Ocean Escape - Meredith Lodging


Enjoy this unique high bank ocean front cottage and its secluded neighborhood perfect for a quiet getaway. Sweeping ocean views featuring fabulous sunsets will make you want to stay forever. Ocean front deck includes outdoor and covered area for enjoyment in any weather.

This home has stone stairs off the deck leading straight down to the beach. This provides access to miles of beach where guests can venture 5 miles north to the Newport Jetty, 1 mile south to Ona Beach, or continue south all the way to Seal Rock at lower tides. There also is easy beach access nearby at Lost Creek State Park.

We've worked hard to show on the listing that the home's access is via stone steps that don't have a railing. They are very well-constructed and sturdy, but should someone be concerned about them, we've also noted on the listing where the nearest public access point is, too. This place was absolutely perfect for us! The private beach access and views from the home were incredible. It was a simple, comfortable space that made for some beautiful memories, and we would absolutely love to come back!The only thing I’d mention for future guests is that the stairs up to the loft are quite steep, and the path down to the private beach includes steep, uneven rock steps with some brush along the way. It didn’t take away from our enjoyment at all—we truly loved the entire place—but it’s something to be aware of if you have young children, limited mobility, or anyone who may have difficulty navigating steeper terrain. For us, the beach access was absolutely worth it!!

Great views and clean house with amazing beach access! I would point out that sleeping up in the loft will be very difficult for most adults and young children and I ended up sleeping in the living room for my own safety. I would rent the house again for sure.

Great house and view and lovely beach. Beach access is not for anyone who has mobility or balance issues but otherwise a great property and a relaxing stay! Dog friendly.

Peaceful and private getaway

Had a great time with the family here. It was nice to feel secluded from others and be able to enjoy the beach with just a quick climb down the stairway.

The house was delightful. I was disappointed the the stairs were not clearly marked nor was there any kind of railing. We couldn’t get down to the beach. BUT, when we accessed the beach from Lost Creek SP, we finally saw the stairs and where they led. They were very deep so not good for us. But we would rent there again for sure.

The homeowner specifically designed the stairs down to the beach to be as mobility-friendly as possible, with railings and even steps, and to stand out, with giant boulders marking the way. Great rebuilt house. Location was quiet and and tucked back on a private driveway - this really is the exceptional hidden away part. Views were awesome. The private beach access and less populated part of the coast were excellent. We will definitely consider coming back to this one. Great place overall. I always appreciate when these reviews and real about stuff so here goes... There were some ants and a bit of dog hair, but those were not an issue for us. You have to wash the dishes yourself, but again, we don't mind doing that. The deck and steps outside will likely need some work soon. The garbage was not picked up when we came and the top was left open for some crows to spread it around. I cleaned it up, closed it, and put a rock on it. Turning at the driveway can sneak up on you as it's just a house number sign. I got honked at by some impatient folks who had trouble with the idea that I didn't take a right angle turn at 55 mph.

Cozy little cabin on the water with beach access. A little loft nook for whale watching or reading. Close to town for any needs. Peaceful place to getaway.

this house was really great for our stay. it's oceanfront with beach access (seems unique for the area from what we could see during our beach walks). the house is a bit rundown probably, for like a HGTV type standard. but if, like us, you're interested in the house for the other things it offers then you won't be disappointed. it was a comfortable stay! we really enjoyed it. wish we could've brought our dog on our trip, she would've loved this place!

Beautiful View

The home was as advertised. It sits proper above the cliff/steep hill down to the water. The view as spectacular with easy access to the beach. We would rent this home again.

Loved the property. The second bed in the loft is a little small but worked. The rock path to the ocean is steep and difficult to climb. Would be much better to have hand rails. The view is absolutely amazing and quiet but it is a struggle to get down the rocks..

Nice out of town location

Had a nice stay at this location. The beach access was great. Private, and quaint. Road noise was loud, and because its a dog friendly location it did have a bit of a dog smell to the house. Other than that, it was good. Was nice to be out of the town proper, but close enough to necessities.

nice get a way

clean place, a bit dated but thats what i like. excellent quiet location above a clean quiet empty beach...loved it. i do feel some better more sturdy patio furniture would really add to the experience.

Cozy Cliff house

Perfect layout for the space of the home. Everything you would want to have for a beach trip. The views are spectacular. I can’t wait to bring my family again. Absolutely perfect for a family of 4. Kids absolutely loved sleeping in loft.

Perfect solitude

We really enjoyed it. It was a good location, close to Newport but not in town. The beachfront was clean and accessible, and the backyard really is the beach. The deck and sunroom were perfect for whale whatching, as was the loft bedroom. We would stay again! Thanks

Perfect location and wonderful view

My husband and I had a wonderful stay with our two dogs. The house is the last house with no neighbor to one side. The private stone steps down to the beach is wide and solid, much better than the narrow and steep wooden staircase I see around the nearby houses. This place offers a quiet and center view to the waves. We had a very nice and relaxing stay.
