What a wonderful Labor Day weekend we had with our whole family! This house certainly has been well thought out on how to maximize every inch of space! It was unbelievably to have everything we needed between the pool, fence area for the dogs and 6 bedrooms to accommodate our crew! The cottage was reminiscent of the laid back beach homes of the past yet beautifully updated and decorated. It has beautiful views of the ocean from the full front porch and so easy to access the beach Patrick was so accommodating on several of our requests and checked in periodically to ensure everything was ok! We are already talking about making this a tradition and coming again next year! Only thing that would have made it better was to stay a little longer!

Patrick was great to communicate with, always responded in an expedient manner. And texted me on day of arrival to get our ETA to let us know the house was ready! Loved the property! The layout of the main house, with the pool cabana and the room downstairs was perfect for our family. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great week at OKI!

Our family enjoyed our stay! The heated pool was our favorite feature! Such a perfect area for not only evening swims but also game nights under the gazebo. The kitchen had everything we needed for family meals. The home was nicely designed for those wanting a little extra privacy. The host was also great and communicated well during booking, as well as our stay. Thank you for helping our family have a great week!

Loved the layout of this property and the location! The private pool was perfect for the grandkids and for adults! The proximity to the pier was a huge plus. I highly recommend this house for large families!

Location was great! steps away from beach access, Ocean View pier, and Davis canal access. House was really clean, with individually wrapped linens and bath towels. Host was incredibly nice and helpful, with several suggestions of local restaurants and attractions. Definitely helped with this being our first trip to Oak Island. Really hoping to book again next Family trip if available.

Short Beach Trip

This is an excellent place to stay! It is in a great location and the pool was amazing. It’s a short walk to the beach/ fishing pier. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful time!!

The property is beautiful!! Just a few steps to the beach, pool is amazing. Also very welcoming and friendly host!! My family had a blast 10 out 10 would recommend staying here

Great beach house!

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful beach home! Easy beach access, great heated pool, and lots of space for family. Patrick was very attentive and made sure everything was comfortable for us.

Great property!

The property manager was very helpful, provided clear instructions, and the property was exactly as described. We particularly enjoyed the pool -- it was a great spot to hang out off of the beach!

Amazing

This beach house offers everything we need for a great vacation. It’s close to the beach, has a beautiful salt water pool and has 3 separate living quarters so even though you may be with a group you still can have your own sanctuary. Check in and check out are easy , this year the house was even ready early for us which was amazing. This is a great property and we love staying here! Thanks so much !

The house was exceptionally clean and tidy, and had everything we needed. The pool is amazing! Highly recommend this property for anyone that wants to spend quality time at Oak Island. Great location and even met a great neighbor 😄

Summer 2024

This was great property. Easy checkin process, convenient beach access and the pool was great when we tired of the beach. Kitchen was great everything you needed to prepare meals. We are looking forward to next year.

Family gathering in Oak Island

The property was great and as described in the listing - we enjoyed the time with the family with the separate living spaces for the group. The pool was great and gave us a break from the beach while still entertaining the younger kids in our group. Communication with the owner was great and very much appreciated!

Amenities and comfort prioritized

A gem! Clean, well-maintained cottage that has everything you need and want for a family stay of all ages. The sparkling and heated pool was a crowd pleaser. Easy beach access with pier and fabulous restaurant. Island Way, in super- close proximity. Tons of thoughtful extras in kitchen and bathroom. Beautifully decorated along with excellent communication. We will return!

Perfect family place to stay! Extremely clean AND dog friendly!

The layout of the house and rear cottage make for a perfect family retreat affording plenty of room and lots of space to gather for dinner, movies, and games as well as enough individual space for privacy and quiet time. The location is very close to beach access while the private pool and covered gazebo provide refreshing relief from the summer sun. The homeowners thought of everything to make the house inviting and comfortable and the cleanliness of the property and grounds are 5 star. The backyard is fenced with artificial grass (and even a putting green) to ensure your pups stay safe. The outdoor shower is immaculate and keeps the house free of sand. We highly recommend this property and enjoyed our vacation!

Great house with easy beach access and a pool

The main house and cottage were perfect for our group of 9. Easy walk to the beach and coming back to the heated pool everyday was wonderful. The house has 2 full refrigerators, one on the main floor and one near the pool area which was really beneficial. The ice makers were also a huge plus! We could hear and see the ocean from the front deck, and enjoyed the covered patio space around the pool during the day under the hot sun. There were so many good options that we could all enjoy. Communication from Patrick was great. We had a great time and highly recommend Flip Out, Flop Down!

Great location, excellent pool area!

The location was great and very close to Beach access, which was great with the kids! The home is older however, the owners have done a great job at making updates to make it feel more modern while still keeping that beach town feel! We unfortunately, were there the week of hurricane Debby but with the amazing pool area we were able to make the most of it, it was one of the areas that we found most appealing! I feel that the property was definitely as described, and the owners were very responsive to anything that may have came up or that we needed. We felt that the property was well-maintained with a lot of amenities and extras. The only reason for the four star rating on the cleanliness was based around maybe a more in depth clean by Housekeeping between renters. However, the overall feel of the property was definitely clean and we would definitely consider staying again!

A great week with the whole family

We had a great time staying in the Poovey’s house on Oak Island. A great set up for three generations. There is a large master bedroom on the ground floor with an alarmed door to the pool area. Three bedrooms and a large bath on the second level with a very well setup kitchen and a dining area and family area. Then there is a separate two bedroom cottage. it is perfect for a couple of teenagers. It has a great second row location 4 houses from a beach access point and another 200 feet to the Ocean Crest Pier The best part of the house however particularly for the grandkids is the very good sized salt water pool. The kid spent more time in the pool then in the ocean. The pool and the pool area are very well done. A great family gathering space. The owners are great to work with. They are very responsive and helpful. We had a great week in their house.
