Hale Pulelehua “The Butterfly House” has an open spacious Kailua feeling inside and out. The large rooms with sliding door walls and windows front and back allow the trade winds to carry the sweet scent of Hawaiian flowers throughout this home.
Take in the enormous fully private beautifully landscaped yard with many native species of the islands such as Heliconia, Ginger, Hibiscus, Plumeria plants and Avocado, Mango, Papaya and Grapefruit trees.

Just a 5 minute stroll to the Kailua beach access that opens up to world famous Kailua Beach. Dr. Beaches best beach in the world!From there you will be able to enjoy the 2.5 miles of white sand and warm blue blue South Pacific waters. The beach and sky is especially colorful both at sunrise and sunset . It’s a great location for relaxing in the sand, swimming, surfing, body boarding, wind and kite surfing and SUP plus many other water activities. Or if you prefer, just relax at Hale Pulelehua and enjoy an early morning breakfast, lunch or dinner out by the pool to start or end the day.

This home is located just 5 minutes from Kailua Town and Akahi park with over 20 restaurants, great stores for shopping for gift items, and a grocery store that is open 24 hrs. Conveniently located just 25 minutes from the famous Pearl Harbor, HNL airport, and only 30 minutes to Waikiki.

The North Shore, home to famous surfing, is only a 45 minute drive.

With 4 bedrooms, this home will easily accommodate up to up to 8 people.

Kailua House

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Scott’s property. House was well equipped with everything we needed. The backyard with the pool was a great spot to relax. Much more relaxing than the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Would stay here again!

Great location, excellent and responsive host. Pool was fantastic, back yard offered a lot of privacy and the kitchen was reasonably well equipped.Come prepared with a lot of slow cooker recipes as the place gets hot mid to late afternoon and you don't want to be doing too much cooking in the house to add to the heat. Would definitely like to go back. Highly recommend

Amazing home in paradise

We had a lovely stay at this home. With 4 bedrooms, a large back yard and pool, there was plenty of room for our family. The home has a beautiful hawaiian feel with its decor, gardens and ponds about the yard.

Great Kailua Vacation Place

Wonderful host and home. Lots of space and huge backyard with big pool and lots of furniture. Beach equipment was there for us to use and 5-7 minute walk to beautiful spot on Kailua beach and a few minute car ride to Kailua town. Very comfortable and family and guests loved it. A perfect place to reset

We stayed a month in Scott's place in Kailua and had the best time. The house is perfect! It has tons of comfortable lounging areas inside and outside, everything you need in the kitchen, the pool is glorious. You can walk to the beach in 5 minutes. The beach turned out to be our favorite. It has little waves to play in and can walk 4 miles one way on the sand. Anyways I fully recommend staying here!

Hawaiian Paradise

This is the second time we have stayed at Scott's Tropical Gardens. Scott is very easy to communicate with and readily replies to any questions or concerns and has much knowledge of all the local places. The house is perfectly located in a quiet area of Kailua just a few minute walk to beautiful Kailua beach. Although the interior is somewhat dated it is decorated in a Hawaiian theme and definitely has the Island vibe. The backyard and pool is the centerpiece of this property where our kids and grandkids spent memorable times enjoying themselves. We will definitely look for this booking first the next time we visit this paradise.

Wonderful time

We stayed for the month of November 2023. Our adult daughters and their spouses joined us along with a 14 month old Grandchild. There was plenty of room for all, house was somewhat dated but absolutely comfortable and clean, the pool was superb, easy walk to the beach using provided wagons/umbrellas/chairs. Scott was an amazing host. We all had a most wonderful time.

Classic Kailua Stay!

Absolutely wonderful stay for our family! Everything we remember about wonderful Kailua! The quaint and quiet town, the refreshing breeze, and the sweet serenity of the simple life! Scott met us and made checkin a breeze. Plenty of fans were provided and used on the warm days. The beach was amazing! The walk to beach does require some attention on a short stretch of road, as Scott advised. A real value for Kailua. One of the most serene experiences of our lives! If only we could afford to buy such house!

Fun in the sun for a month!

This home in Kailua is located in a quiet neighborhood with a large backyard shaded by a huge monkeypod tree. Plenty of comfortable outdoor seating furniture and a wonderfully refreshing swimming pool. Off street parking and plenty of room to spread out with a well equipped kitchen if you like to stay in and prepare your own meals. Washer and dryer make this very convenient. The owner/manager lives in the area and is quick to respond to any questions or issues. Walking distance to one of the best beaches in Hawaii. Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby. We recommend this home and the owner and will book here again!

Relaxing Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay (March 2023) at this beautiful house with a nice, large backyard with pool. We got the feeling that the neighborhood is one of the best in Kailua. A short walk to Kailua beach was our morning, sunrise routine. We loved the house decor and wall landscapes. The kitchen had everything we needed. The teenager, and even we, used the beach chairs and boogie boards a lot. Our host, Scott, was very gracious and responsive to questions. We highly recommend this rental if you’re looking to stay in Kailua. A beautiful, more quiet side of Oahu - Only 25-30 minutes to Waikiki. And there were several good restaurants close by.

Great location with epic back yard - walk to beach

We had a lovely stay at Scott’s house in Kailua. It was spacious and had a huge, private yard with lots of lush flowers and foliage and an amazing & refreshing private swimming pool with pool toys and lounge chairs. The beach path was about 5 mins away and we enjoyed morning walks along the sand. The house was exactly what we needed for our month stay in Oahu (14 days in quarantine). As this is Hawaii, there were lots of insects, mongoose and geckos around. The kitchen was equipped but the appliances and cabinets are older. We didn’t do much cooking as a result. Otherwise, if you are looking for paradise and peace with a private pool, Scott’s home is a gem.

Hawaiian Paradise!

We loved the property! Our family stayed the month of January and would return in a heartbeat. Scott is an attentive host that was readily available with any of our questions or concerns. The home is spacious and open with a true Hawaiian decor, easily accommodating our family with space to spare. The enclosed entry invites you into the home with the calming sound of the koi pond being heard throughout the living area. The home is well equipped with all towels, linens, cooking utensils, etc. for all your needs. The real treasure is the outdoor tropical retreat with a large pool, tables, sitting pods and lots of pool and beach equipment for us to use. We enjoyed watching many spectacular sunrises on beautiful Kailua Beach which is an easy 5 minute walk from Scott's magnificent property. Don't hesitate to reserve this incredible home, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Scott for a wonderful vacation!

Family Vacation 2024

We had a fantastic stay at Butterfly House. The home was exactly as listed. The pool was bigger than expected and very well used. There was lots of pool and beach gear available. There were even beach wagons and coolers. The walk to the beach was easy and the beach was truly the beast on the island. Not busy, clean, great for bobbing, surfing, boarding, fishing or just reading. The location of the house between Kailua town and Kaneohe with easy access to all higways was perfect. Its an easy 25 minute drive from the airport. Our family were very comfortable and loved the charCter of the home. Many had not visited the uslands before and this introduction had them planning their return. Scott our host was friendly and responsive. His welcome tour was thorough and he insisted on helping us pack in our luggage and groceries. We will be back again. A month was too short!

Above and beyond

Scott is an awesome host. His home fit all of our needs and was everything we could have hoped for during our month stay in Hawaii. It was clean, roomy, and had more amenities than we expected. It was close to the beach, and there were chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel equipment and more for us to use. The backyard pool and yard were well maintained and enjoyed daily. We loved our time here and would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Scott, for sharing your beautiful home with us. Aloha!

I LOVED the house!!! It was perfect for our family and friends to relax, recharge and rejuvenate! The house is designed very well. Open floor plan with great energy combining indoor and outdoor living perfectly. Everything felt very tropical and lush. Screens for all the doors and windows so you can just feel and smell fresh air and all the beautiful tropical landscaping. The bedrooms open into the most beautiful backyard with a big swimming pool. Plenty of chairs in the shade or sunshine. Easy to work by the pool with good internet and watching the kids swim. Everything felt very open, spacious, and tropical. Everything we dreamed Hawaii could be! The sound of the waterfall in the coi pond was such a nice touch! I couldn’t ask for a nicer and more responsive host. Scott was great at communicating, answering any question and taking care of things quickly. The house is just a 5 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches. Great shopping and restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive. Parking was easy. Lots of different areas, tables, counters, etc for different people in our group to work, eat, Netflix, etc. We had plenty of bedding, towels and whatever items needed for the beach & pool. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking. The only thing we wanted was to stay longer!

Simply Heaven

Aloha! We spent one glorious month in Kailua. I can't begin to tell you how fantastic it was, and the house was a big reason why. The house is situated on this nice-sized grassy lot surrounded by a fence for total privacy, and the pool is *chef's kiss* perfection. We were in it every day. The house is a 5-7 minute walk to Kailua Beach, a gorgeous beach, simply gorgeous. My family and I probably watched the sun rise at the beach 50% of the mornings we spent in Kailua. The house is a 15-minute walk/5-minute drive to the grocery store. Fantastic. The house itself is comfy and well equipped with plenty of towels, beach towels and beach supplies. There is a nice washing machine and dryer on the premises, which we utilized often. The only thing that felt a bit uncomfortable regarding the house was that it got quite warm inside during the day, but when evening came, it cooled off nicely, and the house is equipped with lots of fans. The town of Kailua is absolutely adorable. We hit up the coffee shops pretty much every day, and there are so many cute local shops (my favorites are Olive and Oliver). My kids loved Island Snow. We enjoyed Maui Brewing Co for dinner a couple times. Scott is a great host, and he was easy to reach and incredibly responsive during our stay. We really appreciated him and all his help. We will definitely stay at this house again. Mahalo, Scott!!

Perfect city and property location

We stayed for 5 weeks and loved the area and the house and the short walk to the Kastle/Kailua beach a beautiful beech. Calm beach with wave set in 2’ range. Loved the back yard and pool area. Owner was on site and available for any needs or questions. Home was open air with lots of windows, doors, and screens to allow great air flow. Would highly recommend and come back.

Loved the place and the location

Honestly, the place was as good as advertised. Amazing location, great host, and very fair price. Wifi was good enough for 3 or 4 people to be in zoom calls. The only thing to know is that the house is located adjacent to the owner's own house, however the backyard and pool and all are private to you, so it's not an inconvenience.

Amazing time in paradise

We stayed here for 6 weeks in August/September 2020, and it was an incredible time. We spent almost all our hours in the backyard, hanging out and swimming and enjoying the scenery. The location was great and super close to a beautiful beach (<5 min walk). Scott was a very nice host and made us feel at home. Thank you Scott! Great WiFi as well if you are working from home during Covid We had to quarantine for 2 weeks when we got to Hawaii, and with the amazing backyard situation and pool, it flew by. We hope to come back soon!

Totally enjoyed our stay at Scott's Butterfly House. Our family voted on where to stay and chose this house. Very clean and spacious. Huge secluded backyard with great landscaping and a great pool. The pool was a hit with most of us, especially the grandchildren. A five minute walk to the 2019 Beach of the Year USA! Centrally located with beautiful drives along the beach to Honolulu, the North Shore, all attractions! The East Shore has the most beautiful beaches. Beautiful downtown Kailua minutes away. Scott was there to greet us and was available for all questions and concerns to help make our visit more enjoyable. We want to thank him for is concern and support when things started going nuts because of the coronavirus. Appreciated it Scott Thanks much!!!

A simple plane ride landed me in the most beautiful paradise. The intense color of the ocean , mountains and tropical flowers and the constant warm trade winds are something I never take for granted and appreciate every day.

Kailua is home, we have the nicest people, plus it's the most beautiful and serene part of Oahu. The two and half mile white sand beach, warm kind waters, the quaint little town of Kailua with many great restaurants and great shopping add to the island splendor..

When it was finally time to buy the family home, we knew we wanted to be very close to the water and be at the quiet end of the beach. It's really a dream come true to live here and such a blessing to have a big tropical yard with pool and lots of gardening space.

Growing up on a farm growing fruit and vegetables was our lifestyle. Gardening in Hawaii is so much fun as everything grows so fast. Papaya fruit can grow from seed to fruiting tree in less than one year. Most crops flower multiple times and fruit many times each year. It's like the Garden of Eden. I feel like I'm living dream... safe and taken care of.

Huge shade tree with swing. A mixture of interesting and exotic plants and flowers in and around the yard and home. Eclectic, tasteful decor and furnishings. This home is not boring or sedate. Everything seems to speak to you of Hawaii and the islands and says relax, enjoy and remember!
