We are a family of 5 and spend the week in this home. I picked the property mainly because it had excellent ratings for cleanliness. I have to disagree with previous reviews. The house definitely needs a good deep clean. We were not able to use the older shower as it did not drain, had a horrible smell once the water hit the drain (which was filled with hair) and had heavy soap scum build up. The bathrug in the newer bathroom was dirty, the couch had stains. When I opened the dishwasher I thought the previous renter must have forgotten to use detergent because the dishes seemed just rinsed but not washed. After running the dishwasher with premium detergent pods and heaviest setting the dishes were still dirty, we ended up washing everything by hand for the rest of the week. The Keurig had mildew in the water tank. The beds were very narrow, I doubt that they are actually queen size. The mattresses were comfortable, but the comforters had not been washed. The towels and sheets had some stains and didn't feel freshly washed. The outdoor showerhead just spat out a trickle, and the older part of the deck and the stairs were borderline unsafe. We did enjoy the location, the layout of the house (although I cannot imagine it comfortably fitting 8 people) and the view. Check in and check out was easy, there are books to read and games to play. It was a quiet neighborhood and with more TLC and a better cleaner this could be a gem.

House was much smaller than we usually rent, but we made it work. Deck on front and side and front stairs in bad need of repair. Upon arrival refrigerator was not cooling, so we had to put things in the refrigerator downstairs. Fridge eventually cooled with no other issues. Unable to get the TVs in the bedrooms to work (maybe we just weren't smart enough). Great are of beach with very few other people due to location. A little further down the island than we usually like, but nearby grocery/restaurants was nice.

Another lovely stay

We had a great time in Topsail this year, due in no small part to the wonderful accommodations at this property. It’s a great beachfront home, clean and perfectly furnished for a getaway vacation. We stayed here once during the pandemic and jumped at the opportunity when we saw it was available again.

Fun with family

This is our 4th or 5th visit in this home over the past several years. The beds are super comfy, the kitchen is well stocked, and there are great sand toys in the laundry room for all to enjoy. Everything was very clean. Wish we could come more often!

Perfect overall. The location, closeness of the beach, new deck, full kitchen and amenities were great. Beautiful house and i love that its private and the property owner is not through an agency but instead independent. It was perfect all around. Definitely will stay again.

Cute house, as expected

The house was as advertised; right on the beach and fully stocked to make your stay as easy as possible. The only hiccups we had were likely because we came down early due to an early Spring Break and it was still the off season in Topsail so the house probably wasn't quite ready for the season. Everything in the kitchen needed to be cleaned before we could use it as there was a light layer of dust on all utensils, bowls, plates etc, the grill was usable but you had to watch it closely so that it doesn't start a grease fire (it needs to be cleaned) and the batteries on the electronic keypad had died, so we had to reach out to the host to find the keys. But that was the extent of it, all minor and easily overcome. Otherwise the house is fine. You cannot beat the location, its very private, right on the beach. The new back deck is very nice and would be very enjoyable in warmer weather. The owner has made sure that you do not need to bring anything for the bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen (other than food) as it is fully stocked, linens/towels provided and in the event of bad weather there are plenty of games available. While it is small (I wouldn't want to have more than 4 people) the house is well appointed and comfortable. Some TLC/touch-ups are needed (especially the front/side porch that needs to be replaced) but by and large the owners have taken good of it. All said, we would return. Owners were reachable and quick to address any issues, our stay was enjoyable.

Dream House / Dream Location

We have been coming to Topsail for decades, but with aging parents wanted to find an affordable beachfront property that our whole family could enjoy, and boy did we ever! What a wonderful house in a perfect location! The kitchen, bathrooms (and whole house) were clean and nicely outfitted; when we weren't on the beach itself we lived on the new beachfront deck; and being able to walk to bookstores and cafes and ice cream was delightful! Carlyn was such a helpful host! When the internet went down (wire from the street to the house had decayed) Carlyn followed up right away and did not give up until the repairman came. This was especially helpful since one of our adult children needed to work from "home" (the beach house) several days that week, and her access to the internet was not hindered. What a wonderful vacation for all of us! We have found our get-away Dream House in a Dream Location!

Cozy and good location

We really enjoyed the location of this little beach house. The house itself was cute, but we found it a bit off from the listing description. Listing states both bathrooms have been remodeled, along with new kitchen appliances and new grill. One bathroom has been remodeled (and is very nice!), while the other one really needs to be updated. The kitchen appliances were okay, but far from new, aside from the dishwasher. They worked as expected. We had bought food to grill on the grill, but it was very dirty and definitely not new, so we didn’t end up using it at all. Upon arrival, the house was clean-ish. I ended up doing a lot of cleaning before I cooked, as the majority of the dishes and kitchen itself were dirty. The house could use a really good clean and some TLC. The home has a new deck on the ocean side and that is very nice and was a pleasant surprise! The rest of the decking (around the sound side and steps up to the house) is in really rough shape and needs replacing. It didn’t feel very safe. Overall we had a good stay but would have been much happier if the place had just been clean from the get-go.

Perfect Beach Cottage

Great private location in a quieter part of Topsail. Located within walking distance to some restaurants and shops, including Quarter Moon for our morning coffee. The layout of the cottage worked well for us, with 2 bedrooms each on both side of the main living space. We found the home was very clean and included all the necessary items we needed. You can tell the host put a lot of thought into the updates and decorations, which really makes this cottage stand out from others we looked at. Our kids loved the bunk room! We enjoyed having private access to the beach and were overall impressed here. We plan on returning!

Jeff is from California and Carlyn grew up in Venezuela so water has been a big part of both of our lives. We have been in North Carolina for over 3 years now and love it. We are happy to call this beautiful state our home.

We fell in love with this property because of its beachfront location. The property was very dated and needed a LOT of love. We have only owned it for a couple of months but in that time have replaced the floors, appliances, paint, mattresses, toilets and many other items. We hope you will enjoy the labor of love that has been put into this beautiful little beachfront cottage.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, mini golf, skating and the Assembly Museum. If you are a fisherman you can also walk to the pier to fish. It is a 5 minute walk to the Marina where you can access the intercostal waterway. The kitchen in this property is well stocked with pans and dishes for making wonderful meals at home. The nearest grocery store is only about an 8 minute drive. There are also numerous places to buy fresh seafood. Topsail Island is very family friendly. Be sure to visit the sea turtle rescue shelter nearby.
