It was okay but not near as nice as last stay there , different condo . But no pool closures , quieter . The parking is terrible . I travel with a handicap friend and had to drop her off and then hunt for parking usually outside gate because I can walk , rental car received terrible scratches while parked !

Awesome unit

Awesome spot close to pretty much all you can ask for when you want to have an awesome vacation (restaurant, beaches, shops, etc.) Moreover, the resort has two different pools and the unit is basically right beside both of them.

Nice condo, convenient location

I really enjoyed this property and the location of the condo complex. It is about 10 minutes drive south of Kailua Village. Pros: comfortable, clean unit. Free parking, mostly available. Very nice pools — One saltwater on the ocean’s edge. Cons: self check-in with no staff on site (i was traveling alone, so I would have welcomed staff — available by phone only). Ocean view was peak-a-view at best, some of the photos are out of date: floors have been updated and the bathtub removed (but shower is nice), no dining on site (but a convenient store for essentials fronts the property). Biggest annoyance was weekly water shut offs with only short notice (it fell on my check out day so I had to vacate the condo very early in the morning). Also, I had asked if there were beach chairs, umbrellas etc. I was told no because the management company is concerned about liability. So before I checked in I had purchased some items to use while I was there, only to find that there were indeed beach chairs and an umbrella. I would rather sign a hold-harmless agreement than be told that there is nothing available for me to use and have a needless expense. Bottom line, I would stay at this property again if not traveling alone, but I would choose a unit with a better view.

Wonderful, calm oasis in paradise!

From the time we booked through to checkout, communication with the booking management team was excellent. The address is Ali’i Drive, but the complex is set well back and you would never know you were close to a busy road. Check-in was a breeze, the condo is really well-stocked and has ample cooking utensils, cutlery & dishes etc. even for people who don’t want to dine out. The covered patio has a view of the ocean and grounds, the communal barbecue area is well-lit, two pools and the sandy “beach” area immaculately maintained, there are ample outdoor shaded areas to socialize, and there is a very calm/quiet atmosphere about the entire complex. A perfect spot for people seeking a calm oasis, and for families with young children; perhaps not so much for people who vacation in ‘party hardy’ mode! Outstanding property management and communication, as well. The condo is 1.3 miles from the ‘downtown’ area with shops, restaurants, etc.; a trolley service runs along the length of Ali’i would make it quite do-able to stay without a vehicle. and easily get to restaurants and shops. The ONLY drawback for us was that we like to walk everywhere, but the only way to walk to the ‘downtown’ area is on a narrow walking lane marked on the busy road, and that didn’t feel safe to us.

Excellent location, comfortable quiet setting.

Loved staying at Casa De Emdeko, convenient to downtown Kona and short drive to our favorite beaches and snorkeling spots. The condo was clean and had everything we needed.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I had a very pleasant stay here at casa de emdeko 212. We ended up staying 14 nights here. Everything we needed was supplied from kitchen accessories to the bathroom towels and hand soap. The unit was very tidy and we ran into no problems with it. The clothes washer and dryer was nice to have in unit. The large tv and wi-fi came in handy as well. The central A/C was very welcome for those hot days we had. From the lanai we had a good view to the ocean. We used the ocean side salt water pool many times during our stay, was very relaxing. In general, the surrounding property and "beach" area were very well maintained and clean. Being only 1.5 miles or so from downtown Kona, everything was close by that we needed, even a couple nice beaches too. The included beach chairs and cooler was used many times! Was nice to have those in the unit too. Was contacted by kona coast vacations on arrival asking if we had any issues, fortunately we didn't. Overall, it was a great stay for us, sad it had to end!

This was our first time staying in Kona, and staying at Casa de Emdeko unit 212 helped to make it a relaxing and magical visit. We woke early each morning to greet the day, spending one morning out by the saltwater pool to meet the sunrise. We were a few miles from town, but only went into town a couple of times, spending most of our time on the beaches of Waimea. We didn't mind the drive at all, knowing we were returning to our peaceful unit. It was wonderfully air conditioned so we were comfortable during our entire stay and the unit was equipped with everything we could have needed. We cooked at least 1 of our meals in the home daily. We have been spending each year in Hawaii for our anniversary and we will never forget this year's stay at Casa de Emdeko.

Not ideal for us

This particular unit is basically a good unit with relatively decent furniture, a new large hi def TV, good WiFi, and updated kitchen. The complex is quiet at night. There is a salt water pool and a fresh water pool, both of which appear well maintained as are the grounds. However, the very hard mattress on the bed is a huge minus for us. After one night on that mattress, we had to go to Target and pay $100 for a decent memory foam topper to provide us a decent night's sleep. The bedroom is on the front of the unit with windows facing the common walkway along which are lights that stay on all night. There are no drapes to close so the bedroom is never dark. If the owner would add a memory foam topper for the mattress and drapes to block the light, that would go a long way toward solving these two problems. The complex is located a little over a mile from downtown Kailua-Kona - a walkable distance but you have to walk on the side of a fairly busy Alii Drive where there are no sidewalks - not a pleasant experience. Parking at the complex is not convenient. You have to park about 100 feet or more from the unit which is on the second floor. If you cannot negotiate stairs, this unit is not for you. There is an elevator that takes you to the second floor walkway, but it's at the front of the wing, and once on the second floor walkway, there are 3 sets of 4 steps down that you must use to get to the unit. We chose to walk down the drive way, which you cannot drive on, to the stairs closer to the unit and walk up to the second floor. In our opinion, the location of Casa de Emdeko, the general layout of the complex, the hard mattress, and 24-7 lights shining in the bedroom window merit the low rating we gave. If you want more privacy, less traffic and beautiful beaches, stay south in Keahou or Captain Cook. We spent a week in Captain Cook and a week at Kapoho near Pahoa and thoroughly enjoyed both. Our week at Casa de Emdeko was by far much less enjoyable.
