This was our fourth stay at Sunrise Villa and until now we had always enjoyed returning. The villa has always been perfect for a family holiday, particularly with the use of the included car. Unfortunately, this visit was very different. The day before travelling we were told the usual car was unavailable and that a replacement would be provided. While we understood this, the vehicle was in poor condition, with the roof lining hanging down and tyres appearing bald, leaving us reluctant to use it much. Three days into our stay, we returned from a trip and found a squashed centipede on the floor. Later, when checking our holiday money, we discovered that more than 1,200 stored in an envelope inside the microwave had disappeared. After searching the villa thoroughly, we checked the doors and found one set of French doors in the dining area unlocked. There were also more crushed centipede remains nearby. Combined with the missing cash, this left us feeling that someone may have entered the villa while we were out. Strangely, iPads, jewellery, headphones and passports were untouched. We contacted the owner and the police and had to travel to Kouklia Police Station to provide a statement and obtain a crime reference number. What disappointed us most was the lack of support afterwards. We received no follow-up and no concern for security. Having stayed here four times, we were disappointed. The incident left us feeling vulnerable and unsafe, and sadly we will not be returning all.
