Söt, historisk stuga på Carmel Point

Välkommen till den mysiga, underbara stugan av River Winds, en unik och underbar helhjärtat redwoodstuga designad av den tidiga Kaliforniens arkitekten Julia Morgan! Denna 103-åriga stuga är hjärtat i vår familjs minnen i tre generationer - och snart kommer du också att vara ditt. Gå tillbaka i tiden i detta underbart bevarade, obefläckade hem, verkligen en historisk pärla i gamla Carmel. Öppna balkar, helhjärtade träväggar, många originaldetaljer, en öppen spis i sten, stor solig uteplats, antika möbler och originella oljemålningar i området.

Vi delar gärna denna familjskatt med dig. Vår stuga ligger mitt i en stor trädgård på Carmel Point, bara två kvarter från Carmel Beach och tre från Carmel River Beach. Det är nära till allt - bara en kilometer till Carmel Village, cirka 1/2 mil till Carmel Mission och enkel åtkomst till Hwy 1.

Vi har 3 sovrum: 2 med dubbelsängar som delar ett badrum (badkar / dusch) nerför en liten hall. Det tredje sovrummet är ganska litet och har en hel säng med privat tillgång till ett litet badrum (med dusch) i huvuddelen av huset.

Fullt levererat kök; alla sängkläder tillhandahållna; kabel-TV, DVD-spelare, iPod-spelare, säkert trådlöst internet och allt du behöver för en bekväm vistelse.

Vi hyr mestadels efter vecka eller månad; kortare vistelser på vintern. Om den enkla lugnet från förflutna tider talar till ditt hjärta, kommer du att bli kär i Cottage of River Winds.

We stay every year and it feels like home. It's perfect for our family. The location is great, we have rooms for the kids, the beds are comfortable, and everything we need is there. The home has a lot of history and the interior is so typical Carmel. The owner and property manager are very responsive.The front yard allows for outside seating and the garden is so pretty and spacious. We'd recommend for anyone looking to stay in Carmel.

a special place

This is a historically significant home with modern appliances, much space, a beautiful garden, and a short walk to the ocean. This is our second stay and, if in the future we plan to spend time in Carmel, we'll try for a third.

Garden Paradise

This charming, eclectic cottage with a beautiful garden surrounding the entry. We woke up with the sunrise and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. It is a mile walk into town with easy access to Carmel Beach, only a 5-7 minute walk away, depending on your route. My only caution is that the beds are somewhat soft. My husband and I prefer much firmer beds for our backs. We would rent again. If you like old charming cottages, then this is definitely the place for you.

WE loved this house!

A great mix of the old and the new. 100 year old redwood house with a few quirks you would expect e.g. no heat in the bathroom! And antique bureau drawers that can be tricky to open. But also upgrades to the current times: gas range, tiny little dishwasher and microwave in the sweet galley kitchen. Big washer & dryer. Beautiful garden outside with a lovely patio table perfect for sunny day lunches, of which we enjoyed several. You can watch the birds in the garden while you have your breakfast. Beautiful rugs. Very comfy. It was clean and very inviting and comfortable. If we come back to Carmel, we would definitely see if this lovely spot were available for another stay.

This is an Annual Golf Trip 22 years

This was our third year in Carmel and it is just the greatest place to stay at for the three visits but it seems next year has already been booked by others so we are disappointed to not return for 2025. But for those who have not experienced ‘The Cottage’ it is great.

We stay every year

We love staying here. We can escape the heat back home, enjoy the walks to the beach, sit inside or outside for meals or walk into Carmel for a meal at a restaurant. The beds are comfy, the place has everything you'd need and we have no complaints. We'll be back next year.

Charm, Authenticity, Location!

Loved the cabin! Much better than expected–pictures did not due it justice. Location, just two blocks from the miles-long Carmel boardwalk overlooking the coastline. Can walk downtown and to Carmel and Carmel River beaches. Super easy parking.

Serene & Cozy

Walking through the tranquil garden to the colorful entry set the theme for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed this warm, relaxing cottage during our cool spring getaway. This well loved and preserved home had everything we needed....including beach chairs upon request. Situated in a quiet, charming neighborhood, we enjoyed our walks to the village, beach, and Mission Ranch. Finally, the owner, Krys, was prompt, wonderful and accommodating to our inquiries. We'll definitely return to Carmel, Big Sur...and this sweet cottage!

Wonderful Carmel Cottage

We have enjoyed Cottage of the River Winds during two stays and highly recommend it. It served well for four adults, a toddler, and a baby as the younger generations had their own space slightly separated from the old folks. The large garden around the cottage is beautifully kept, and there is an easy, short walk to the shoreline road. The chance to enjoy a Julia Morgan design makes the cottage extra special. Both the host and the caretaker are very responsive.

Great vacation at historic Carmel property

We stayed for a month and wish we could have stayed longer. The property is just as described, a historic house with modern amenities. Both the property manager and the owner were proactive in reaching out to us during the storm and ensured we had everything we needed. Hope to stay here again soon.

Great location and lovely outdoor space

We loved the close proximity to the ocean and walked to the water a couple times each day. The garden on this property is also a standout. We enjoyed sitting on the sunny patio early in the day and having a glass of wine in the evening. The kitchen was well equipped to meet our meal prep and grilling needs. Lastly, we enjoyed great food, beautiful drives, golf, and hiking in the gorgeous Carmel area.

Wedding retreat

Great location for walking to beaches. We were easily able to walk into town. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful. Interior design of the house is sweet. The artwork on the walls is very enjoyable.

Our great-aunt Etta (in the blue dress) settled here at the Cottage with her friend, Kelly, after World War I. They ran the Cottage of River Winds as a Bed & Breakfast for many years, through many days of hard work and grace. The Cottage has been in our family for 3 generations. Our parents loved and cared for this beautiful property until their deaths a few years ago, when my brothers and I took over. We try to take care of it in the way that Etta would do, providing peaceful simplicity in an atmosphere of beauty at 'the greatest meeting of land and sea.'
