  • Convenient apartment in Florence

"The apartment was as described and convenient for visiting the sights in Florence. The manager was accommodating, given we arrived later than anticipated. Lorenzo took the time to answer our questions before he left. Maira was also accessible and responded promptly to questions we had during our stay. Be aware that there was only one set of keys, which may cause some issues, if people want to come and go at different times during your stay. The apartment is an easy 15 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station, once you figure out the streets, where the signs are on the side of the buildings and frequently change names. The walk to the central market is about 10 minutes; the Duomo about 15; Ponte Vecchio 20 to 25. We found a fairly large supermarket, Carrefour Express, on Via de Ginori near via Taddea, which had better prices than some of the smaller ones closer to the apartment. The bed was large and comfortable, enough room for hanging and putting your clothes in drawers. Pillows were a bit soft for our liking, but that's a matter of what you're used to. Kitchen has all the dishes a couple needs and has a small eating area, as well as the counter. For North Americans, be aware that there is no drip coffee maker. There is a mocha machine, which I enjoyed, but may not suit everyone who is not used to it. An adapter, not provided, was required to plug in the (tea) kettle. If you intend to watch TV, the channels are all Italian, except for one French; we found no English stations. Bathroom has been renovated and everything works well, just be aware that water temperature sometimes changes on its own and you have to be patient until the hot water comes back. I think this is not that unusual in Europe. I found the shower a bit tight, but adequate for average-sized individual. During our stay, there was some noise due to construction in the apartment next door. However, it was not constant and limited to normal hours, i.e. 8 am to late afternoon. It didn't really affect our enjoyment of the apartment, but something you may want to ask about before you decide to rent it. We would select this apartment again, if we were to return to Florence."

  • Perfect oasis of calm in Tuscany

"Our recent stay at La Scuola di Furio was perfect in every way. The house, situated near town of Fuccechio in Northern Tuscany, is divided into a number of beautifully appointed apartments. Our one was spotlessly clean with comfortable furnishings and everything we needed for our 5 night stay. Having spent the previous week in cities it was wonderful to be able to relax at the pool or in the lovely garden which afforded great views over the magnificent surrounding area. It's location means that La Scuola is a perfect base for visiting Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Vinci but you don't have to go anywhere to have a good time. The kindness of our hostess Tiziana and the welcome we received was perhaps the most outstanding part of our stay. Tiziana went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She brought us to the local contrada for dinner and a chance to watch Ireland play Italy in the Euro's and was very gracious in defeat!! We stayed in 5 different apartments during our holiday but all of us agreed that Fuccechio was our favourite."

  • ottimo

  • A perfect stay in Florence

"This apartment fulfilled all that was promised, including a very comfortable bed, two elegant bathrooms, comfortable furniture, all very tastefully appointed. Nice comfy robes were a pleasant surprise. The kitchen was beautiful and we were greeted on arrival with fruit, prosecco, Chianti, Nespresso with supplies, pasta and all the amenities of home. We were so centrally located that we never required a cab. Walking to all the many museums and churches in Florence was never more that 15 minutes, and we had fun mingling with the students from the nearby Accademia, singing karaoke at local trattoria's nearby. Our hosts were on the spot to answer our few questions, providing us with wireless speakers to allow us to play our music from our phones. We stayed for one week, and enjoyed living like a local. We would return in a heartbeat."
