Beautiful well-appointed home

This property is just as advertised and was a home away from home for our family during a long weekend. The home was thoughtfully designed, tastefully decorated and well-equipped for cooking family meals. The Powderhorn Community is gorgeous and we took advantage of the hiking trails and beautiful sunsets. One of our favorites homes we've stayed in and plan to return during the summer months to take advantage of all of the amenities.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful Christmas stay at the Red Headed Woodpecker cabin in Deep Gap. The experience was truly enchanting. Beginning before we arrived, Gina's responsiveness to our questions and her kind spirit assured us we had chosen the perfect location for our Christmas in the mountains. The cabin's cozy atmosphere, rustic charm, and scenic surroundings created the perfect setting for a memorable Christmas celebration. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The attention to detail in the cabin's decor and amenities did not go unnoticed, and the kitchen is amazing! We appreciated the thoughtfulness that went into ensuring our comfort. We enjoyed the tranquility and beauty that Deep Gap had to offer. The fireplace, adorned with festive decorations provided warmth and a festive ambiance that made our Christmas celebrations truly special. Thank you once again for sharing your lovely cabin with us. Wonderful property!

We had a great stay! Decided to do a weekend getaway and chose this place as it’s not far from our home in VA. We love doing little mini vacations. The property was fantastic! Great communication with managers, very nice furnishings, and cute little cabin! We would stay here again in the future.

Cozy and well decorated home that had all of the amenities we needed.

The ease of checkin and the manager of the property was always in contact and very helpful. The attention to detail from the amenities, items to help you enjoy your time on the property, to the information guide that gives you everything you need to make the most of your visit. Definitely will be coming back.

The property was clean and recently remodeled. It’s in remote area and high up in the mountain. Driving at night was dangerous. I would not recommend driving to this property unless you have a 4-wheel drive. My 7-year-old son threw up by the time we got to the property. It was the first time even he threw up after driving around so many sharp curves. Only after we got to the property did we notice there was a camera right at the front door. There was no mentioning anywhere in the description about any camera. My wife felt unsafe as we had small children, so she turned the camera away immediately. The management company contacted me immediately through email and asked us to turn the camera back. I didn’t get the email until next day. When the camera was turned away, they emailed me again claiming that there was report of 9 people in the house. Again I didn’t get this email until next day. The management called me early next morning stating the same things regarding the surveillance camera and report of 9 people in the property. I told them that we felt unsafe with the camera monitoring us and stated that I would direct it to the original direction when we were not on the property because they claimed that some outside furniture had been stolen a few weeks prior. The management contacted the owner and the owner insisted that the camera had to be on all the time. We didn’t feel safe with someone monitoring us like that. So we had to leave the property immediately

A wonderfully woodsy Thanksgiving

This property was perfect! I’ve used a few property rental sited over the years and had not had a more pleasant and organized experience than with these property owners. The Redheaded Woodpecker was delightful! Fully stocked kitchen with all the cookware and space to prepare a wonderful dinner, gated community, towels and clothes stocked, super clean and comfy, plenty of on site activities and a scenic backdrop! We had a cozy fireplace and the cabin had firewood and detailed instruction and supplies for lighting a fire. We would certainly stay again..and again! Nancy was awesome and communicative every step of the way!

Mountain Retreat

Beautiful home in picturesque mountain setting. Close to Boone, The Blueridge Parkway, and Blowing Rock. Time for nature but also comforts and conveniences. Would highly recommend.

Well done renovations

We rented this property as a base camp to Boone and App State for 7 adults. The updated interior of the house are as advertised. The interior looks like a magazine but is live in ready. Thoughtful use of indoor space like slider doors and concealed appliances. Plenty of outdoor deck to give the property depth with gas grill. We didn’t have a chance to use all of the amenities; but pool, pond, clubhouse all looked to be in good shape. We took a short moderate hike to Trout Falls on property that provided a chance to get into nature without having to drive. I’d recommend this property if you are a family looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Teens and young families would not feel crowded, but our group of 7 adults did have decisions to make around bedding. Boone is close enough, 30 mins, to make a quick trip if you needed more options for entertainment. Pros: New everything, magazine worthy interior design, Weber gas grill, we’ll developed property amenities, real wood fireplace, property owner engagement Cons: Loft queen bed requires climbing a ladder not stairs, parking is tight for large vehicles
