NEWLY RENOVATED Popular Mauna Kea Condo - Spectacular Panoramic Ocean Views

Welcome to Kumulani at Mauna Kea where the beauty of the Big Island's golden Kohala Coast awaits you. Our spacious condominium is ideal for families and couples, and it offers gorgeous ocean and year-round sunset views. We have recently refurbished and redecorated the unit, adding to the overall comfort and experience for our guests.

Highlights of this condo include:
-Major redecoration includes new cabinetry and countertops in kitchen and bathrooms, new flooring in the common spaces, fold-down (Murphy) bed in den, and new paint (new video is in VRBO review queue; more pictures to come!).
-Quiet and large (1,500+ square feet) top-floor unit overlooking Hapuna Golf Course with immaculate ocean and sunset views from throughout the space
-Two (2) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, and a den with fold-down bed to accommodate up to five (5) guests
-400+ square foot wraparound outdoor lanai, covered and furnished with lounge chairs and dining table and chairs. The lanai furniture has been updated as of January 2025.
-Primary bedroom with walk-in closet, en suite shower and tub.
-A full array of cookware and dishware including: new pots and pans, waffle maker, rice cookers, Fruit Ninja blender, Cuisinart coffee maker, coffee grinder, Bodum pour over, and many other items.
-Washer and dryer.
-Casually elegant Tommy Bahama furniture.

All guests can enjoy the wonderful public areas of both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna hotels and their beaches. In addition, resort privileges are available which means that guests at our condo can enjoy all of the wonders of both of these five-star resorts (more details on the resort costs and amenities can be found below under 'Other Amenities').

The Mauna Kea and the Hapuna hotels feature:

*New spa and fitness center at Hapuna. The new Mauna Kea fitness center and adult pool is open with new spa facilities under construction.

With resort access, guests can enjoy full privileges at both Mauna Kea and Hapuna hotels as if they are hotel guests. Privileges include:
-free reserved parking at the hotels
-beach services including chairs and towels
-golf at hotel guest rate
-tennis at hotel guest rate
-resort signing privileges
-fitness center

The rate for Beach Club privileges is set for 2026 at $150 per day up to 30 days with discounts potentially available for stays beyond 30 days, with exceptions for peak periods. Please note that this fee is in addition to rental fees, and guests contract directly with the hotels for this service. The daily rate is set by the hotel who has set the rate for $150 per day in 2026 except for peak periods (March 21-April 11; November 21-27; and December 19-31) when the rate will be $225 per day.

In addition to providing access to all of the offerings of the hotels, the condominiums at Kumulani enjoy a private amenity center a short walk away which includes:
-Swimming pool
-Deck chairs
-Hot tub, and
-Barbecue (temporarily unavailable)

MAUNA KEA RENOVATION: In mid-April 2024, Mauna Kea commenced a $180 million renovation of the property. As of 10/15/2025, the status is as follows from hotel management:
-There is currently no impact to outdoor facilities such as beach and tennis.
-There is currently no impact to dining facilities.
-The Mauna Kea hotel's remodeled beach tower and remodeled pool and hot tub area have reopened!
-The new, bigger and better Hau Tree kitchen has opened.
-New fitness center and adult pool area between Manta and the Tennis Center is now open. Construction of a new spa behind the Buddha statue and north of Manta restaurant is in process. The spa is not forecasted to be ready spring 2026. The existing spa remains open.
-Mauna Kea Golf Course has reopened with fairways fully replanted, greens fully replanted, green complexes and bunkers reconstructed, and removal of approximately 25 bunkers throughout the course. The layout of the course has not changed.
-Hapuna Golf Course reopens January 1, 2026. The fairways were replanted with paspalum (same as Mauna Kea) starting in spring 2025.

Hawaii remains challenged by a post-COVID labor shortage. Restaurants have had a hard time surviving and thriving. Be sure to book your dining arrangements and rental car well in advance of your stay.
