furniture on the deck.

The kitchen is completely equipped (including the mandatory BLENDER).

Fully air-conditioned, all rooms have tropical ceiling fans and all linens are provided. There is off street parking for one car.

This property was everything our family needed for a lovely stay in Key West. Wonderful location and the hosts were super nice with great communication and very responsive in bringing a few more towels that were needed. They even brought us a welcome pie! Thanks again for a great stay!

We loved Casa Tropico. The property was awesome. We loved the outdoor patio for morning tea. The location is perfect for walkability to Duval Street, Truman Little White House, Mallory Square, Southernmost buoy, Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, Blue Heaven, and much more. The host family is great!

Great Value for Our Christmas Stay

This VRBO is ideal for a family or girls’ getaway. The property makes you feel at home, we enjoyed starting our mornings with coffee on the rear deck. The home/area is quiet and in walking distance to museums, Duval St., the pier, and the state park. WIFI was reliable, water pressure was strong – loved the convenience of network TV when we wanted to stay in. Chairs, sofas, and beds were comfortable and in good condition. Thoughtful of the owner to provide little puzzles for kids, and we loved the pool. Mike's dad went above and beyond on our last day - Thank you! A

This is a great place

We stayed at this condo for 7 nights the condo was clean and well maintained. The beds are comfy and there was plenty of towels The location is great with a pool just a short walk away out the back gate, The condo is about middle of and 2 blocks from Duval st. where you will find bars, restaurants and shopping, etc. and close to beaches and state park . Communication with the family owned renters was easy and all my questions were answered, The owner called to see if we need anything the day before arrival which was great. I would highly recommend this rental and would think that all this families rentals are as nice. We will be back soon to stay again.

Best Location

This place is within walking distance to all the activities. There is a nice pool onsite, secure gated parking for one vehicle, washer/dryer and a patio. We saw chickens with baby chicks and iguanas on our walks. We took our bikes out to Fort Zachary state park to visit the fort and swim. Walked out every night to a different restaurant. We fixed breakfast at the condo. We also kept cold drinks and sandwich fixings so we could splurge a little more for dinners. Location is everything for this place!!!

Location, location, location.

Owner Mike was very easy to work with and was nice enough to let us check in a little early. This rental is in perfect location to enjoy Duval Street and surrounding areas. Place could use some updates and modernization. Mattresses were ok. Pictures online are a little deceptive as they show upstairs and downstairs units even though you are only renting one of them. Laundry facility is outside on back deck which was strange. We could walk to everywhere we wanted to go or find an Uber easily. Quiet neighborhood and nice pool close by.

Close to Duval St

This place was perfect for our family of four! It was close to Duval St. It was nice a quiet. We enjoyed the pool especially since the weather was extremely hot. The only downfall was that the light in the kitchen went out and we were short on toilet paper and neither the bulb nor the toilet paper were replaced. I can say the contact person always replied to my messages. The person stated they have been having issues the housekeeper. Least to was non of that ruined our vacation. Have a washer and dryer was very convenient. Overall good place for our family of 4.

Great location and owner

We were greeted at the airport by the owner who shuttled us over and gave a quick tour of the condo. He left his business card in case we needed anything during our stay. We then enjoyed a peaceful week in paradise. The condo was perfect for two people. We had everything we needed for a week long stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Great condo Needs some minor repairs but being so close to everything (duval st, fort Zachary beach. basically right in the middle of it all) Owner/manager very helpful with area attractions also picked us up at airport when we arrived. He also brought us a key lime pie during our stay and asked how our vacation was going Great place to stay Thanks Tevis for the wonderful vacation

Prefect location

Condo was perfect. 2 blocks from duval street. Walking distance to everything. Condo was super clean. We loved the private back porch. Quiet clean neighborhood. Nice kitchen which was great since we love to cook. 10/10 recommend I would stay there again when we go back.

Great location

Place was located right near Duval where everything happening. It was clean but needs some TLC - door to backyard kept getting stuck and the lighting in dining room has wires coming out. Rooms good. - beds okay - had a good time and owner was easy to contact and anawer questions.

Senior Trip

We have a blast...this cozy stay was perfect for us and the best location!!!!! We opted for a golf cart for the week, which was great and fun...Pirate Golf Cart Rentals is just a short walk away and they were super friendly. The beds here are to die for here, best sleep we've all had!!! Would recommend!!!

Best Location!

Tevis called about 3 days before our arrival to see if we needed to be picked up from the airport. We were driving in so we didn't need to be picked up. Tevis gave us several ideas of things to do and see on our drive down. The day after our arrival, he stopped by to introduce himself and bring us a Key Lime pie. It was delicious! The apartment was fantastic! We had everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of towels in the bathroom, hangers in the closets and our own washer and dryer. The pool was nice but we only spent a couple of hours there, there were too many other things to do in Key West. We walked everywhere (we did drive to Publix for groceries). The Hemingway Home, Coast Guard Museum, Truman Waterfront Park, Mallory Square and Duvall Street are all easily within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Tevis! We appreciate your hospitality.

PERFECT... Wonderful Stay

We had such great time, perfect location & very nice condo for us. Rented bikes & went everywhere exploring Key West... no need for car. Enjoyed morning coffee on the outside deck, beautiful. Really enjoyed pool time & met lots of nice people there. Our host Tevis was especially great w/ lots of Key West info & history. Will be back😃🙏. Thank you Tevis.

Perfect Location

Owner picked us up and took us back to the airport way above and beyond what we have ever experienced with VRBO. Unit was close to Duvall and we got our exercise walking to the beach each day! Don't forget water shoes for Ft. Zachary Taylor Beach! Would definitely stay here again!

50’s girls trip

Tevis met us at the airport. Don’t bring too much luggage it might not fit in his car! There were 4 of us, 2 had to catch an Uber. Super nice man though! Accommodations were good. Very responsive to our needs. Perfect location!!!! 2 blocks from the best sunset view on the island. 2 blocks from shops, food, anything you want.

Best Christmas week!

Tevis met us at the airport and personally gave us a tour through town on the way to the apartment. He gave history and delightful stories that helped us find our way around the island and more deeply experience the Key West culture. He is a highly experienced host and is invested in his wonderful community there! The apartment is located just a few blocks from the buzzing Duvall Street where all of the shopping and eateries are located. It is located in the Truman Annex- safe, quiet and picturesque. Our teens all had a rented bike to explore the island. They rented scooters one day to run around as well. We easily accessed the warm beaches - Higgs was our fave -with 2 chairs and an umbrella for $20. Due to COVID we tended to get take-out. Mr Zs pizza, the Seafood Market (they even had a key lime pie to go), the Courthouse Deli, The Dirty Pig BBQ, Two Friends Cafe, Sloppy Joes, Southern Most Point Bar and food places were excellent! Coffee at Cuban Coffee Queen and Key West coffee. We even loitered outside The Green Parrot on several nights to enjoy the music and eat frozen custard - again and again at the deli!! Got a million pictures of the sunsets at Mallory and Fort Zachary. The apartments: he allowed us to rent the upstairs last minute- which was PERFECT! - were well appointed, clean, and there are literally four patios to enjoy coffee and meals outdoors! We wholeheartedly recommend this home in Old Town Key West!! We’ll be back!

My name is Michael Wernicoff. I grew up in Ocean City, NJ windsurfing the beaches and sailing the back bays. In 1977, when I was 10 years old, we loaded up our car and with our Hobie Cat sailboat in tow; we set off for our first family trip to the Florida Keys.

The warm breeze and the turquoise waters brought us back every school vacation. First, we rented a small house for a week, The next year a condo for two weeks. A few years later we bought our first home which we rented out between stays ... and Vacation Rentals in Key West was born.

After college I got a 'real job', but warm waters and balmy breezes were calling, so I set off to teach windsurfing. First, in Key West, at Smathers Beach then in the Turks and Caicos Islands, St. Lucia and Mexico. Eventually moving back to Key West. Now we have two little girls who love the emerald waters as much as we do.

When the lovely gated community in the Truman Annex was being built, we knew that it was going to be the best rental location in town and we were right! We now have a wonderful selection of vacation homes and condos to rent, so take a look.

I would love the opportunity to help create a great vacation experience for you and your family, and to share with you, the Key West that my family and I fell in love with when I was ten and continue to enjoy today.
