  • 5 stars all around!

"My husband and I stayed at Casa de Calkins for 5 days on the first leg of out Costa Rican honeymoon. PROS: walking distance to town! Full size fridge with ice maker Locked gate and parking Air conditioning Cable! We didn't think we'd watch TV but we did, a lot and it was so nice to chill in the ac and watch English television after a long day exploring Hot water, good water pressure and towels supplied Very clean! CONS: the neighborhood can get a little loud, between the neighbors playing their trumpet (lol) and the dogs barking but nothing some ear plugs can't fix The bed was very hard for our liking Gregg and Carol were so sweet and welcoming. We enjoyed getting to know them during our trip and would recommend their cabina to our friends and will stay again if we pass through."

  • Perfect home base for exploring Arenal

"We stayed at the Birdsong Villa for the first part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. We upgraded from the Garden View room to the Birds View room and it was definitely worth it - the view is amazing and the set up is just perfect. Allan was a wonderful host; he made suggestions (must have a meal at La Ventanita! and hot springs to visit at Los Lagos) and set up tours for us (a hike/zip line combo with Sky Adventures). We loved the observation deck for sunsets, and having breakfast with Allan out on our patio. This was the perfect location for us to explore the Arenal area and it felt luxurious to be in a private home as opposed to staying at hostels/hotels. An SUV is best for navigating the gravel roads, but we found that was the case with most of the driving around Arenal and even towards the coast in CR. We enjoyed the road trip from Liberia, and made fun stops along the way (Lake Arenal Brewery was cool). Thanks!"

  • Great house

"Our family spent 3 nights at the Villa. This house is an amazing value, it's spacious and private and has lots of room. The grounds are beautiful, lots of flowers and trees and fruit on the trees. The view of the lake is breathtaking, sunrise and sunsets. The house was located further from La Fortuna than we thought but it's a beautiful drive around the lake to reach Cindy's restaurant, Tinajas Arenal to pick up the key. Wow, were we surprised when we got there, the amazing view and a great meal! We enjoyed the privacy of the villas location and the nice cool afternoon breezes. We enjoyed going to Toad Hall at the end of the road, a fun place to hang out and get food or a drink close by. I would definitely come here again with family and friends."

  • Stefano is the BEST consierge you could ask for!!!!

"Villa Trentino is a beautiful little hidden gem in la Fortuna, nestled in an array of brightly colored birds and tropical plants!! But it's Stefano that makes the experience a totally wonderful one!! He is SO knowledgable about all the possible activities to do around the area. And after making your choices, Stefano makes all the calls and arrangements for you. Many of them can pick you up at the villa's gate. So convenient! And appreciated, when you don't know the area. In our group we were all 55-60 years old, so we chose less strenuous activities. We went on SKY walk adventure through the rainforest with a guide. We passed over several hanging bridges. We had a very informative guide, Carlos, and we SO enjoyed the hours of walking and seeing so much nature. Recommend it highly. LOTS of picture opportunities there. We took the chocolate tour on the Don Olivo family-run farm, that Stefano suggested. So much more knowledge and tasting yummy fruits grown there, than just chocolate! Willie, the owner's son, keeps it light and fun the whole time. Pointing out different butterflies, even a sloth! So worth taking this fun excursion. The owner even drove to our villa, and we followed him to his farm nearby. So no getting lost. We also did the Arenal Rafting. A bit of a wild ride . . . But SUCH a RUSH!!! We had Yader as our guide, on our raft. He was GREAT! He kept us all in the raft. (Which we asked for him to do.) And we had a blast!! And they have a professional photographer taking pics along the ride. Amazing and fun to view after the wild fun ride. Available to purchase your package of usually over 300 pics! Highly recommend doing this!!! We would again, in a heart beat. The Arenal Rafting bus picked us up at the villa's gate. Now, that's total service. And again, our personal Italian concierge had set it all up for us! We also went to the FREE area nearby to enjoy the warm springs waters. Wow! That felt great. And totally free. DO IT! Our group of 4 wants to THANK Stefano for sharing his info of the available tours and knowledge of his local area. Wonderful and friendly. The villa has views from the windows, no matter which one you look from. There is the Arenal volcano to one direction, and so much nature surrounding you on the other sides. We spotted toucans, iguanas and many other bright birds from our windows daily. The kitchen is well set up. And the washer/dryer are such a bonus being right inside the villa. So pack less.Chow Stefano."
