Fully renovated, 3 bedroom, 2 full bath ocean side beach cottage in Salvo, Hatteras Colony, Outer Banks, N.C. Bedrooms: Master - Queen Bed w flat screen Roku TV, 2nd - Queen Bed w flat screen Roku TV, 3rd - Pyramid Bunk with double on bottom and single on top w flat screen Roku TV. Sheets Provided! 2 Full baths: 1st in master w shower, 2nd in hall with tub/shower combo and hose shower head. Updated kitchen with fully loaded inventory. Open concept living/dining room. Living room has a large 55" Roku TV. Books, board games, and throw blankets are there for you to enjoy. Washer/dryer. Enjoy the WiFi, outdoor shower, 5 person hot tub, 2 screened in porches, 2 level sun decks. Walk over the dunes to the beach or drive minutes to the sound side for wind surfing, paddle boarding, jet skiing, etc. Walk 3 blocks to ice cream shop. Linens included (not towels). Keurig and drip coffee makers, toaster, microwave, blender, hand mixer all available for your use.

Huge double lot with private grilling station and picnic table area. Great sandbar right in front of house for those who like to surf!

Hands down our favorite outer banks stay yet. Hosts were lovely, helpful, available. House was well appointed and conveniently located. Lots of extra touches, very thoughtfully maintained and appointed. Hot tub was great! We will definitely be back!

The issues with the ants mentioned in a previous review unfortunately carried over to our stay. The ants were all over the kitchen counters, in the cabinets, and in the dishwasher. I contacted the owner to let her know about the bugs. She was apologetic and left the impression that she was surprised there was an ant issue. She was prompt in calling an exterminator, which was appreciated. I contacted her to let her know the exterminator did come (although on a different day than she told me) and also to let her know the ants were showing up in the kids' bedroom, a bathroom, and were back in the kitchen, along with two dead roaches. She didn't reply and blocked me. I had ants crawling up my arm at one point. Overall, it wasn't the experience we've had in all our years of summers on Hatteras. The positives: perfect location just steps from a beach path; the beach is beautiful and uncrowded; our favorite ice cream shop is a two-minute walk away; and the hot tub is wonderful.

We had such a great stay in this house! The yard is PERFECT for dogs and kids, and there was no dog poop in the yard when we showed up which is a plus. Beautiful screened in porch, although like another review mentioned the floorboards have gaps in them so mosquitos etc can easily get in that way. Didn’t bother us since it hadn’t stormed recently so it wasn’t buggy. The decks are AMAZING and in great shape! Not full of splinters like some of the decks we’ve had in the past. The inside is cute, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Recently updated kitchen. The only two issues we had were ants and the mildew smell. My kids called this rental “The Ant House” because they were EVERYWHERE. We had to keep all food (even dog food) in the fridge, and bleach wipe all surfaces daily. This helped to keep the ants to a minimum, but by no means eradicated them. So. Many. Ants. I know ants are part of the whole beach experience, but I think the house needs an exterminator/pest person. Secondly, we walked into this rental and it was like being hit in the face with smell- terrible heavy mildew smell. I was very surprised only one other review mentioned this issue. We ran the dehumidifier constantly and it helped a little? But not much. When we got home yesterday all of our items (kid’s stuffed animals, blankets, clothing, etc) smelled like mildew. That was the only real issue we had! The house is very cute and close to the beach which was very convenient.

A wonderful getaway

We stated a week at the captains watch. The house was so well laid out for our group of 5. The kitchen is fully stocked which is always nice. The walk to the beach was so short. We had a great time! It was our first time staying in salvo and we were already talking about next year on our way home!

Great Stay for Humans and Canines!

We enjoyed our stay! Great Location!!Thank you for being Pet Friendly. We were able to go Paddle Boarding with our dogs at the near by Sound Side Beach. As well as day visits to Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands!

Family vacation

Location was great, beach 400 steps from the house. Wi-fi was sketchy, in and out. The rain had made virtual swamps of properties and roads which evolved into attack mosquitoes! Bring bug spray! Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dinnerware and cookware. The only problems we had were the primary bathroom toilet not refilling to flush and the dryer screeched so loudly that we brought our wet washed clothes home. All in all, everything was great! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Beach bungalow

Captain's Watch is a delightful beach bungalow directly across the street from the beach and very convenient to beach access. The owners recently updatee the deck, and they provide a well-stocked kitchen. While the bathrooms are small, especially the en suite, having 2 full baths is a plus. The house comes equipped with a dehumidifier. We noticed a slight musty smell upon entering and it dissipated during our two week stay. We appreciated the beach cart and got to know the handy man well as he came to service the hot tub, help with a lock out, and address a water leak. Additional family members could not join us in Salvo. With just the two of us and our dog, we found the house the right size. Five or 6 people would have been tight. If you want quiet, convenience and wase, then Captain's Watch is for you.

Fantastic Find

Our Girls' Beach Week was fabulous. This cottage was so comfy and clean. The outdoor seating and hot tub are a plus. Quick walk to the beach and close to the Tri-villages restaurants and shops. The host family are wonderful to communicate with. We will stay again 💕

Relaxing time away

This property was just the right size for meeting the needs of a small family. The walk to the beach is 5 minutes making it easy to enjoy sunrise on the beach every morning. We enjoyed the added amenities of having a hot tub and screened porch for relaxing.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful time on our OBX trip! Salvo is a nice location and not far from restaurants and shops! Nice streets to take morning or evening strolls! The house was perfect for the two of us and our pup! The hot tub and roof top deck are nice amenities! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need! I would suggest bug spray! The sand fleas are relentless ! The walk over the dunes is hilly and if you have mobility issues that could cause a problem. We had a comfortable and relaxing week! Thanks for allowing us to stay!!

Just what we needed. Very close to the beach access. Just a short drive from all the big attractions, but far enough away that you aren’t surrounded with people. Property owner answered any and all questions and was very responsive.

Nice Little Rental

We enjoyed our stay very much. It is close to the walking path to the beach. The house was stocked with all the things we needed. I loved that there was a TV in every bedroom which was nice because of the littles wanting to watch Disney and they could in their own room! ;) Another thing that was wonderful is the ice cream shop that is right down the road within walking distance for an after dinner treat. The only down side was the screens on the porch that were missing. We couldn't enjoy the porch in the evening because of the mosquitos. Overall, this home was a nice vacation spot.

Relaxing and convenient getaway!

The Captain's Watch was perfect for our getaway with family and friends! We loved the quiet neighborhood with close beach access. Being able to walk to the ice cream shop was a big plus for everyone in our group! This home was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had all the utensils and appliances we needed to cook meals on a few nights. Would highly recommend this host and property.

Early summer getaway.

Friendly host with great communication. Large decks with 2 screened in porches and a covered hot tub made enjoying the outdoors easy, even in unfavorable weather. Home is within close proximity to the beach, food market, and restaurants. The exterior of the house and living/kitchen areas appear recently updated and modern. The kitchen has everything you’d ever need to prepare a family meal. Indoor bathrooms are a bit dated but function properly. Outdoor shower is a big plus! High speed internet works well. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this home to family/friends and I hope to return next year :)

A Very Nice Family Getaway

The property is located in a nice subdivision. We felt very safe walking the dogs at night. The beach is a short walk from the house. It was luxurious to hit the hot tub after a beach day. The screen room kept the bugs out and therefore we were able to enjoy the outdoor breeze while relaxing on the Adirondacks. We enjoyed star gazing on the third level deck! I hope to do this again next season! I thank Donna for her responsiveness and patience. Much appreciated!

Since our children are getting older and their schedules busier, we decided to make our house available for others to enjoy. We love to cook! We hope you enjoy the granite counter tops, large cabinets and cookware. Please feel free to use whatever you need and make yourself at home. We find the mattresses comfortable and cozy. If you need on site help during your stay, our Property Manger is Hatteras Helping Hands. Enjoy, relax, look at the stars...

Location, location, location...says it all. The beach access is right across the street, the large corner lot provides lots of privacy. The house is completely renovated, clean and easy to manage. The kitchen is bright, has storage for your items and everything you need to prepare as many meals as you want. The outdoor shower is great and so is the 5 person hot tub. Walk to ice cream, ride bikes, enjoy the peace and quiet of Salvo. There is no place like it. And the beach....we have never seen it crowded. It's wide and clean. There is lots of room to play, surf, pick shells. From the beach, look for the mile post 42 sign in the dunes and take the path to the left to get back to the cottage. Easy living.

Large corner lot with trees offers lots of privacy. Ocean beach access right across the street. Kitchen has everything you need to make cooking a breeze. The large living room and two screened in porches provides plenty of room to spread out. Central air, WiFi, 4 flat screen TVs and a sky full of stars. All you need is a bottle of wine, your streaming passwords, a HDMI cable and the kid's laptops! There are also restaurants and a little grocery/sandwich shop a few blocks away. There is a new dollar store that offers so much more that your average dollar store. It's definitely worth checking out. Walk to Village Conery! We LOVE Salvo and hope you do too!
