Perfect for the second year

This year we brought our bicycles and enjoyed riding to the beach and the nature reserve and the little stores and Daddy's Bread.

Comfortable home in lovely South County, RI

We've been renting beach houses in south county for over 13 years for family to come together and visit from NYC and this one has been the best ever. The AC made the house so comfortable in the heat wave when we weren't at the town beach to which a parking pass was conveniently provided. The drive to beach is idyllic, past a nature reserve (which we visited for a low key nature walk), grazing sheep and an honor system bakery, Daddy's Bread. The Parmesan Dill Garlic was delicious. The low deck in the back was great for the little ones and easy grilling with the brand new gas grill the owner graciously upgraded right before our visit. The tall pine trees in back were balm for the city dwellers eyes. The outdoor shower was warm and had a pleasant mat over the wood for your feet. The king bed in the master bedroom was even more comfortable than our king bed at home. The kids room had books and we discovered a 1000 piece cat puzzle that kept us entertained. We aren't tv watchers so the smart tv was perfect for a movie here and there on netflix. We'd definitely rent here again.

Nice size home

Overall, this home was pleasant to stay in. The master bedroom was huge though like the other reviewer said, the double bed is too small for two people to use and the futon is in a room without any doors, right next to the front door. My sister ended up sleeping on the futon instead of the double bed because she and her boyfriend couldn't both fit, and unfortunately we woke her up having coffee in the morning. The air conditioning and large table were great, and the kitchen, although small, was set up nicely for cooking, has a dishwasher, and an extra refrigerator in the garage. What was disappointing was that although the house was neat, the toilet seat in the master bathroom had something crusty on it, and the bathtub and toilet didn't look like they had been thoroughly cleaned. We looked at the other bathrooms and the kitchen, which also didn't look like they had been cleaned-surfaces were crusty and toilets and showers didn't look clean. We ended up purchasing cleaning supplies(there weren't any in the house for wiping down counters or cleaning toilets) and we cleaned the bathrooms and kitchens thoroughly-spending time and our own money when we shouldn't have had to. There also wasn't enough toilet paper, dishwasher soap, or paper towels, which we also had to purchase on our dime. I contacted the owner who said he would contact the cleaning company and get back to us, but we never heard back from him. I am echoing the other reviewer by saying that the grill was filthy and almost unusable, but my husband thoroughly cleaned it and we got it working, although the temperature never got that high and took longer to cook things. The kitchen was lacking in necessary cooking utensils and pans (only can opener was a rusty electric one and there was no lobster pot). The tv had a cable remote, but no cable box, so we used a device we brought with us to watch tv. The beach pass is also for a beach ten minutes away, so that was a bit disappointing considering Charlestown Beach is close by. While bedding was provided, you have to bring towels for EVERYTHING (including washing dishes and drying your hands in the bathroom). All in all, our stay was pleasant enough, but I do feel like the cleaning needs to be addressed, the furniture outside cleaned of the rust, a new grill purchased, additional cooking implements need to be purchased for the kitchen, towels for at least for washing dishes and hands provided, and cable TV provided.

Overall very comfortable for 7 people, some minor maintenance issues

PROS: Clean and bright, well provisioned, short drive to the beach, nice neighborhood. Air conditioning worked great. Convenient garbage pick up. CONS: Would have liked drawers in the secondary bedrooms and more hangers in the closets. There are a few maintenance issues such as broken toilet seat, loose or missing towel bars. Hot water was challenging at times with 7 people. Overall we had a great time and would return to this property. Thanks to Mr Zapiach for offering your home to rent.

Very pleasant stay

Very clean and spacious! Laundry and central air were very nice to have. Would definitely recommend having cable T.V and more comfy outdoor furniture.

The size of the home was sufficient for us but it definitely needs some TLC!

My in-laws live in the same neighborhood and we needed a place to stay for 6 people while we were in town visiting. The description of the home seemed like a good fit for us (said it slept 8). Unfortunately, I would say this home should just say it sleeps 6. My brother in law and his wife had the king bed in the master, my two boys slept on the two twin beds and my husband and I had to share a full size bed, which meant most nights we slept apart. One on one full and one on the futon downstairs. My biggest disappointment was that the owner advertised that he had a grill on the deck for cooking with. We were excited about that because we wouldn't have to eat out as often. The grill was in such disrepair that it was not useable. It needs to be replaced (along with all the rusty furniture on the back deck). We ate out all but one night and used the oven the other night. All in al we ended up spending a lot more money on this trip for food than we anticipated. The second disappointment was how dirty the floors were. Not sure if the owner lives in town and knows exactly what is going on there, but those floors have NEVER been washed. I would really question who has been hired to do the cleaning b/c I wouldn't pay them! Our feet were black within 5 mins of walking on the floors when we got there. We ended up having to wear our flip flops in the house all day, especially after showering, to prevent them from immediately getting filthy. If I had one positive thing to say, it would be there was a washer and dryer on site. We brought our own detergent and we were able to wash our towels and clothes as needed. There was also a second fridge in the garage for storing ice and drinks. That helped. It would have been nice to have had a more pleasant experience, seeing it was so close to family, but unfortunately we will get a B&B next time around. If you aren't worried about overall cleanliness or using the grill, this home is sufficient. (on a side note: saw another post about this...could not figure out how to use the t.v. either...no instructions to be found. "No signal" message was always on no matter what input the t.v. was on.)

Perfect for our family getaway

This house was perfect for our family of 6. We specifically didn't want to be right near the crowded and cramped beach areas and loved the wooded backyard but was still a quick drive to the south Kingstown town beach (pass included w rental ). Clean and extremely well cared for. Would recommend to anyone.
