Private Retreat in New Braunfels near Gruene, Guadalupe River, and Schlitterbahn

The Barndominium is the ultimate vacation rental! It's great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups. It's a very large, rustic/industrial home is great for multifamily use and built for entertaining. It's a very private mini-resort. All the bedrooms are completely separate from one another (no adjacent walls). In fact, the wing with the stairs/loft and bunks are totally separate and can be closed off from the rest of the house (great for a kids wing). With a huge kitchen, island and bar, you have tons of seating. It has 6 TV's, so everyone can relax and watch their own shows. The back porch is great for entertaining both adults and kids. Relax and enjoy the deer coming to feed at the deer feeder, play sand volley ball on the regulation size court, play table tennis, horseshoes, washer games or just relax on the porch swing and watch the sunset. You will have access to 2 acres (fenced) of land where the house is located. This is surrounded by a serene 50 acres (not to be accessed by our guests) of land which makes it very peaceful and private. NO PETS ALLOWED. Sorry!

It's a nice place for family reunions, retreats, weddings, etc. This approx. 5,000 sq ft home is set back off the road in a secluded 2 acre lot surrounded by trees and wildlife. It feels like your miles away in the hill country, but only 1.2 miles from I-35 where there are lots of great restaurants, and attractions. It's only 1.5 miles from the Guadalupe River, 1 mile from Lake Dunlap and 4 miles from Gruene. It can sleep up to 22 people in beds. Nightly rate includes up to 10 guests. After the 10th person, there is a $25 per person per night fee for additional guests up to 22. Venue fees will be applied for 30 or more guests even if they donā€™t stay overnight. We have venue pricing available for larger functions including weddings. We DO NOT ALLOW PETS.

Great hidden home but close to everything, makes you feel like youā€™re in the middle of the woods! Home is very large and lots of space. Would recommend to friends and family! Loved the treat basket and all the games available to play!

We loved the house and property. We fed the deer which the kids loved. There's plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen area is huge. The property manager was GREAT and helpful. I would highly recommend this property for a family gathering and we can't wait to go back.

Plenty of room

We loved everything here...We had kids from 8-15 and they loved the volleyball setup. We adults loved the back porch and the big kitchen and cooking space. We stayed while on a hunting trip and floated the river. Would definitely recommend!

Awesome house for our family getaway!

We traveled from Colorado. Enjoying family for a birthday/ July 4th getaway. House was awesome and we had a great time. We went to Schlitterbahn and floated the comal and went into Gruene - all within 15 minutes of the house. Had a group over to celebrate my birthday and were able to see 4th of July fireworks from the yard. Great yard for groups wanting to visit and play. Lots of games and outdoor activities. I had a problem with the app for entry but the owner was responsive and made sure we got into the house quickly. Would definitely consider staying here again when traveling to the area.

Better than advertised

The Barndominium might be the greatest place to rent in all of New Braunfels. This property was designed for good times, and let me be clear on something... the pictures donā€™t do it justice. It has great open communal spaces, a fantastic porch with ping pong, washers and seating, and a volleyball court out in the yard. Thereā€™s also an awesome little outdoor shower. Perhaps the best part about it is that you are surround by property and foliage that really privatized your experience. The house is also big enough to have additional friends living in or visiting the area over for drinks or dinner. Weā€™ll be renting it again very soon. And the properties managers are extremely attentive, accommodating, informative and sweet. We dealt with a gal named Jule, who answered every question we had very promptly and politely. We will be renting it again in the future.

Property not what pictures showed

We rented the facility for a memorial gathering for my husband. There were complications with the check info, but the owner fixed that. When we arrived it had not been cleaned from last use so we could not set up as planned. The owner sent a cleaning crew and we had to return hours later to do the set up again. The inside of the house was nice but outside was not what pictures showed. Volleyball courts had the plastic liner sticking up and no sand and full of weeds. Around the court was many years old hay or straw that was rotted. The horseshoe pits only had one end and they were overgrown and unusable. The entrance was dangerous especially for elderly as the pavers were the only thing left and no rock around them so they were a tripping hazard. The road off the highway to the building was not kept up. It was a dirt path that was horrible to drive up. The owner knew there was an event there and the parking was not good. The field outside would have allowed for ample parking had it been mowed but it had not been mowed in years according to the amount of dead overgrowth. The owner was kind enough to refund a portion of one days rental for the place not being clean on time. I donā€™t know how a place can be represented by using pictures that are so misrepresenting of whatā€™s actually there.

Barndominium

The Barndominium was the perfect place for me and my friends to stay for our river weekend. It was a short drive to the Comal River/town but still secluded from the hustle and bustle. The place had plenty of room for everyone to spread out so even in a large group we never felt crowded. The backyard had all sorts of games (volleyball, Jenga, ping pong & more) to keep everyone entertained and we would occasionally see families of deer running across the yard! Sitting around the fire pit was our favorite way to end the night. Also, Jule and the management team were quick to respond and very helpful. Overall, a great stay!!

Beautiful home with tons of space! Amazing covered area in the back with plenty of shade and seating. Even though the deer feeder was not operational, we still saw some deer roaming around the property. Only have a few things I can comment on that needed attention.. trash trailer was extremely full, it needed to be picked up. The grass was really high up until the last day of our stay (which is when lawn crew showed up). Satellite on back patio wasnā€™t working, and the bean bag game needs to be replaced. I would recommend staying here and we will look into staying here again next year.

Amazing experience

I had some issues with getting access to the front door and the property manager was so quick to help out! The rental was clean and was perfect for what we needed. I loved the property as a whole inside and out. I would recommend this property for anyone with a larger group of people. Fantastic managers who were quick to respond!

Beautiful Barndominium

We absolutely loved our stay. It was a very spacious house and yard, plenty of room for everyone. There was no internet during our stay, but we had a couple of AT&T guys come to try and fix it over the weekend and it was up and running just before checkout. Not that it's uncommon for the area, but were surprised by the scorpions we had to kill. Overall, it was a very comfortable venue and great for entertaining.

The BEST Weekend

After a full year of not being able to see any friends due to the pandemic, this was the perfect location for us to all meet again as vaccinated humans. Rooms were comfortable, and we were able to reconnect and have a wonderful time together. I highly recommend this rental to anyone with a large group. Our hosts were so kind, and one couple was even able to park their RV on the property with an electric hookup! If you're in the New Braunfels area and need a place that can house a clan, this is the place for you!

Family was looking for a quick getaway during springbreak and found this awesome place, close to Guadalupe River. The house is awesome in a perfect location and all the games it has for you to play in the backyard is fun! The family is definitely going back in the summer.

Great stay

Spacious excellent place for large group. Plenty of activities and fire pit came in handy with the cool weather. Barndominium was very unique and accommodating with nice beds, appliances,etc. Information for stay was very helpful and our contacts were easy to get ahold of when minor issues arose. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Family Vacation

This house was a perfect spot for our family trip. There were 10 of us ranging in age from 11-55. There was always something to do. The rooms were large and there are plenty of bathrooms! The kitchen was perfect for our family meals. The back porch was where we hung out most. Fun time! The management team was very responsive. Thanks!

It was a perfect vacation spot near the Comal River for a large family get-together with enough beds, large kitchen so everyone could eat at same time and relaxing on patio watching deer come up to eat corn while rabbits played in the yard. We will all have many memories of our 2019 family vacation.
