We loved this VRBO. It was the best place weā€™ve ever stayed. We spent most of our time there on the lanai. The only complaints I have is the bedroom nearest the ocean was way too hot for comfortable sleeping even with the fan on. We did figure out that it had its on thermostat but that didnā€™t make a difference. Second complaint is the furniture is super old & not comfortable at all; especially the couch! Get a new couch please!

The area is quiet, the property is well-maintained, and the view of the sunsets from this beautiful unit are breathtaking. It was the perfect location for my husband, me, and our two adult children who were looking for a peaceful vacation, well away from the frenzy of a resort!

Perfect for Whale Watching!

Our stay was for the 3rd week in January 2020 and we had a ring side seat for watching the whales frolicking right outside the condo. The condo was clean, and no signs of cockroaches, which was a relief. The pool was nice, too. Good location for trips to Lahaina and Kapalua. Would definitely re-book.

Short stay away

Just a short break frim everyday life in California. What an amazing property!!! View was spectacular. Home was clean fully decorated and amenities were top notch!ā€™ I did not want to leave. Saw so many turtles but no whales this trip! But i will be back and hopefully stay here at 510 Royal Kahana!!ā€™

Quick Family Trip from Vegas to Maui

This property looks exactly as listed. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a small issue but the management company took care of it right away. We loved it so much, we rebooked for January to whale watch. My only complaint is that the birds leave their calling card on the balcony and in the house, so keep the screen closedšŸ˜‰

Paradise View!

We have stayed in lots of vacation rentals over the years but this unit by far has the most incredible view ! When I booked this vacation my two criteria were oceanfront view and good space. We got both and then some. My husband and I traveled with our three college age daughters . We were all comfortable and loved spending our evenings turtle watching and waiting for another amazing sunset. The only downside was that there is not a swimmable beach due to beach erosion and there is construction going on in and around the building. This just means it will be even better on the next visit. .

Hot Week On Maui

Condo matches the pictures but is very...very dirty. Major bug problem with ant and roach traps through out the entire condo. We counted and found 17 traps. We saw roaches every day. The condo is very dirty....it needs a major over all deep cleaning. I would not stay here again.

The view from the lanai is worth the price alone. Morning coffee watching whales is the best. The condo was 100% as advertised, had everything we needed. The complex is friendly and comfortable. Wish there was beach access without walking around the building or behind the "Do Not Enter" ropes, which everyone did, but that is the only negative. Kahana is my new favorite location. Water is calm. Six excellent beaches within a 10min ride. Black Rock great snorkeling and fun for the kids, Kannapali, Napili Bay very kid friendly and turtles all over, a beautiful small unnamed beach literally a half mile away, Honalua Bay and our new favorite, Slaughterhouse beach, ugly name but absolutely perfect. As a jumping off point to explore the rest of Maui, Kahana is not ideal but doable if you dont mind doing some driving. We put 750 miles on our rental in a week, but if you want to plunk and relax in the local area it is great and probably what we will do when we hopefully are able to come back and rent this condo again. The accommodations were great. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and well-sized living room for our 4 adults staying the week. The lanai was the best. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai every morning and time we returned to the room after a day of sightseeing or snorkeling. Only disappointment was the beach. We were told damage due to recent hurricanes. There is no beach access even though you are directly water front. The view is incredible but plan on driving to the beach. There is access to a beach at the resort next door but not as convenient as having your own. We planned to explore other beaches but would have been nice to have a beach on property for easy access anytime. Also, construction noise at the resort to the other side of the resort is ongoing during the day to repair the beach. Didn't impact us too much since we were away from the room most afternoons, plus the sound of the ocean's crashing waves drowns it out a bit. If it had been directly in front of this report, which it will be soon, I think it would be pretty disruptive. Pool doesn't have a view of the ocean since there is temporary walls up during beach reconstruction. Once the beach is repaired, I can't imagine a better place to stay.

Pros: 10/10 spectacular view worth million dollars 10/10: nice dishwasher and refrigerator are of great help! Plenty of Kleenex. Cons: 7/10 cleanliness: Termite-like insects found on curtain by piano by the dozens. Found lots of wings by the sliding door track. Removed with vacuum cleaner, but they slowly show up. Closet inside bedroom by main entrance should use some clean up. Window screens inside bedroom facing the ocean is rather dusty that needs cleaning. 7/10 comfort. Bedroom by main entrance practically has no noise insulation. You can hear all the giggles and conversations from people walking by, sometimes as late as 2:00am. One of the glass of the window is transparent, so the curtain has to be closed for privacy which does not allow for natural light during the day. The mattress in the bedroom by the window has terrible spring. I wake up really sore joint/muscle every morning. Washer/dryer is very noisy. I'd suggest to install a door by the kitchen to minimize it. 5/10 equipment: bathroom inside the master bedroom by main entrance has a defective toilet which leaks water to the floor after every flush. Air conditioner is rather weak. The one inside bedroom by main entrance doesn't seem to work at all other then just generating noise. 80s Sofa and 80s bedspread are functional but can consider an update to improve overall clean feel. TV signal has tons of snow. I'd suggest to add an inexpensive amplifier to the incoming cable signal before splitting it to different rooms. Internet connection is Stone Age. Speed was measured to be ~500kbps. This might be related to the phone line condition or the twisted pair at the hub. Someone should contact the DSL provider to check it out. The patio fence metal bar seems not very sturdy with signs of rust by the joint area. Someone should inspect mechanical reliability before accident happens.

Do not stay at this property! Go elsewhere!

We stayed at this property from July 15 to July 20 and I would not recommend it. The Royal Kahana Outrigger is a very old property but was clean and decent in the common areas and the employees were friendly. The location was suitable for our stay although there is not much of a beach area at the hotel. There are plenty of places in Maui with a beach and this was not a problem for us. The room was a different story. From the moment we arrived at the unit things looked bad. The bottom of the door was badly damaged and looked very "used." The unit is infested with cockroaches. Not a few but an infestation and it is a known problem because behind the curtain there are 4 or 5 roach motels. I woke up the first night and walked to the kitchen and there were 25 to 30 roaches in the sink and another 10 or so on the countertops. We killed roaches all week in the cabinets, on the stove, in the dishwasher, and in the bathrooms. It was a terrible feeling to have rented this unit for our long-awaited vacation and not enjoy it, feel dirty all week and paid a lot of money to stay here. We killed roaches every day and couldn't use any of the bowls, glasses, utensils, or stocked goods because the roaches had been on it all. We threw the trash out multiple times daily and it did not help. We arrived late and tried to turn on the kitchen lights and they were all out. We turned on the microwave light and it did not work. We had to call maintenance and they responded very quickly. We tried to open the sliding door to the balcony and it was off its tracks and stuck. The curtains were torn in multiple places. The sofa cushions were all worn and the ones over the sleeper sunk down into the couch and were badly worn and dirty. The unit was very used with scratches and marks on the trim and the walls. The unit had carpet in both bedrooms and it felt dirty and needs to be changed to tile. The kitchen was fairly well stocked but all the cookware was old and very used like the rest of the unit. The pictures of this unit were done some time ago or they were doctored because the unit does not look nearly as fresh like the pictures indicate. The unit is large and the size accommodated my family of 4 adults well. The view is fantastic. I simply can not leave a good review based on the above mentioned issues and strongly recommend you don't stay in this unit.
