Great location!

Perfect location which gave you the ability to walk to the Ocean Beach downtown area and the ocean. The check in process was very simple. The property managers were easy to get in contact with and were quick to respond. The place could have used a deeper clean (e.g., baseboard, shower window, etc) between stays.

Great place to stay with a few suggestions on cleaning

The place is like the photos. Perfect location to ealk or bike or drive literally everywhere in town..great neighborhood - a real neighborhood. We loved it. Really. Even my next part isn’t negative. Just gotta get it cleaner. Here's my suggestions for us to return- 4 adults need more than 4 bath towels, washing machine was terrible and didn’t clean anything, throw blankets had animal hair feom prior guests all over them, house fans were super old and caked with dirt (we cleaned the best we could), the kitchen table and floors needed cleaning. The house needs newer, clean fans for sure. The ac unit really does cool it down at night but if you're hanging in the day, you may wanna go buy another fan. It's hot in the daytime. But this place is a good little find and we had a lovely vacation

Not our favorite

Unfortunately this was not the best experience we have had staying at VRBO. I will note that our property manager was very responsive and did what they could to help, but unfortunately some things were out of their control and the property management company only wanted to help so much. Upon arrival the home had not been properly cleaned. There was animal hair everywhere and the place smelled of wet dog. We had several issues with ants, silverfish. and other roach-like bugs in the home, although this improved somewhat after they called pest control to come spray. We also noted upon arrival that the bedframe in the main bedroom was broken - the support beam in the center of the bed had collapsed causing the mattress to sag in the middle. Despite the handyman's best efforts, it was not repairable, but the management company did not want to replace the frame so we were left to make do for our stay. The bed as we experienced it was wildly uncomfortable. Our stay in San Diego coincided with one of the wettest winters in recent history, and we experienced an unexpected amount of rain over our 6 week stay. Unfortunately the roof and the windows were not meant to withstand this amount of rain and we experienced several leaks in the ceiling and from the window frames where water seeped into the living spaces. Obviously this was out of management's control and they informed us they would be looking into roof repairs after our departure, but it certainly dampened the experience. Despite the meticulous listing of each item in the house down to the last fork, knife, and spoon, several items in the kitchen were missing, as was the vacuum. The control pad for the oven had been broken and replaced with a part that does not fit properly. We also were uncomfortable with the hole in the wall where the mail slot opens into the living room. From the outside, someone could open the mailslot and reach in or look right into the living space. We had the handyman cover this with cardboard and tape. The location of the home was excellent, we loved being in the neighborhood and walkable to the main streets of Ocean Beach, but the next time we come to stay here we will look for another place.

Met the need

This was a cute little home. We were greeted with a card and a bottle of wine, which I thought was very nice. It had pretty much everything we needed that a house should, there were even beach chairs and an umbrella which we utilized for our day out in the sun. I would say the only thing was that there weren’t any extra garbage bags for the trash and there was only one roll of toilet paper so we needed up having to purchase more from a target down the street. It was pretty dang close to the ocean, we walked there each morning and it was a half mile walk was all. The neighborhood was very friendly and clean. I will say however, it clearly states no a/c so we did bring our own fans as well but it was miserable to sleep. Inside the home was 94 when we arrived. There is a mini cooler vented out of the mail box slot of the home but it’s in the living room and so when in the bedrooms, you cannot feel It at all. We were also there during a heat wave (Labor Day weekend) and locals told us it wasn’t typically like that but that honestly would keep me from staying there again. There needed desperately to be some window units in the bedrooms. Overall, I would recommend to someone if it wasn’t during the summer time but if traveling then, I’d choose something else.

Great location

Overall a great stay! Thank you for sharing your home. No AC in rooms would be the only complaint. There are fans which helped, but the afternoons were hott. We would all be next to the portable AC in the living room. Other than that perfect home for me and my 3 kids. Close to the beach. We stayed 4 nights and had a great time.

Clean and Cozy Property

The property was clean, cozy, and had all we needed for a family of 4 plus our dogs. It’s a charming home, great kitchen and family space. The shower/bath had excellent water pressure too! We were able to walk to Ocean Beach pier, Dog beach was about 7 blocks away but totally doable (little farther then we thought) , and shops were close by. There’s motorized scooters available on many corners near property for a quicker travel. Very quiet neighborhood, however you do hear airplanes flying overhead all day long starting early in the morning. If you are a light sleeper, it may not be for you. Laundry room was easily available behind property so you had to go outside to use it. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Vacation

Overall we had a good experience, it was a great little cottage for our family of 4. We are a family that is used to air-conditioning so it was a little warm at times. They do have 2 fans and a portable AC unit, for us it was not enough. We made it work and we were aware when we booked it that we would not have AC. We were able to walk to Ocean Beach, the neighborhood was quiet. We could see the fireworks at Sea World from the porch. So overall, it's a cute little cottage, clean and good neighborhood. Maybe needs more portable fans. The Property Management company was easy to deal with, helpful and friendly

great little cottage

excellent location within walking distance to beach and shops, friendly neighborhood, easy access to Lyft/Uber. please note it is in direct path of the airport, the planes go right overhead and start EARLY...no sleeping in past 6:30am or so. also no air conditioning in the unit, just a ceiling fan and portable fan are provided...which are somewhat adequate if you have all the windows and front door open on hot days. (a screen door would be nice to have for the front door.)

Dog Friendly area

The home is within walking distance of the dog beach, restaurants with dog friendly patios, and the weather was perfect. We appreciated the bottle of wine! Bring ear plugs; it is in the airport flight path.

Great basecamp for fun, easy adventure.

The property was an excellent basecamp for my first adventures around San Diego. Excellent location with easy access to seemingly everywhere. Friendly neighborhood. Plenty comfortable, and the entire process was pleasant. A couple things to know: 1) Ocean Beach is in the flight path of the nearby airport. Planes start at 6:30am, seven days a week. Don’t plan on sleeping in unless you’ve got pro-class earplugs! 2) The climate is famously mild, but it can get a bit hot & stuffy in the cottage. I would recommend OB and this particular cottage … and happily stay there again.

Great if you don't mind not sleeping due to heat and lots of bugs

The property does not have an a/c. The property management will advise that a space a/c is provided for your comfort - and basically you should be grateful for the antequated unit being provided without being charged extra. I was not aware that expecting to be able to sleep comfortably in a rented unit results in extra charges. The A/C unit is really old and very loud. It is hard to speak without shouting with the unit on. The fans provided are a small table top fan for the guest room and an ancient tower fan that barely works. For the money you pay you will not get the kind of comfort you would reasonably assume. All I was given by property management when this was addressed while on premises and after is there was nothing more they can do. With the profit being made from this property a simple solution is providing adequate updated fans and a/c unit. Bugs are 100% an issue. Ants are everywhere on the property, we sprayed with he provided spray can resulting in hundreds of ants scattered throughout the property. We also killed a centipede in the kitchen. Property management says they have no control over bugs. As they will not take control of what is reasonably expected you have control, control of where you choose to spend your money for a place to stay on vacation. Stay elsewhere.

This was an amazing stay! I could not hope for a better location for the kids. It was within walking distance of the OB pier and Newport Ave. So their was plenty to see and do! Would definitely stay here again! Also neighbors are great and welcoming!

OB Vacation

The house fit our purposes well. Visiting family a half block away. Great location in OB. The description was accurate. We had an instance of a kitchen faucet leaking and contacted Tina, a property manager, who had a new faucet installed that afternoon. Great response. Would stay there again.

Dirty floors unkept landscaping

Stayed here for the weekend for a convention. Went to take out the trash to the trash can as it is listed to and got fussed at by the neighbors. Nothing is marked or made easily accessible. The walkway up to the house needs to be landscaped, the pavement is an accident waiting to happen and there should be more fans available in the house if there is not central heating and air.

Family spring break trip

The location was ideal for our Zoo, Safari Park, Mission Beach day trips. Super close to restaurants and grocery stores. Property Management responsive when I called to find out how to turn on the ceiling fan. The cottage is also in the flight path for all commercial jets between about 6 a.m. and 11 or 12 midnight. So be prepared for that! One thing we never figured out was how to get the TV/Cable to work. The instructions in the house manual didn't line up with the Cox cable remote. Not a huge deal since we were gone all day and were pretty much pooped when we got back to our place and fell asleep. We ended up using Roku or Netflix. One other item was the random little crawling ants in the bathroom, kitchen and bathroom. We encountered a couple of silverfish too. We didn't call the property management so I can't complain since we did not take action and call them. Yes it was annoying and we did have to keep our food in the fridge so the ants wouldn't find any food. The floor is tile and I would highly suggest that the cleaning service mop the floors after they are swept. :). When you walk around barefoot on the tile, the bottoms of your feet get super dirty. Overall, the cottage was nicely priced for the location. Clean, everything was as shown in the pictures. Property Management was very communicative when I emailed with questions prior to our trip.

San Diego is awesome

Ocean Beach is a fun, eclectic area and the beaches are simply beautiful. My kids and I liked being close to them, and getting some local flavor while not having to go in and out of a hotel while staying here. There was an issue with the toilet overflowing from its base while the shower was running; followed by a disappointing discussion of this with the property manager. Other than that we really enjoyed San Diego. How lucky its residents are to live in such a beautiful place!
