Summary:

Island Sands is a hidden gem located on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This small 27-unit condominium offers a peaceful retreat with an uncrowded beach. Listen to the waves roll in and feel the powder white sand under your feet as you walk down to the beach, just steps from your back door. The community swimming pool provides a relaxing place to sunbath and take a dip. Close to all local attractions, entertainment, and restaurants... Island Sands is the perfect beach location.



The Space:

The 1 bedroom/1.5 bathroom unit includes: A fully stocked kitchen for preparing meals, a large breakfast bar that seats four, a living room with two queen size sleeper sofas, smart TV, and two sets of glass sliders that lead to the patio. A master bedroom with a king size bed, blackout draperies, smart TV, and half bath. Full size bathroom with shower/tub combination in the hallway. Washer and dryer in unit.

This unit is pet friendly from September 1st to March 31st ONLY with a weight restriction of 25 pounds or less, per the HOA with a pet fee of $250.

Some of the furnishings in the kitchen were worn out, example aged baking pan with rusty spots on it, too dangerous to cook in. The coffeepot did not function properly. Coffee over run every time used, had to stand by it to hold the coffee pot up to the driper. After mgt looked at it and stared it was new. Its just not a good machine, or the coffee pot had been replaced and did not fit properly. None of the cooking pots had fitting lids. The bed mattress had a low spot the size of an oversized Fat man made an indentation in it. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. The other furnishings were fine. The sleeper sofa was great.
Coffee pot ran over with each pot of coffee.
Coffee woukd not drip into the pot, like the pot was not the correct size.
This bak8bg sheet had rusted on the inside and would not wash off.

Beautiful place. Very roomy, clean and well stocked. Idk whatā€™s up with other reviews but 103 was amazing, clean and updated. Couldnā€™t beat it being that nice with a little yard and right on the beach. We will definitely be back!

Sea Oats is so nice. Location is right off the bridge. On the beach. Our experience from start to finish was outstanding. Quick response when we had a question, easy check-in and check-out. Chairs and umbrella on the beach were definitely needed. We had all we needed. I want to come back. Thank you

Family vacay

This was our 2nd stay at Island Sands. It was very convenient being able to walk right out to the beach. No elevators is a big deal for us with 3 kids! The room was very clean and had everything we needed! Kids slept on the pull out couches with no complaints. We love coming here. Everyone is always so friendly and are usually there for the same reasons as us.. less people!! No fighting for a place on the beach or having other families right on top of us. The whole trip was great, we will be back next year!

Perfect Vacation

This was our first time, as a family, taking a beach vacation so It was also our first time renting a condo that was beachfront. This stay was everything we couldā€™ve hoped for. Super clean, easy access to the beach, and the entire place was family friendly. We will be back again. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Good for quick stay

As the title implies, this property is perfect for a quick stay but otherwise lacks basic amenities such a blender. The property is also older and the furniture expresses this. There's also construction set to occur at the building, much of the "face" of the building has scaffolding & some of the building is being supported via beams & air jacks? Likely of course they wouldn't do this if it was "safe" but I can see how some folks would feel uncomfortable.

We loved being able to step out the back door and be literally steps away from the beach. Having chairs and an umbrella included was also a nice perk.

Peaceful

We had a wonderful vacation. The place was quiet. I enjoyed stepping out of the back patio and walking on the beach. Definitely a family place. It was nice to be able to cook in the kitchen and do our laundry when needed. We were also 5 minutes from the Gulfarium.

Great Location and enjoyed stay, but a few hiccups!

The positives: First of all, we loved the location of this condo. Super easy to access beach and pack stuff to and from. No shoes required just a few steps to the boardwalk. Easy with kiddos to travel back and forth for lunch or if we forgot something. Also, the beach service was excellent with providing two chairs and an umbrella and the guys were super nice. The beach was not crowded since the condominium is only three stories and it was family friendly. Parking was easy to get to, steps from the door. The water and the sands was beautiful! The condo was fully stocked with lots of towels, rags, dishes and everything we needed! The negatives: When we arrived the whole condo smelled like rotten seafood/curry. It took us a while to figure out that it was coming from garbage disposal. We had to go to the store buy bleach and garbage disposal cleaner to try to get the smell out. It was awful. It got the smell out somewhat. The wifi never worked and the coffee pot leaked when you poured it.

Our favorite beach

We've stayed at the Island Sands condos several times during the past 12 years. This is our 2nd year on the 1st level and it was nice not climbing the stairs at our age. Miss the balcony view of the gulf, but the convenience of 1st floor access to parking and beach compensated for the loss of view. Condo was clean, except for a few dishes and cups. Kimberly and her staff were great and very attentive to any concerns or needs. We're coming back next year.
