Carmel Harmony: Beautiful, upscale home; gorgeous ocean views; 2 min. to beach
Enjoy expansive ocean views and spectacular sunsets from the living area. Look across the ocean at famous Pebble Beach golf course. Walk just two minutes to the white sands of Carmel beach. Or about 5 minutes to the Carmel River Beach. Downtown Carmel with its charming cobblestone streets, courtyards, restaurants and shops is about a 15-20 minute walk along the ocean, on the beach path.
The house was remodeled in 2015 using ideas from the holistic Living Building Challenge program. It was built using sustainably produced and highly efficient materials, which are better for human health, avoiding those on the program’s Red List. It has solar panels, rainwater capture system, gray water system, green driveway, and living roof. The living wall inside adds beauty and keeps the air clean and fresh. The large windows and design details bring the outdoors indoors! The bedrooms and bathrooms are designed to delight and bring about a sense of harmony and well being.
The house is very well located to explore Monterey, Carmel, and areas on Route 1 South. Visit wineries and wine tasting rooms in town and nearby Carmel Valley Village. Rent Ebikes and go down scenic 17-mile drive. Kayak in Monterey Bay to see otters and sea lions. Drive down spectacular Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) to Big Sur for breathtaking views and short walks. Hike the many trails in nearby preserves like Pfieffer, Point Lobos, and Garland. Play golf in nearby world-famous golf courses such as Pebble Beach. It's a great place to stay while attending AT&T Pro-Am (usually last weekend in Jan) or the Concours d'Elegance car show (usually mid-August).

Suparna Vashisht är värd
We are a retired couple who loves the water. Suparna is an avid scuba diver, snorkeler and kayaker. Manish is a golf fanatic. We made weekend trips to Carmel for years, and finally in mid-2012, chanced upon a cottage with gorgeous ocean views. In 2014 we remodeled it for a much needed update. Suparna personally worked with the contractor to make it an eco-friendly house using Living Building Challenge principles. The house is also a Build It Green certified house. Suparna designed the interior selecting eco-friendly, non-toxic materials and hired local artists for custom sinks and other features. We spend a lot of time in this house, and would love to share its magic with other caring families and couples when we are not using it. We can recommend restaurants, water activities, golf courses, hikes and other activities!
Varför värden valde detta boende
It was essential for us that the property be near the beach, have fabulous ocean views, but not be on a crowded street. Our house is on the street that is behind Scenic Rd, which means we have the expansive views of the ocean without the car and pedestrian traffic on Scenic Rd. We can walk to the Carmel beach in 2 minutes and to the Carmel River beach in about 5 minutes. We also wanted to be able to walk to shops and restaurants. It takes us about 15 minutes to walk on the beach path to the part of town that has most of the cafes and restaurants.
Vad som gör detta boende unikt
It is walking distance to the beach and to cafes and restaurants. Our friends who have visited us at the house say that they get a feeling of well being and harmony when they enter the house, and that they sleep very well. We think it is because of the way the house was designed, with non-toxic materials, low footprint, and nature-based features.
