Comfortable Stay in Good Location

Enjoyed countryside location, parking close to unit, spacious unit with comfortable bedrooms. We gave some feedback to house manager. In particular house instructions need updating to provide better information on appliances and television.

Lovely holiday

We spent a week in July 2026 here . The house was very comfortable . Mairead the owner was very nice and available for any questions . . The decking overlooked the river Bandon . Lovely views of cows in adjoining fields , birds singing and the occasional rabbit dropped by .A treat to be up close with nature . The houses are in a rural location but only 15 minutes drive from kinsale and in close proximity to visitor attractions and sandy beaches . We had our two teenagers with us who also enjoyed the holiday . We hope to return again

Castle Quay homes

An excellent place to stay ,which was our second time at Castle Quay homes The house is very well designed ,very roomy and lovely and bright . its position is lovely looking over the Bandon river and surrounding gorgeous countryside.

A great stsy

We loved our stay at Castle Wuay. Our host was very helpful and attentive. The home was very nice and well stocked to make our trip enjoyable. . We would have loved good directions into Kinsale from the house as google maps sent us all kinds of different ways. Some of theroads were a bit narrow for night driving when you weren’t sure where you were going.

We had a good time ,in a nice house

A very spacious house,with good value ratio The holiday home was a bit hard to find ,even with satmaps, And eventough there where tree bathrooms,you can only use one shower at the time

Very good

Location was very good and the quality of the accommodation was excellent. Another TV separate from main lounge TV which could be used as a game’s station or alternative usage for younger entertainment activities at relaxing times.

A twenty year old property that is showing its age. This property is beautiful situated in a reasonably good location but the furnishings and finishes are dog eared and worn out and the buildings are way behind in maintenance. Our host was properly responsive to a couple of issues (no hot water was available for the first half of our stay). Although the rate was lower than other self-catering properties on our trip, we felt the poor conditions were below par for a VRBO property. Furthermore, the property refused to alter my departure date and refund the cost for a legitimate reason when I made the request more than 30 days prior to my stay - a first in my experience with VRBO. Overall, I do not recommend Holiday Homes.

A spacious and bright house

The spacious house. The cleanliness. Well equipped. The French press. The stunning view. The house Martins. The shower pressure. More little water glasses for kids. The mattress in the bedroom downstairs (but I know that everyone has its own opinion).

Review of accommodation

Spacious house. Plenty of bathrooms. The lady we felt with on site was excellent very helpful with checking in and helping sort out how to work the TV. Blackout blinds. I woke every morning when sun rose and couldn’t get back to sleep. Needs to have better curtains in the bedrooms.

Comfortable modern property spoiled by minor defects

Initial impression spoiled by finding many light bulbs needing replacement! kitchen almost in darkness, inner hall light out, we eventually found a replacement light bulb and fixed it ourselves. Bedside light bulb had to be replaced from another. Property also suffered from what appears now to the ubiquitous loose toilet seat problem: one was positively dangerous. Maireid was very sympathetic and helpful but was hampered by it being a bank holiday weekend. It took two days to fix the bulb problem. Also, wash basin plugs missing: one was eventually found concealed. Maireid's ability to fix was hampered by the fact that they were all different sizes! The oven and microwave were not easy to operate, we eventually gave up trying to make meals and ate out in Bandon. .

Mooi huis, prachtig uitzicht

Het uitzicht op rivier Bandon vanaf het terras is schitterend. Ruim huis, ruime parkeergelegenheid. Algemene staat van onderhoud van de huizen kan zeker beter. Achterstallig onderhoud vooral aan de buitenzijde, wat jammer is want het zijn prachtige huizen. Het kostte moeite (3x contact gezocht) voordat we uiteindelijk op de ochtend van onze arriveerdag de huis en sleutel details ontvingen van de verantwoordelijke persoon.

Nice place. Very pretty view overlooking river. The birds nesting just outside the property, our glorious to watch. Just fast thinking. There was a nice explanation about how they are protected species or purposely not shooed away from the home.Provided cleans and towels, and shampoo and soap and conditioner! There was also instant coffee in the cupboard. Very easy to access the the home and they provided a key fob for the front gate that you could click so you didn’t have to keep putting in the code.Some nice little touches!

Großzügiges Ferienhaus in sehr ruhiger Lage und toller Aussicht direkt am Fluß Bandon. Mit allen wichtigen Sachen ausgestattet, sehr sauber und bequeme Betten!

Castle Quay - A wonderful quiet retreat with stunning views over the Bandon River

This is a wonderful location with excellent facilities a short drive from Kinsale. If you enjoy a quiet location with magnificent views and excellent accommodation this is a location for you. You will need a car, as the site is remote and you will need to bring all your supplies in with you. Repair the potholes on the approach road.
