Centrally located, this charming cabin is the perfect choice for a couple or a get-together with friends.

Step inside this home and you are welcomed by high ceilings, exposed beams and comfortable furnishings. Kick-back in the great room to watch TV with the glow of the gas fireplace providing the perfect amount of ambiance.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to make home-style meals. Gather at the dining table, or take your dinner outdoors. Easy access to the deck is perfect when you are in the mood for a cookout.

Each of the main level bedrooms is decorated with a good night's sleep in mind. They are both furnished with queen beds and TVs.

Upstairs, the loft has a double futon that gives you an additional sleeping space for extra guests. The upper level bedroom is outfitted with a queen bed and TV.

You will love the great outdoor space at Black Bear Retreat! The large lot offers a perfect setting for an afternoon barbecue or a game of horseshoes.

When the sun goes down, the outdoor firepit is the perfect place to relax and gather for an evening of storytelling and stargazing. The soothing outdoor hot tub is an added bonus for a relaxing end to the day.

Drive five to ten minutes to reach favorite Deep Creek Lake restaurants, the movie theater, marinas and a full service market.

Deep Creek Lake State Park is close-by too, when you want to swim at a sandy beach, rent kayaks, hike scenic trails or take the kids to the Discovery Center for nature themed crafts.

Venture a few minutes further to check out Wisp Resort ~ a four season resort with something for every member of your family. Skiing, golf, snow tubing, ziplines, a mountain coaster, ice skating and mountain bike trails are just a few of their offerings. Atop the mountain, white water rafting thrills are waiting for you.

Nice place but needs work

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cabin was a nice place to stay; clean, comfortable, and somewhat secluded. However, several things need attention in the cabin. The fireplace did not work, even though maintenance men came 3 times to fix it. The cable and internet were out of service for more than a day. Only one side of outdoor gas grill worked. Plus the kitchen applicants and appointments are showing their age.

Overall it was good.

Overall, my friends and I had a great experience. Only negative comment is about the hot tub. The hot tub is old, outdated, and small. It takes a long time for the water to heat up. It only fits up to 4 adults.

Home needs some TLC. But for a fishing trip it was great. Love the fire pit!

We loved the rental!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were six of us on our stay and we found Black Bear Retreat to be the perfect size for our group. Although the property is not right on the lake it's a short drive to get there. There were ample grounds to play outdoor games. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. I was pleasantly surprised to find there were air conditioning window units on both the first and second floor. The property was clean when we arrived. I've been renting from Taylor Made for the last several years and their staff is always professional. I was a little puzzled by the parking restriction of three vehicles since the parking area was pretty large and additional vehicles could have easily fit. Overall, this has been my favorite rental to date and we are hoping to return to Black Bear Retreat again next year!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Black Bear retreat allows for comfortable privacy and a quiet place to stay in the woods. It is a cozy cabin but it is now at a point of needing a lot of attention and updating. The hot job needs a lot of work and a good cleaning. Some appliances and TVs should be replaced.

Dated and disappointing

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Booked a 1 week stay for two families with small children (ages 2-4). The booking process was easy and reviews seemed fine but we found this place disappointing. - After checking in through the specified phone number we still had to drive 5 miles out of our way to 'check-in' with the rental office. - We did not have a hot tub key in the welcome booklet as was indicated and after driving to/from the rental office to pick-up the key, we could not open the lock because it was the wrong key. We called the rental office again so they could bring out another key for us. - Once we finally accessed the hot tub (day 5 of the trip), it was not inviting. Although the water was clean, the hot tub itself has a hue of yellow all along the seating area. - One the first night in the house, we attempted to grill dinner and only 1 burner was working. We called maintenance and they arrived the next day & replaced the propane tank which got the second burner to light. - Because we have small children, we planned many meals at home & found on the second night that the oven was not heating up to temperature. We called maintenance and they came the next day to inspect and left a note saying that the oven did get to temperature. After that, the oven was still not working properly along with the electric stovetop burners. One burner (back left) only stayed on maximum hot while others never got to full temperature. - The floors of this place were just absolutely filthy. On the first night, the bottoms of our bare feet were black & if you moved the sofa or chair in the living room, there was debris underneath like it had never been vacuumed. This is not ideal when you have young children playing on the floor. - The fire pit and the yard were great features for the kids in the evening. - The front porch was perfect for the kids to play on when it rained. - The back deck needs some serious powerwashing and structural maintenance.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We arrived at about 4:30 house had pile of trash on the living room floor and had not been cleaned. WATER hose on the deck running wide open ,on the deck not in the hot tub, so we turned it off the back yard was flooded. We want to stay in the first night and cook a steak and get in hot tub. Well we had to leave until the room was cleaned. We returned about 6 pm and the water and ice we brought and put in fridge was gone cleaning crew took it. So we could not even have a cocktail no ice. OK we said we would just get in hot and everything would be just fine, no hot tub was cold. So just gave up on first night and went to bed Well all of the beds were so hard that sleeping on the floor would have been better but it was so dirty we did not try it After first night my wife slept on couch and I tried another bed no luck hard all over We were to check out Wednesday but we decided to leave Tuesday because we could not sleep This was the worst cabin and vacation experience I ever had and we are 51 years old a lot of vacations Hopefully you will make this right with usm

Reviewer Comments: This rental was a last minute couples retreat rental and it was lovely. This rental was worth the money spent. It had just the right space for three couples. There were minor things that could've made it more comfortable such as the hot tub, the temperature of the water was not hot enough (100). But that wasn't a deal breaker. One thing that should be address is the driveway. I would recommend that maybe have it graveled or paved. It was so much mud from the recent snow. We kept tracking it from the car to the house. Our rental truck was a mess to say the least. I am just glad it wasn't my personal car. Also, the kitchen was semi stocked. It was missing a few key items that we normally have in past rentals. May need to do a checklist just to make sure everything is there for future guest. We was missing a mixing bowl, casserole dish, and containers. Again, that wasn't a deal breaker. We made due of what we had. We will definitely be back next year. Hopefully a bigger house with a little more amenities.

However, the kitchen light bulbs went out mid-stay. The trash container located outside was not big enough to store all of the trash bags. The downstairs shower drain did not work properly. The shower water remained in the bathtub, which inconvenienced us and had to all shower upstairs. I was unable to get into the place initially, because the lock box was located across from the front door and not next to it, which was confusing. I waited on maintenance to come to the property to help.
