This was the cleanest, most comfortable VRBO we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many. The house and surrounding grounds are beautiful. It is fully stocked with anything you might need. The location is ideal for exploring the nearby small towns and hiking in the many parks. Communication with the owners was smooth and clear. We highly recommend it.

We had a great time at this beautiful home. Excellent place to stay if you want peace and quiet with a creek located behind the home if you enjoy fishing or just listening to the water babbling across the rocks. Swings on the back porch for enjoying the view of the creek and an outside fire pit with patio furniture. Very clean and supplied with anything you’ll need. Really enjoyed our stay.

My favorite part of our stay was the day there were butterflies all around us. Magical! No luck with the fishing but we secured rainbow trout in Boone!

The property was very nice and had everything we needed and then some. The river was absolutely beautiful and we all enjoyed swimming and fishing. Overall a great place to stay and unwind.

Nice peaceful place on the Elk Creek River in Deep Gap. The place was clean and wonderful place to relax and enjoy life.

Beautiful, well maintained property with plenty of options for entertainment. We only used the master bedroom, but the bed was comfortable and the space was inviting. WELL stocked kitchen. They had everything available we could have imagined. The outdoor space was peaceful and beautiful. It was a perfect escape from the rush but still close to town to get on adventures. The road is pretty curvy but we went the opposite direction of what the owners suggested
 that was on us. Still a great drive. Living room was very comfortable as well. The owners were very quick to respond and gave great suggestions on things to do in the area. We will definitely be back!!

Our 4th Year Here

Our family of 5 loves Moonshine Bend so much we’ve kept coming back. While the house is lovely, most of our time is spent in and along the creek. This year we were able to bring our new dog, and she quickly became Moonshine Bend’s newest and most ardent fan! We’ve built so many memories here on Elk Creek; it will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Fantastic house in a beautiful location

The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed. However, the real draw was the beautiful creek and nature surrounding the home. We spent as much time as possible outdoors playing and fishing in the creek. We ate on the beautiful patio whenever we could and enjoyed the outdoor fireplace! The location feels remote enough to get away from it all but is still convenient to Boone or Blowing Rock. Would absolutely stay again!

This is our third year and we always enjoy our time at this property. It's very relaxing to soak in the swimming hole and ease our aches in the cool water. Our dog loves exploring and swimming, as well. The house is always clean and the internet works well (especially compared to the first year). The kitchen is well stocked with equipment. I suggest bringing your own toilet paper, paper towels and laundry detergent just to be safe.West Jefferson is our preferred little town to visit. Boone is nice but the traffic is always terrible when we visit after school starts at the university. The last two years we rented a pontoon boat from Skyline Marina at Kerr Reservoir in Wilkesboro and that's a super fun day trip.

Nothing To Do But Relax

My BFF and I had a wonderful, relaxing week at Moonshine Bend! We brought puzzles and our favorite game, Backgammon, but never even got these items out of the car! We just enjoyed the house and outside area. The home is beautifully decorated and the creek running right outside the backdoor could only have been created by the Master himself! The property had everything anyone would need for a fun week in the mountains of North Carolina.

We had the most amazing time at Renee and Drew’s lovely home in Deep Gap. It’s a truly special place that instantly brought us back to childhood memories of scampering around a creek. We swam in the clear, crisp water, searched for rock treasures, connected with the land, and dreamed about when we could return.Renee was wonderful to communicate with. She was responsive, helpful, and kind. The house was spotless, beautifully organized, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we could need, from walking sticks for exploring to a fully equipped kitchen for cooking together. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we felt right at home the moment we arrived.We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already counting the days until our next visit.

Great home and trip within a short drive to several sites

We stayed 3 days and 4 nights traveling from Florida. The property is beautiful and located within a 20-30 minute drive to West Jefferson, Boone and Sugar Mountain. We had a day of skiing and a few others to relax and tour the local towns. When outside the constant sound of the river was very relaxing.

Great property to escape to for a week.

We enjoyed our stay at Moonshine Bend. The water and view were amazing and relaxing. The property's owners were great to work with. Unfortunately, the VRBO support was not helpful when needed and cost me extra money.

A little hidden paradise in the holler.

Moonshine Bend is a beautiful setting and well maintained house and property. The house had everything we needed for a week long or longer stay. It is located in close proximity to Boone and Blowing Rock etc if you want to venture out. Renee answered all calls and text promptly and was extremely helpful during the entire process. You will want to hit the WalMart in Wilkesboro or the Food Lion on 421 before heading down the switchbacks to the house.Our stay was hindered by bad weather and unfortunately we were unable to take advantage of all the beauty and adventures this property has to offer. No one can control the weather and our stay at Moonshine Bend would have definitely been a 5 star rating any other time.

In today's 24/7 plugged-in lifestyle... we all need a place to UNPLUG and decompress, if only for a couple of days. This is the spot!

Completely private, the home sits on the banks of Elk Creek, a pristine state-stock trout stream. This home is on 2.5 acres of beautiful flat land, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Centrally located to Boone, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, and the famous Blue Ridge Parkway... this home provides a great base camp to explore the surrounding area OR simply check in, and enjoy the land and Elk Creek.

Secluded, there are no other homes in sight.

Breathtaking, the lay of the land & the position of the house on the creek is incredible.

Relaxing, rocking on the wrap-around porch, napping in the hammock, or walking along the creek bank... You will feel yourself slow down and find yourself, enjoying the moment.

Convenient, to everything the Highlands has to offer. 8 miles to the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 minutes to Boone, and about half an hour to Blowing Rock and West Jefferson.

Fishing, a dream any angler can wake up to!

The music of Mother Nature is awesome. You can hear and see Elk Creek from every room in the home.

Our home, or as we call it, "the Farm"... is perfectly furnished and comfortable. "The Farm" will embrace you & your family! It will make you so happy, you'll be sad to leave.

Moonshine Bend is truly a little Peace of Heaven on Earth!
