  • Peaceful

"We loved our stay here. It is a charming rustic cabin on the lake outside of Santa Cruz. Santos is so helpful and the managers are great communicators making everything go smoothly. There are a couple restaraunts in Paxanax and you can walk to Santa Crux, but asking Santos to help get a boat is the best way to get around. It is really worth getting away from the bustle of Panajachel or San Pedro. Nt he nights are generally peaceful and the morning coffee on the patio is a dream when the volcanoes and lake are at their best. We loved he service and getaway."

  • Amazing views

"Our family of 5 was very comfortable in this beautiful home. Anastacio (the caretaker) was super helpful when we needed him. This house is off the beaten path which has its upsides and challenges. The house has a stunning view of the lake, a beautiful garden, and a nice area to jump off the dock. If I had it to do over I would have planned food a little better - my teens eat a lot! A few times we walked to Jaibalito for food at the Posada (20 minutes or so) - the path after heavy rains has some challenging spots. We had Maria come and make a meal for us one day which was amazing - We should have planned to have her come more than once. Be prepared for some bugs, spiders and scorpions (we caught 2 in the house during our 5 nights). Taking the lanchas to different towns was fun but be prepared to deal with inconsistent fees and haggling before getting on the boat - for us it was generally around 20q per adult and 15q per child to go a couple of towns."

  • Casa Colibri was breathtaking

"Casa Colibri is a beautifully curated house with breathtaking views, attention to detail, and a friendly staff. This is a top notch property with excellent services available: Angela and Carmen are amazing cooks and will make sure your family is fed well; Rocio will make sure everything you want to do is set up, and will stock the house with whatever you want; and definitely book Alicia to come by and work on your sore spots, best massage we've had in years. The rooms are quite spread out, so they offer a lot of privacy, but you will need to utilized the numerous patios and common spaces to be together with family and friends. This property is definitely not for those who have mobility issues as there are a lot of stairs and a mountain to hike (or jump in the back of a pick-up!) up to get to the residence. We had a magical time at Casa Colibri and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area."

  • Relaxing Getaway!

"My daughter (10 years old) and I stayed in this stunning house for four nights after staying 10 days in Antigua. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle and we enjoyed the ability to decompress in such a gorgeous environment. The staff, San Francisco and Maria, were always willing to assist us with anything we needed but also allowed us our privacy. The grounds are stunning! We will be back!!!"
