We had an amazing stay in the Chalet at Scalloway from where we explored more of Shetland. The local history was very interesting and our host was extremely knowledgeable about it and the wildlife locally.The weather helped our moth catch which we were happy to share daily with our host Mark. We would love to return to Shetland and particularly Viewcliff.

The property was stunning , well equipped. The surrounding area was beautiful. Everyone was so friendly .

Very clean, modern and comfortable house. Very warm, light and spacious. Everything you need is provided including a lovely welcome basket of local produce with beer and wine. The house is a short walk from the town and equidistant from Kirkwall harbour and Scapa Beach, with both distilleries in walking distance. Sarah was available to answer any questions without being intrusive. We loved every minute of our stay, from the fabulous local food and drink to Neolithic sites, nature reserves and refreshing walks. We’ll be back!

Fascinating place, the highlight was The Italian Chapel, beautil and very moving.

Amazing location! Worth the journey time to arrive in this idyllic island. I would have extended the trip if cottage had been available. Seals, swans, owl, skuas, otters, terns all around. The colour of the sea is stunning! We arrived in a thick fog. Had a few wrong turns to get to cottage and the yellow door isn't visible from the road! So drove passed. Electricity is included but on timers. Owner very responsive to my enquires and local community very helpful. If you are into bird watching and walking, you are in for a real treat.

This location was a great place to stay to explore Orkney. We loved the isolated and peaceful area. Plenty to do and see if you are prepared to drive a few miles. Spectacular cliff top walks with an abundance of bird life. The accommodation has everything you need for a self catering holiday. We stocked up with everything we needed from Tesco in Kirkwall after getting off the ferry.

We arrived a little early for ‘official’ entry but the keys were waiting for us and we were able to go in straight away. The house is neat and clean with 2 double and 1 single bedrooms. We chose to sleep upstairs in the slightly smaller double as we like to keep windows open and, being town dwellers are happier upstairs. The velux window was great with the electric blind and even though it was fairly warm we were extremely comfortable. The host has provided everything we needed, especially in the kitchen and a lovely welcome basket of Orkney produce was very much appreciated. The house is perfectly placed for walks into Stromness and along the coast a short way, plus very easy to travel to other areas of The Mainland including the well known sights around the island. We also went for a couple of good length walks around the area which were wonderful.
