Mountain Retreat Near Telluride

Situated on Hastings Mesa 25 minutes from Telluride at an elevation of about 9,000 feet, the 52 acre property is rimmed by mountains in the distance with views of North Pole Peak, and Hayden Mountain. From the patio, view Elk and wild turkey as they roam the old growth aspen forest, sage fields and scrub oak. A wood-burning sauna allows guests to detox and sweat out stress. A trail climbs up for 1.5 miles to the properties highest point. There hikers are able to take in views of some of the regions most beloved landmarks. The home itself, though only 1,100 square feet, feels spacious and warm. Perfect property for dogs, we encourage you to bring them to enjoy on hikes throughout the mesa. An amazing alpine greenhouse provide a large assortment of fresh vegetables including lettuce, kale, peppers, tomatoes, artichokes,figs and an assortment of herbs to be used by our guests. Relax inside and enjoy the humid tropical air. The combination of the scenery along with the greenhouse makes for a unique eco retreat that connects you to the land and brings a sense of calm that will leave you invigorated when you leave.

Amazing, secluded mountain view perfectly situated between Ridgeway and Telluride to enjoy the San Juans! We loved the cabin for enjoying mountain views, weather and wildlife while staging for hiking! The owner was responsive and very helpful!

We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. This is an amazing property. We enjoyed hiking the trails around the property, lounging in the hammock while soaking up the breathtaking views, and cooking in the well stocked kitchen. Charles was very responsive and accommodating. Internet and phone worked great, cabin was clean and cozy. Exceeded our expectations

We chose to stay because my boys wanted to be able to fish. Unfortunately, the pond wasn’t stocked and full of algae, which led to more driving to fishing than I had hoped. We loved the sauna and the house was cozy with beautiful views.

Beautiful Property with Amazing Views

This property was absolutely stunning, and the cabin exceeded our expectations. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay somewhere with amazing private views, while also being so close to Telluride!

Our dream home

This is the third time we have stayed here and it did not disappoint. The property is amazing if you want beautiful views and a quiet and tranquil environment. The home is well stocked with what you need for cooking and relaxing. We enjoyed the sauna and hiking around the property. A herd of sheep come to visit to drink from the pond everyday and we have seen deer and eagles! Close to Telluride for a nice day trip or skiing in the winter. Can't wait to return!

Stunning property

Lovely Location

This property had everything we needed for young kids. The location is excellent with gorgeous views, wildflowers everywhere, and lots of wildlife. We saw 4 deer, chipmunks, hummingbirds, and a turkey on the property over 3 days. East to get to Telluride and Ouray from the house.

Wonderful mountain retreat

We loved our stay in Placerville. We wanted to stay away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Telluride as we had our dog with us and wanted to give him space to run around, but be close enough to enjoy Telluride and this was the perfect place to do that. The property was clean and comfortable and the perfect retreat for our family and friends.

Beautiful spot

The views from this property are amazing. This was the primary reason we rented. Cabin is just that and is quite eclectic as are the supporting buildings/attractions. All is a collection of things from many years, it seems. It is all very interesting. We had no hikers pass by and it was very quiet. It was the secluded location that we were after. There was something loose in the attic or roof that was not accessible to remedy. Loud thumping every minute or so at night when winds blew. Since we didn’t get more than three hours of sleep each night, we left after two nights of a three night stay. Nothing was done to resolve or make right that inconvenience. That is a shame.

Amazing Stay!

Our family of 5 enjoyed staying at Charles’ house very much! The land and views are gorgeous, which is an understatement. We tried out the kayak, had a couple campfires with s’mores, enjoyed the sauna and sat on the deck drinking coffee and soaking up the morning sun- it was perfect. The house itself is full of vintage charm. I personally enjoyed playing records albums and dancing with my daughter. The proximity to Telluride, Ridgway and Ouray were pretty good- nice scenic drives that are better with all wheel drive. We liked being away from town, made it feel more like a getaway. The kids were ready to come back to the house early each day because they liked just hanging out. That’s the sign of a great vacation stay!

Beautiful Location

Our stay was wonderful and the cabin was perfect. Just far enough from Telluride to be isolated; however, close enough for a short beautiful drive. The only thing to mention is the online listing did not mention the $100.00 extra fee for a pet. I would definitely stay there again!

Great property

Beautiful property, in middle of nowhere but close to Telluride. We visited in winter, snow on ground and frozen pond. Our dog loved it. First morning there we were visited by a herd of elk on the other side of the pond. Would love to visit again in the summertime. Host Charles couldn't be any better.

Wow!!

What a great place!! The views are amazing plan and simple! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed (no 9x13 pan but we made do with the cast iron). We spent dearly mornings watching the sun rise and enjoying amazing sunsets! We spent some time in the teepee it’s very cool. The sauna was so wonderful and you have views of the pond. Pond was still beautiful even with its low level do to lack of rain. We would stay again for sure!

Vacation paradise

We felt like we were on top of the mountain. We enjoyed the sheep coming through to get a drink at the pond. We happen to be there when it was a full moon. That was really fun. Also can’t wait to go back. Would stay there in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for a pleasant vacation we were in paradise.

Peaceful Paradise
