This is a nicely remodeled 650 square foot one bedroom apartment in a historic home located in the coveted safe Northwest Sarasota neighborhood. Outside is your small but quaint front porch. Your front door leads directly into a funky well equipped ovenless galley kitchenette with mini-fridge / freezer. Beyond there you will enjoy tropical-chic decor, original artwork, quality furnishings, petite chandelier over comfy king bed and clean vintage En-Suite bathroom. OUT BACK IS YOUR PRIVATE LANAI, HEATED POOL and OUTDOOR SHOWER. All CLOTHING OPTIONAL. Totally private and not shared with anyone.
The vibe in this apartment will either relax or entice you. Alternative lifestyle friendly allows you the freedom to totally be yourself away from your home town. Create some new memories. A short one block stroll will reward you with awesome sunsets at our tiny waterfront park where local neighbors and college students gather at sunset. You will have 24 hour access to your villa apartment. You will have access to Florida beach chairs free to use. Northwest Sarasota is safe and friendly and truly Old Florida. The vegetation is old growth and awesome. Very tropical. Houses are an eclectic mix of modern to over 100 years old and modest to mansion. There are three colleges in the neighborhood, a word class museum, micro-brew pub, and Starbucks is in walking distance. Downtown Main Street is 1.5 miles for excellent restaurants, shopping and night life without fighting traffic. Sarasota is mainly a car reliant city. However, the public bus stop is a two block walk. Taxis and Uber are readily available. SRQ airport is a ten minute drive.

The sugar white sands of Lido Beach (my favorite) is a short 10 minute drive. World famous Siesta beach is a 20 minute drive. 1 block walk to Sarasota Bay.

Host welcoming. Beautiful, safe location. Great restaurants nearby. Be sure to visit Ringling College. Student art on display and some for sale at Ringling Madeby students. Wonderful heated pool and hot tub. Loved outdoor shower. As always had Yoder’s cream pie! Visited Coquina beach on AMI. Great beach! Thanks again Roy!

The house is as advertised. Very private and relaxing property for two people. Excellent location to explore Sarasota or to take long walks. Very convenient to downtown and beaches.

Great for Weekend Stay

Roys place is a cute little get away for a weekend or short stay. The pool and hot tub are wonderful. The kitchen is not set up for a longer stay where cooking would be involved and the bathroom is smallish for two but for a weekend getaway it's a great little spot to unwind!

Great place to stay. Just as advertised. Very accommodating host. Fun patio, pool, and hot tub area. Beautiful, walkable neighborhood. Sunset view over Sarasota Bay right down the block. Quick and easy drive to downtown restaurants, grocery stores, Lido Key Beach, museums, and the airport.

Perfect Getaway

Roy's place was perfect. Just what my husband and I needed for our anniversary getaway. The pool and hot tub were great! We used the pool and outdoor shower every day. Location is a quiet little neighborhood that is convenient to everything. The house is neat and tidy and well kept. The tropical plants around in the back for all the privacy you could want! We stayed the whole week and were very sad to have to leave. 10/10 would absolutely stay again. This place was our own tropical deserted island

Slice of Heaven

Roy’s place is always a nice tropical getaway and Roy is a great host. The pool, hot tub, and walkable neighborhood keep bringing me back. Foodies should know that the kitchen is sparsely supplied (no oven, few spices, few pots and pans, no Saran Wrap etc) so plan on bringing many of your own basics or plan on eating out 😉.

Enjoyed the very private, well equipped casita. Roy was a great and very attentive host right on the property. He even found a place for our bikes. We want to come back but already booked. This is a winner.

Week away

Staying at Roy’s place was just what we needed. We used the hot tub and pool every night. The wine that was left for us on arrival was delicious. Such a nice thing to do. Only suggestion I have is for some kind of bench in the shower so women can shave their legs easier. Other than that one little suggestion Roy’s place is awesome! We would stay here again.

We have stayed on both sides of the property, and you can't go wrong with either one. We loved the very private pool, hot tub, outdoor ambient lighting and the property's excellent location.

Honeymoon retreat

My newlywed and I stayed here for our honeymoon. It was an absolute joy. I could not recommend this place any higher because it had everything we could ever want. We spent most of our time in the pool and hot tub. The inside of the house is very clean and layed out perfectly. Night time is like a wonderland out by the pool. The owner of the house is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. We plan on going back on our anniversary every year.

Best VRBO ever! It is very private , clean and stocked with everything you need! The location is great in quiet little neighborhood. Roy was responsive and helped whenever we needed him. He even gave me a stamp.

A 5-star experience

The rental is beyond charming, perfect for couples on a romantic getaway or anyone looking to relax. I was a solo travel and felt very safe exploring this neighborhood, which is a few blocks from Gulf sunsets and full of homes with interesting architecture. The kitchen is well-equipped and a Publix grocery store is a short drive away. Even though the rental is connected to two other residences, it’s very private, thanks to the clever design (with lots of artsy touches). I never heard the other occupants and felt very comfortable on the clothing-optional patio. I took advantage of the hot tub, pool and outdoor shower almost daily. Roy is a gracious host and responds helpfully and quickly.

Old Florida property

Paradise!!!!

Our stay was absolute paradise! So comfy and relaxing, the lighting is amazing. When i first found the listing, I thought this can't be true...it is, what you see is what you will find. The location is perfect, so close to everything, and a short walk down the street to the most beautiful sunsets. Roy is a pleasure and easy to reach. We can't wait to go back!!! Loved this place, if it's available - book it, better than a 5 Star Hotel !!

Great couples getaway!

Roy isn't kidding about privacy. The pool, hot tub, outdoor shower are wonderful. We stayed for 5 nights and used the private, quiet back yard every day. We will definitely stay again. My only complaint is the mattress isn't very comfortable.

Perfect

We loved our stay at this property! Everything was as described and more. Roy goes above and beyond with his attention to detail. Little touches (soft music playing via Pandora upon entering, the hibiscus flower on the bed, Pink Moscato with 2 wine flutes on the dresser) were so thoughtful. We also loved the pool and hot tub and spent most of our time lounging outside. I was sad to see that the property was already booked for next year during our time off from work. We would definitely stay here again. :)

Nice little oasis

This place was nice. The neighborhood is quiet. The combo of having both a pool and hot tub was a bonus with one exception, sadly :-( The following review is not comprised of criticisms. These were our personal observations and suggestions for a better stay for future guests. The overall cleanliness was good/ok. The bedspread needs to be laundered. It was evident it hadn't been washed in some time. The same applies to the shag carpet in the bedroom. The bathroom floor needed scrubbing and it was disappointing that there was nowhere to put shampoo/soap inside the shower. The toilet will continue making noise for an extended period of time after flushing (a few min, not kidding!) The shower-liner (both inside and outside showers) needs cleaning as there is visible mold on them (mildew smell as well). The outside shower was nice/different. There was no indication however the hot water was actually the right-side knob, not the left. We didn't use the pool too much, as the heater shut off around 7 pm. Upon returning from shopping etc, the water was too cold to swim comfortably. The biggest disappointment for us was the hot tub, sadly. It is well maintained, chemicals, etc but the pressure of the jets (turn knob) is limited and controlled by a screw that was drilled into the fiberglass. The pressure was mediocre at best. We couldn't understand the reason for the limitation (considering the nightly price $$$ of the property). We used the other coffee maker we found in the pantry (w/carafe). The Gen 1 Keurig malfunctioned with every attempt to brew, water spilled out under the Keurig. It also needed a deep cleaning (black flakes when flushing it out multiple times). We went out and purchased filters after buying Keurig cups we couldn't use. Honestly, I would give this place a higher rating with just a few simple fixes. For the nightly rate, we honestly were disappointed with the limitations of the hot tub/pool. We also understand the place is highly sought out on vrbo, so it was no surprise we learned the thermostat was locked. We woke up most nights sweating. We did feel (with the limitations placed on the guests) the price was too steep. This is a lovely property with the potential to be spectacular. The host (Roy) couldn't be nicer. Although we didn't get a chance to meet him, the communication before and after our stay was great!! This a nice private oasis for two!!!

This is a gem of a property in safe, friendly Northwest Sarasota. Old Florida neighborhood with large oak trees dripping in Spanish moss, mature tropical landscaping and water access. So close to beaches and the restaurants, night life and theaters of downtown Sarasota yet feels like a private, tropical oasis. Very safe and friendly.
The unofficial slogan in this neighborhood is "wouldn't want to live anywhere else".
