  • First Stay in San Juan and definitely not the last...

"First stay in San Juan and definitely not the last, the condo was beautiful and exactly like the pictures. I was there for 2 weeks with my husband my daughter, my son in law and a friend. The apartments are gated and there are security guards 24/7. Upon arrival Ninoska was there too give us the keys and see that we had everything we needed. During our stay she was also available at all times if we needed information, cleaning or someone to cook our meals. She was well appreciated. The living room is airy and spacious. The furnishings are warm and comfortable with plenty of lighting. There are ceiling fans and air conditioning in every room. The WiFi was very fast. The flat screen TV and cable offered English speaking channels. There is a washer/dryer that works perfectly The bedrooms have a full bathroom and the beds are very comfortable. There is a safe in the bedroom with a combination and a key where we could keep our passports and credit cards safely hidden The view from the balcony was exactly as the pictures and definitely breathtaking. We spent a lot of time sitting on the patio, overlooking the bay. We could see the bay from one end to the other. At night we could see the cruise boats and the town with all the shining lights. Our requirements were that we needed a place that was peaceful, quiet, safe and where we could cook some of our meals. We did have all that and more. We tryed some of the the restaurants that were a 7 minute walk along the beach from the condo. Going into town we felt safe at all times even after dark. The infinity pool was beautiful and the temperature was perfect. The only negative part of the trip was that the condo was for 6 people and the kitchen table had only 4 chairs. Definitely got my money's worth and I recommend this apartment complex to all."

  • Nicest beach front surf rental in Jiquilillo!

"My husband, 7 year old daughter, 3 year old son and I rented the Portugal's place for almost one month. We had already been in Nicaragua for a month prior and we're ready for a beach front property. This place met our expectations! It was gorgeous, the pictures don't do justice. Upon our (early) arrival the caretakers along with Bodi (owner's son) and his wife were there to greet us. Bodi had us set up with surfboards in a flash and we were able to surf that day. He included a boogy (body) board for the kids which they had a blast on. The beach is amazing, so clean compared to other beaches that we had been prior. There was a rocky area to the right of the house that the kids enjoyed exploring the tide pools and collecting beautiful shells and rocks. It is the one of the best surf spots in Jiquilillo from begginner to advanced waves. Bodi a former surf instructor even gave me some very helpful surf tips when while in the water one day... Thank-you! The house was a great size for the four of us. We cooked our own meals and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. We barely used the living room as the outside seating was deluxe with an amazing ocean view and beautiful sunsets every night. There were hammocks for lounging too! We had people comming up to us asking us about our rental quite often. Just down the street we were able to buy the basics along with coconut bread and pizza for a treat. There were people selling donuts, corn tortillas, and ice cream. Occasionally a fruit and veggie truck would come by and we would stock up. The caretakers were amazing in helping us find what we needed and were very friendly. The kids enjoyed playing with their children as well as the local kids. We would definitely rent this place again if we travel to Nicaragua again, it's a long way from Canada but such a wonderful experience. Thank-you Sue, Franklin, Bodi."

  • Spacious home with amazing views of Playa Coco

"My family and I reserved this home for 5 nights in the month of June. The home is quite spacious with 3 rooms, each having a king size bed, and individual air conditioning units in each room. There were 2 full size bathrooms (1 shared between two rooms) which included vanity, toilet and shower. The living room/kitchen/dining room were in one great big space and all appliances were modern and sufficient to cook any type of meal. The home also came equipped with a television with satellite programing which kept the kids entertained with all their familiar programs. What made the house memorable was the patio overlooking the beach, with views as far as Costa Rica. Besides a full dining room table and chairs, the rocking chairs, outdoor couches and the hammock were perfect for spending the evening outdoors looking over the beach and listening the sounds of the ocean. The beach was very calm and perfect for the kids to run around and enjoy themselves. There are basic services near the beach including a restaurant, gift shop, and minimarket all located about 500m from the house. There was also a pool at "Puesta del Sol" restaurant that's perfect for people that don't want to spend all day in the ocean, but unfortunately it was closed for us due to maintenance. It's important to be aware of a few things regarding the location of the property before making any reservations. First, while only being located about 20 km from San Juan del Sur, it takes approximately 30 mins to arrive from the junction to San Juan. The first 15 mins are travelled over cobblestone roads, but the next 13 km is over unpaved roads. Some areas are quite rocky and I would suggest a 4X4 to arrive easier, especially the entrance to the property which is required to climb two steep ascents of 45° from the road to the home. Second, it is imperative that you have your own transportation to enjoy this part of Nicaragua. There are virtually no services near by, so travelling to San Juan is essential for anything including groceries, bank, medical services, etc. Finally, being that it is remotely built in the wild, be prepared to see all sorts of lizards and bugs inside and outside of the home, including moths, geckos, mosquitos, mantis, wasps, butterflies, spiders, flies and scorpions. This was a deal breaker for my wife and couldn't enjoy the last few days of our stay. The view is stunning and the house is spacious, but remember to keep expectations in check and enjoy Nicaragua!"

  • What an amazing place!

"I just got back from staying here for a week and it was fantastic. The views were far reaching and one could clearly see Playa Santana and Mag Rock from the back patio. The pool and rooms were clean. I liked that it felt secluded, but was so close to all of the amenities of Rancho Santana. It's nice being able to be the first to ride Santana every morning. I would recommend having your own wheels for this location. I'll be staying there again soon!"
